  1. I'm half way through the 7 day medication.  2 x antibiotics plus 1 anti acid twice daily.  I had my blood tested in the UK before moving to Thailand.  No symptoms but the doctor says it's better to treat the bacteria as medical insurance may not pay out if it's noted on my medical records but not treated.  Only drawback is no alcohol for 7 days 🙈

  2. Hi.  I've posted a couple of questions on my visa already and the answers were most helpful.  Hopefully this will be my final question on this visa.

It's a 60 day multiple entry visa.  The visa was granted on the 7th December.  The "visa must be used by date" is the 3rd June.  I'm in Malaysia late May and fly back to Phuket airport on the 1st June.  I'm assuming that I should be ok for another 60 days from the 1st June with this visa.  Is this correct? Or are my plans up in the air? Thanks

  3. Hi.  I'm currently on 6 month multiple entry visa (from the UK).  I go back to the UK at the start of August and then plan to return to Thailand mid October for another extended trip.  My current 6 month visa seems to be fine as I'm travelling about other parts of SEA.  I would like to apply for another 6 month multiple entry for the return in October.  Are back to back 6 month multiple entry visas allowed?  Thanks Andrew

  4. Hi.  i'm looking for a dentist in Phuket.  Nothing major, just check ups and the odd filling or two.  Would anyone have a recommendation for a dentist around the Bangtao to Patong area. I'm based in Bangtao but have a feeling that Patong may have a lot more dentists and possibly less expensive.  Thanks Andrew

  5. Hi.  I'm sure this topic will already have been covered but can't find it on the site.  I will be visiting Thailand as a tourist with the 6 month visa over the first half of 2024.  Later in 2024 I will apply for the retirement visa from the UK.  I need a Thai bank account for the 80k baht.  Can I open a Thai bank account when I'm there on the tourist visa.  If so, what is required and any suggestions on the best bank/account to use.  Thanks

  6. Hi I'm staying in Pattaya in October and looking to go to Koh Chang for a week.  Can anyone recommend a reliable and safe return mini van / bus service that they have used or heard of...and the likely cost.  Probably looking for a hotel to hotel transfer.  Thanks

Nha Trang is full on package tourist territory dominated by Russians and Chinese. Vung Tau just down the road from HCMC would have been my choice for a couple of blokes type stay. Any chance of changing?

Can't change Mahseer. Was at vung tau over new year and liked it. Just fancied a change with nha trang.

  9. Hi Forum.  I'm looking for an opinion on whether or not this is an option for me.  A quick summary is that I'm married to a Thai lady but separated 2 years.  We both live in the UK but thankfully not together.  She is massively in debt (providing for the family) and is looking for help with one of her loans (£10K) which has an astronomical interest rate.  She has been in the same job in the UK for 7 years and is fairly well paid, however, the loan repayments on this and other loans isn't easy for her to manage.  She has a strip of land in Jomtien about 150 yards from the beach which she reckons is worth around 2 to 3 million baht.  She has asked me to help by giving her the cash to clear this loan and she will pay back £500pm - so around 20 months and this would save her around £10K in interest.  Would anyone know if it's possible (preferably in Thailand) for me to use the land as collateral for the loan - i.e. if she doesn't stick to the deal and I get shafted for the cash, then I can sell the land are recoup any loss.  I wouldn't want to own the land (as I couldn't) just sell it.  I'm in Thailand for 3 weeks in April and will probably seek some legal guidance to get an agreement drawn-up and find a lawyer to hold the property deeds - I would also be trying to get an independent valuation on the land and have it double checked that she actually owns it.  However, if holding the land as collateral is not an option - then she'll just have to suck up the astronomical interest rate.  Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
