Good afternoon.
I am seeking information, please, to rebut an argument with an Aust Govt Agency.
I believe, that an expat cannot be considered a “citizen” of Thailand, unless they apply, can read, write, speak Thai fluently, and be one of a very small number selected to become a citizen, each year. ( I don’t by the way) therefore I cannot be construed to be a resident of the country, similarly, it’s also why, non citizens are required to report their whereabouts every 90 days,
can anyone advise, where these two issues are actually written, so I can see if I can rebut there Agency’s argument that I reside here.
thanks

Good afternoon.
as an expat Aust staying (note, not residing) and the holder of the Extension of Stay, retirement visa, renewed yearly for the past three yrs here in Thailand and have decided to wait it out here for the duration of the COVID saga, with my Thai partner and have all of the required documents, (yellow book, id card, driver license, bank account - all simply to remain a lawful traveler and not have to do the continued 90 day departures etc) (and have been a traveller to other parts of SE Asia since my retirement in 2016 and with lifestyle support back in Aust and a regular returnee there, (prior to the COVID virus) I submitted my aged pension application online and the very same day Centrelink deemed it that I am not living in Australia on a permanent basis and refused the pension despite the number of documents I submitted showing that I was a resident of Aust, had ties there, and was unable to return to Aust to sub,it my claim (even tho I can’t find anywhere in, legislation to say that I have to - policy might say otherwise) I have submitted an appeal to the AAT.
my question: is there any expat currently here inThailand that has dealt with either Centrelink or the AAT in regards to the appeal process and what documents etc did you submit to support your claim.
I am aware of the Centrelink legislation, and the AWLR clause but just wondering if there other angles I can pursue prior to the appeal hearing.
thanks in advance.

OP I renewed mine via the Aust Embassy here in BKK, simple, download the one page renewal form etc, as most of the posts advise, however, be careful if the scam they run, with regards to passport photos. I turned up with four, from a passport shop in WA, just prior to my passport expiring,
would t accept them, no sir, not what we want, you need to go to photo shop, where, just ask at other counter (as you enter the Embassy proper) indeed, small map already done, you want motorbike, bingo, my wife and I walk out front, two bikes already waiting, they knew where we needed to go, waited and returned us, i actually submitted the same photo I had taken in Perth (and had arrived at the embassy with - going to claim silly mistake) and lo and Behold they accepted it. Amazing. But overall the process and time is under three weeks, posted, EMS to me.

Hi,
I have four 4m x 3m x 3m cement, tiled lined tanks, with catfish and a local Thai fish (not tilapia) fed the usual fish growth pellets you buy at the corner store, but they don’t seem to grow quickly. Question is, is there another food that I can use to accelerate growth everything I see on YouTube seems To relate to aquarium fish although I saw on There feeding them beef heart. TYIA.

I don’t come on this site often, I read an article once as to what a Thai needs to do when a Falange passes away here. Not that I am planning to do so in the short term, but organizing a local will and I wanted that information for my wife to assist, should it be required. Can anyone assist, or advise, please. Thanks in advance.

1. How old are you? (Different companies have different cut offs for issuing new policies)
2. Do you plan to live permanently in Thailand, i.e. will you grow old here? (Big issue - some policies automatically stop at a certain age, some guarantee for life but will price you out if you develop a chronic disease, etc).
Thanks posters, I forgot to mention, am aged 64
and I tend to live here with sporadic trips back to Australia,

Hi, I currently have travel insurance with my health insurer in Australia, but believe it would be better to be covered here. I have the Non O retirement extension, I have seen numerous adverts for expat health, can anyone advise which one would be the best, and why. I am in good health at present. Thanks.

what's a tinnie? I am from Germany and I am curious as a mouse in springtime
It’s Australian (not Austrian) for a beer, beer in a can, a tinnie, it can also refer to a small dinghy, as a tinnie, and a beer in a small bottle is a stubbie, most uncouth Australians overseas use the terms to demonstrate that they come from the land down under- 1

Hi,
I recently read quiet an informed post relating to the requirements for a deceased foreigner’s body to be released to their Thai partner upon death, it also included a small pro forma that could be created and kept with a will to allow that to happen. I have searched everywhere with every type of heading without result, can anyone advise. Thank you

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could correctly identify the prawn in the photo, whilst they appear common here in hail and, I can’t seem to find the right ones on the net to see how to farm them. I have a large dam not fed by running water, saw them in a restaurant in a large tank tried to replicate that way to raise them, without success. Has anyone done so.am looking at a very small non commercial venture for the house and friends. Thanks

Visa subclass 309
in Visas and migration to other countries
Posted
Good afternoon.
I resided in Thailand for four yrs till recently. My Thai wife and her two teen children are still there. I returned to Aust for medical reasons. We are in the process of compiling a 309 visa for her and the kids. I’ve spoken to a migration agent in Perth…very expensive, and will try to run it ourselves, has anyone on here had or having issues with Aust Immigration or can provide worthwhile suggestions on what I need to look at / add to the applications. I’ve read the refusal rate is very high AND the fees are non refunadable. TIA
