  1. Well I hope they have more discussion with the Airlines this time,as the last time they tried to invent Hua Hin as as International Airport they just went ahead and took it for granted that their idea was going to be a guaranteed success.

They upgraded the Control Tower, the interior new Shops etc, then the splendor Of lengthingning the Runway to accomdate the larger Aircraft that were going to arrive, but forgot to set up a Service Area for the Maintenance of all these larger Aircraft, besides not getting a guarantee that the International Airways would be interested in moving parts of their Fleets to Hua Hin.

After wasting all this money what did they get,I believe it was 2 Test Flights and nothing more only the Tunnel over the main Road that carries The lengthened Runway and somehow we lost our favorite evening Flight to Bangkok.

  2. Not a list of Books but very popular Authers Stephen Leather, Danial Silva,Lee Child,James Patterson they have done a load of Books just google them and take your pick, James Patterson has done a Series called Private very good, but my favorite out of these is Danial Silva his theme is the Mossad,

  3. When I Sold my last Home I contacted a number of Real Estate Agents and overall there were lots of Agents obviously a number of them were Advertising the same Properties, the average charge in Commission was6-7%.

Wasnt to happy with the ones who came to my Home and I was talking to a friend about it,he told me he would develope a website for me and put it online which he did and he charged me 5,000baht.

It had only been online for 2 days and had my first enquiry,in the next 2-3 weeks I had a number of positive enquiries, when I eventually Sold it I had 4 couples all trying to buy it so my 5,000baht Investment worked well for me.

No we didn’t have children but she had a daughter from her previous relationship a Thai guy.

I was surprised it went so smoothly and very surprised when it all went my way,the only hitch if you like was I could only stay in the House for a Year and it had to be Sold or put in a Thai name,as I was going to Sell anyway this wasn’t a problem, I have advised a number of guys to take a chance and not to give up,it payed off for me and considering the time it took  and the Travel to the Courts for the Solicitor and myself when needed the Costs were a bargain 200,000baht.

  5. I have been Shipping Vitamins and Supplements from the UK for Years and never had a problem,my last Order was for just over 100GBP a little over 4,000baht, no problems as the Order was not shipped complete as I bought off eBay and there were different Retailers involved so each Delivery was under 20GBP,a warning for those who aren’t aware of Shipping costs from the UK dont use Amazon because they stiff you for Postage.

  6. To survive in HH at all never mind the Low Season, you have to compete with the well established Italian Restaurants, the most popular are(or were) Enricos Place opposite the Hilton (I think the proper name is Lo Stavalle) and the 2 Italian Restaurants at the bottom of Soi Bintabaht opposite the Temple, these 3 have always been the most popular with Tourists and ex Pats, then you have the less popular but still have have a regular clientele plus you can get the basic Italian Food in many Thai Restaurants, then you have the real expensive one up just past Market Village if it’s still open, then you have a lot of the Farang places that have opened up down Soi 80 and other Sois in tha area, you are in a real competitive market, and another thought you have Pizza Hut which does a very good trade,I wish you well but do your Homework on this idea.

Not trying to be funny here but the thread title should be "Land hers, house hers". I bought my place in the wife's name, but even if I hadn't, I know I'd have a hell of a job trying to sell up if it came to it. On the odd occasion I've mentioned it as a contingency plan, she just goes into ignore mode.

After splitting up with my girlfriend I started making moves to get my House back, the House and land were in her name.

After suffering from all the Doomsday know all’s that I had no chance of getting my House back I visited a Solicitor explained everything to him and he was happy to take the Case on.

To cut a long story short after just under a Year at our final Court appearance I was awarded the House but as in Thai Law I could not have the Land in my name,we retired to the Chambers the Judge,Solicitor,Translator and the Thai Manager of the Village I lived in,after discussing this for a while the Land was put in the Village Managers name and the House in my name and this ended in a satisfactory result for me.

Re #1, if you have online banking already you should be able to do internet transfer to Thailand, but there is usually a $10,000 limit per transaction so you may have to do several transfers. I can do it through Westpac at $5 a time but some banks charge much more per transaction. You could also just go into the branch when you get home and do one transaction for the whole amount, from memory that cost $30 many years ago. Just make sure you have the correct SWIFT code and account numbers whichever way you do it !

Probably best to transfer it into an account here in your name, slightly less chance of questions being asked or flags raised in Aus because of anti money laundering and support of terrorism regulations. BUT that may involve jumping through hoops here depending on your visa status ?

Whatever you do, send it in Australian dollars not baht and let the bank here convert it.

As for #4, a friend lives on one of those gated communities in Hua Hin and he has put a “removable “ shed in his back yard, but cannot make any permanent alteration to the property.

When I bought my first House I transfered 30,000GBP in one go  never had a problem.

  9. Looking to buy a set of Kitchen Bar Stools but unfortunately I haven’t had any luck in locating any, seen 3-4 but not very good, wondering if anyone here can reccomend a Shop or Shops with a decent selection, thanks in anticipation of any help.
