  1. Forget all this jabber about temperature etc. if you start getting up in the night to pee then go and get a blood test and ask for your PSA to be checked. One of the biggest killers for older men is prostate cancer and frequent night time needing to pee is a common indicator. Death rate in the UK is 1 in 41 for Prostate cancer. I was lucky and caught it in time.

    Good luck.

I find it funny that you would call people morons and idiots while making a , let's just say not very smart statement.

First, very difficult to live with it if you have died from it.

Second, , though the omicron variant might have half the hospitalization rate than the Delta variant, it has three times the infection rate, so since you are so much smarter than those "Morons and complete Idiots" you do the math

the UK is is in the midst of a sharp rise in hospitalizations, about 30 percent higher week over week. "

    https://www.vox.com/22839742/omicron-covid-19-winter-surge-vaccine-booster-forecast.

So the Issue is not if Omicron  is going to get here, it will, but if it can be delayed, and as Sheryl pointed out in a previous reply , what they do with the time they buy from this lock down.

Will the squander it,as they have done in the past, or will they double down on the vaccination , boosters and hospital capacity , and be more ready for it when it gets here.

….and the reason that hospital admissions have gone up is that 90% of them are UNvaccinated. Over 5 million unvaccinated in the U.K. who are putting others at risk. So I agree ‘morons and idiots’ (but not the extremely small number not vaccinated on medical advice)

  3. At present in Torremolinos, Spain. Weather is great, blue skies and sunshine every day. Beautiful beaches, bars restaurants etc are open. Prices are cheaper or similar than to Thailand  eg €2 for a pint of draft or same for bottle of beer. Return flight was approx £90.
the only requirements were an online form with vaccination details, local address, passport and this generated a return email with QR code. 5 mins to complete. Passport control to luggage reclaim 5 minutes. On return to UK simple online form and a Lateral flow test AT HOME by day 2 costing £19.
Whilst I would love to return to my Thai home the red tape and ridiculous costs and no guarantee of a Thai Pass make Spain the better option.

  4. I have had three lots of prescription meds plus a pre-filled hypodermic (Post cancer treatment) sent from U.K. this month. All by Post Office ‘signed for’ mail. Each package cost just over £11. They all arrived in7/8 days and were fully traceable in the UK and here in Thailand. Copy of the prescription to be fixed to outside of parcel and customs declaration to state”prescription medicine no commercial value “.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I did the 65k method on the 19 March (41 days early) with no problem. The only additional paperwork was the letter and statements from the bank. I have always supplied my pension statements and did so again. Other paperwork the same as previous years (with the embassy letter).

I agree it is chaotic at Jomtien with the massive queues outside in the sun then the temperature check and finally the crowds inside with the majority of Farangs without masks.

  6. I flew in yesterday to Suvarnabhumi, slope up to Immigration was restricted access! Not allowed through to immigration desks unless you had downloaded the app!

many people panicking like headless chickens as they knew nothing of this new requirement. Lucky for me I did and showed the confirmation on my phone and was let through desks had no more than one person waiting at them.

  7. My first extension at Jomtien using monthly income is next week and not looking forward to it based on research. Went to Bangkok Bank and spent over an hour trying to request statement for 12 months and bank letter (200baht for statement and 100 baht for bank letter). Staff insisted I needed a further letter detailing the actual currency transactions at a cost of 600 baht!

after much discussion and an impasse I said I would go around the corner To immigration and check With them.

immigration agreed on ly bank statement and one bank letter BUT I also needed bank statements from my U.K. bank and evidence of where the transfer money originated!!

So I will take my pension statements Which in the earlier years they would only accept if the had the Embassy letter!

    Fingers crossed for next week.

Yeah but how about pics of the Immigration lines ? That would tell the real story ! ????

(Of course Immigration could just cut the number of IOs manning the counters so that the lines remain as long as ever, despite having fewer people arriving/departing.) :whistling:

I arrived Saturday morning and no zigzag lines at immigration and about 6-8 in front of the immigration boxes. Very few milling around looking for luggage. My DBX - BKK flight half empty.

Up on level 4 only 3 taxis waiting for hire rather than the usual dozen plus.

    Definitely fewer incoming travelers.

If you are sending Sterling to Bangkok Bank then Bangkok Bank will charge a processing fee.

Bangkok Bank charges a receiving fee of 0.25% of the transfer amount (minimum 200 baht, maximum 500 baht).

Now on my 10th transfer of sterling to Bangkok Bank and still no charges at either end
