  2. Any one know the % tax on a cycling gps head unit, i know there is 7% VAT, but have searched everywhere for the rate, but no success. I am talking about buying online from europe , not aliexpress.

  3. yes you can, I did this to hire a car at heathrow, the only other thing is you will need a credit card, I did this to book it online, then show the hire company when you arrive, then when you return the car you can pay by the card or cash, same as hotels, note if you need to apply for a Thai credit card it can take 2/4months, & you will need a fixed account with the 1,000 gbp min as forthat is what the hire company state.

You can actually book the car with any card, but has to be a credit card when you arrive with the raised lettering format.

I was going to renew my UK licence while in the UK, but you have to be there for 185 day's of the year.

                                                              hope this helps.

Do not get it shipped here using a courier ie DHL or TNT. They collect import duty  automatically for the Thai government. I've looked on Aliexpress and they have the GPS you want. They ship using free 'Aliexpress Standard Shipping'. Delivery in about 20 days. I've never been made to pay duty using Aliexpress.

Thanks I know DHL even add there own charges I do avoid them, but if they pass over to Thai post EMS its not a problem, I too have used Aliexpress & have not been taxed, but nothing over 3,000 Baht, cheapest on Ali still high at 21,200, can buy here 23,500, but at slane under 16,000, & 17,400 for the bundle, just cant find how much duty would have to pay.

  5. hope some could help, I have bought many cycling products from the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, & Holland, clothing seems to be 30%, & parts normally 10%, although sometimes you get lucky, now I am looking at the Garmin edge 1030 but does it come under electronics, if so does anyone know the import tax on this product, I know vat is 7% thanks in advance.

  6. thanks again  ubonjoe, the letter from the bank is when I apply at Chiang Mai immigration there is a lot more paperwork doing it in Thailand, & your wife goes with too. two copies of everything then they send one copy to Bangkok then they give you date to return to get the one year stamp, about a month later.

thanks again for all your help.
