Let me see if I got this right. The education official said there is no need to change the curriculum just because students aren't learning anything. Guess that let's all the idiot Thai teachers off the hook.

There is of course also the problem that lots of Thai girls (nearly all of them?) think that having babies is just wonderful. It seems they see babies as kind of toys to play with. And many girls want babies but it seems they never thought about the cost and that it's a full time job to take care of them.
Based on what I have learned from speaking with numerous bar girls and various prostitutes, it's grandma and grandpa that end up raising the kids while the new Mom is off to BKK, Pattaya, Koh Samui, or Phuket to get a "job" to send money home to support the child. It's a mutually beneficial system, whereby the old folks on the rice farm have a mechanism to gain some regular income (in a country with little or no social welfare available), and the mothers attain freedom and independence far away from what little parental control exists at home (to enjoy all the fun drinking, sex, shopping malls, etc). This is all fairly well ingrained in Thai culture. If the young girl is not from a well-to-do family, she probably isn't going to fetch much of marriage dowry anyway. Once the first baby comes, chances of a marriage dowry become even more remote, unless she finds some foreigner who is anxious to marry a younger woman despite having someone else's kid. Thai men are much more reluctant to overlook the kid than we farangs. There are likely other reasons young Thai girls are getting pregnant so frequently, but you can't discount the impact that pimping out their daughters has on the general acceptance of bearing children out of wedlock. Sorry if that sounds rude or mean spirited. I think it's a truly regretable situation. But I'm just reporting my observations. Draw your own conclusions.
Of course, can't say I mind it all really, since there is an endless supply of new girls in town to choose from ????

Who doesn't know to put wallet/money in front pocket when going to the bar or cruising the footpath???
A fool and his money are soon parted.

I'm not sure where they will find enough honest law enforcement officers to change this aspect of Thai culture.
Might be easier to find 3 wise men and a virgin.

Oh sure. Rescue them from the trade after they have entered the UK, and of course you can't deport them back to India because might cause stigma for their family.
For every girl kidnapped into the sex trade, I'm betting there are 1000 that went willingly. Same thing happens in the US. After they get into the US, they start needing to be "rescued" and seek asylum as a "victim".
I knew a "working girl" in Los Angeles that did this. She was still hooking after she got her green card because the pay was a lot better than hooking for the snakehead.
Maybe this also happens in UK, Australia, etc.

Does anyone have any further details of the crash? e.g. where it occurred or what bike he was riding?
I find it suspicious that there is absolutely no details provided about the accident that took his life. What happened? Who was at fault??? If not the fault of the young lad, then why isn't the guilty party putting up the cash to repatriate him?

We can thank the Thai education system for making sure this pop bimbo doesn't have a clue about world history. She probably thinks Victory Monument actually commemorates Thailand's defeat of the Japanese invasion. 555

This thread was opened 21 hours ago, and no posts supporting gun control?
If this article had been about a shooting in the US, would already have been plenty of posts from expat liberals calling for a ban on all firearms.
Would have been a good time for Sitthichoke and his parents to have had a gun of their own.

Chalk one up for the Elephants. Guess they felt he owed them more than just a few pineapples since the farm was built in the middle of their original home. I hear they never forget such things.

What's the difference between importing and smuggling in Thailand?
Answer: Depends on who is doing the importing and whether the "tax" has been paid.

The problem is called "ice", and I don't mean frozen water.

Great. Now they can sell them to the Chinese.

If they paid Thai teachers more than 10,000 baht per month, then maybe they could get some who actually knew enough to fill the class time, instead of spending their time enforcing stupid archaic rules.

The university administrators must be the only people in Thailand who give a <deleted> about this. Could they not already notice there is like a million ladyboys in Thailand.

But more on topic, I find it interesting that Sanook doesn't mention the age of this "child"? He says the "child" is his student. Is she a teenager? Are there age of consent issues here?

"It is of extreme concern to us as a government, as it should be to all our international friends and allies, that China has chosen to begin to arbitrarily apply (the) death penalty ... as in this case," Trudeau told reporters in Ottawa.
This is not an arbitrarily applied death sentence. China routinely executes convicted drug dealers and smugglers. China leads the world in capital punishment with approximately 2500 executions per year. People must avoid even the appearance of guilt in China. Trudeau should not try to interfere. People should know that when they travel to China, they are entering a country with zero human rights, especially for foreigners. Not sure how the benefits of going there, even to sell drugs, could ever balance the risk anyone takes who sets foot in that country.

This sounds interesting, a driving licence on your phone that tracks your every movement.
Given Big Joke's recent efforts, the tracking certainly has interesting implications for foreigners. However, this seems more of an effort to ensure that Thai people will actually have a license on their person. I'm sure the most common excuse the police hear is, "I left my license at home". This way they will always have with them, as most are constantly talking/texting while driving anyway, even on a motorbike.

Kill it? It was probably eaten, and the inedible parts were sold for Chinese traditional medicine.

Thai media Sanook were quick to blame a western driver who they said blindly came out of an intersection and hit a Thai man on a motorcycle.
Wow, I have never seen Thai riders pull blindly into an intersection. How shocking.

Not surprising, since the emphasis now is on Chinese. Of course, I doubt many of them speak it well either.

No concept of customer rights or customer service in Thailand. But to be fair, the staff for the airlines in the USA are pretty rude and inconsiderate also. And don't even get me started about those TSA jerkwads. LAX is the worst.
