1. I just watched the whole of the first episode, thanks to Monty's link and help with torrents. :)

Nothing that happened either in Phuket or Pattaya surprises me in the least. In fact I suspect it is the "tip of the iceberg', judging by the almost daily reports in the press, and from farangs of their increasingly unpleasant experiences at the hands of certain sections of the Thai Mafia.

I have no desire to stir up a hornet's nest, but to those who say that it put's Howard's mob in a new light I can only say that it would, wouldn't it?

Howard and his mob have clearly cooperated in the making of this documentary, and for all we know may have had some editorial control over the footage, or at least the right to review footage prior to transmission.

I'm not suggesting that if the cameras were not present he would have behaved any different, but let's keep a sense of prospective here about the merits or otherwise of having untrained foreigners, masquerading as cops, strutting around Walking Street in "blackshirt" uniforms. This programme has been made with the help and cooperation of the TPV's (or whatever they are called), in fact without their tacit approval, I doubt it could have been made at all.

Some of you may recall a recent incident when an innocent punter was filming Howard (without permission) in Walking Street and had a very unpleasant experience.

No doubt Howard will have his own comments to make here :D

    hi . jealousy is a terrible thing , <snip>

  2. That Royal Marine, who seemed to have lost his tongue and backed down like a tropical sunset is a disgrace to the Royal Marines. Surely if you rent a jet-ski you should look it over with the owner before hiring it and take some digital photos as proof of its pre-rental condition.

I have no sympathy for farang drug users and dealers in Thailand, it's just a pity that the Thaksin 'cull' didn't apply to farangs as well.

And the drunken Australian boy, he should have been arrested for being drunk and verbally abusive by the Thai Police who would not have put up with that kind of behaviour; unlike our 'soft' Volunteers.

But very entertaining, thanks for sharing the links. :)

hi . my very thoughts exactly , well done for those comments .

  3. That Howard guy did a remarkably good job considering some of the idiots he had to cope with. Nothing like the type of person the forum warriors would have you believe.

well said , a forum member with some sense

  4. i plan to fly bkk to kk on 15th august then take a bus to udon i arrive in kk just after midday . does anyone know is there a regular bus service from kk to udon and if so how long is the journey . would it be better to take a taxi and if so what would be the cost ?

  5. I really wish I could just go to sleep following an enjoyable night out in Pattaya. I don't like getting involved in the banter surrounding the expat scene in the city and these days, from previous experience, I'm trying to avoid it. BUT.....

Tonight I was walking with friends down walking street when I couldn't help notice several groups of farangs consisting of one black shirted caucasian accompanied by a group of Americans in white t-shirts. I spoke to one of the Americans who told me he was a member of the Military Police taking care of the estimated thousands of American servicemen currently roaming the streets of Pattaya that night. The frang ion the black shirt was their "police adviser" (sic).

All well and good, maybe. Until I noticed that the black shirted farang (police volunteer), who we are all well accustomed to by now, had somehow been promoted into the ranks of the Boys in Brown. I spotted four farangs clad in a vest with the bold lettering "POLICE" emblazened on both sides of their upper torso together with the very large logo of the Royal Thai Police. "FPV" was printed on the bottom of the vests in (much) smaller lettering.

What the hel_l is going on!!? We are all well aware of the rivalry between between Miller and Colov, but now it seems the one-upmanship is being played out in the insignia department.

There is no doubt whatsoever that the uniforms worn by the foreign police (FPV) in Walking Street tonight identified them as bona fide police.

This has got to stop. Now. I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but I was sickened by the sight of some farang exerting authority in this manner. Colov 'sand Miller's gangs must be disbanded immediately and a new group of volunteers established to serve all the the police departments together - regular police, Immigration police and Tourist Police.

Miller and Colov, stop your public displays of preening, and establish an organisation that concentrates on assisting the hapless tourists in an altruistic manner, rather than feathering your own nests.

    dear newbie

i sat and read your post . a post from someone who does not seem to know anything about what is actualy going on around him never mind what the fpv or the tpa are all about . it is obvious from your comments that you are one of the many gossip mongers who just like to winge and moan about anything in life . in my opinion both the tpa (tourist police assistants )and fpv (foriegn police volunteers) do a very worthwhile job assisting many tourists on a daily basis .the tpa and the fpv are not in oposition to each other but have very different roles . you may also have noticed that fpv members do not carry any equipment as the role they carry out at soi 9 or with the navy shore patrol does not require them to do so . your comments are not helpful as these people give up their free time to assist others , what do you do to help others in your life ? please in future when making comments do your own research as do not listen to gossip . <snip>

  6. there where 5 farlang arrested by police last night in soi8 , i was told that they would be locked up for up to a month unless a fine of 20000 baht each is paid . that will put a hole in their beer money . maybe the same guys involved with the security guard . som nom naa .

  7. Thaksin deserves to get his come-uppance.

Conman, fraudster and his cohorts need to be prosecuted or Thailand will become the laughing stock place of the world.

    Go get him.

i feel that thaksin was a very good business operator who made some very good deals, which where close to the wire when we talk about legal , however he made a lot of money and many people are sick as parrots . he did look after the thai people who needed looking after , which is why he is still so popular . imo

  8. Great Idea, All those vehicles on Beach rd racing along going where ?? like the <deleted> sounding thier horns on soi 7/8 intimidating people trying to walk. I hope the law stays. To hel_l with the conjestion, if you need to go to the beach, park up and walk or get the frigin bus, and why do those <deleted> drive down the small sois cruising for pussy, park up outside this busy predestrian zone and walk you idle gits. This law Will make Pattaya such a better place to enjoy instead of fearing for your life that you will be mowed down by one of these idiots.

well said if this works it will be great , no dickheads cruising beach road and the sois

  9. i decided to open a new thread becasue this is the definitive answer and i did not want it to be lost in the related thread.

today i had to go to pattaya mem for a BP check up. normally i walk EVERYWHERE, i loathe songtaews and think the drivers are about the worst representation of thai manners i have ever seen. today was the worst. i 'had' to take the bus (500m mind you) so as to not increase my blood pressure before the chkup.

the price is b5 everywhere save for: dolphin to sukhumvhit, nakula, over jomtien, pattaya tai north late night. those are b10

so i gave the guy b5 and he blew up (and so did my blood pressure). i should have gave him b10 so as to not cause the conflict - but being here 10 yrs and paying this, its just natural.

edit: i told the guy IN THAI > thai's pay five baht, farangs pay five baht -same

the guy repeatedly tried to run me over and then chased me up to (but not into) the hospital. he circled the hospital numerous times with his shrew of a wife in tow.

i called the police and reported that the man attempted to murder me with his vehicle and is now stalking me.

THAI POLICE WORTHLESS FOR FARANG: she stated that if i wanted to take action i had to file a complaint - sound familiar?? if a thai was raped, cracked skull, knifed ... do they have to file a complaint?? no. but i digress.

the woman on the phone CONFIRMED THE DOUBLE PRICING STANDARD. thai pay 5 farang pay 10. i said im here at the hospital - we pay the same. we alsopay the same at the airport, the restaurant, the barber, the cinema... she was speechless - but murmured - but not at the aquarium na. WORTHLESS.

there can be no double pricing FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT - PERIOD. this is racism pure and simple and to prove this my friends daughter who is thai holding french pp pays 5.

as stated prior - we all know why they do not post the price which is further insulting. it appears they will attept to kill you for paying LESS than 10 - but aer quit ehappy to take MORE than ten from you. in the end - they are <deleted> thieves and i am so sick of this crap and pattaya bs and crime in general i may write to the travel agencies and the iata.

thai police support racist double pricing fully. 100% fact.

and btw - the next time someone tries to kill you - go file a complaint!

the price is 10 - period. i stand corrected as racist this policy, 'law' - whatever is...
