    Nope, but this isn't my home country. I wouldnt be driving without a drivers license in Sweden either, but here I pay a fine of 400 baht if they stop me - which hasn't happened in 3 years.

    Haha well it wasn't obvious to me. I read another post were people were saying there are a lot of thais buying/selling without green book. 

     

    It sounds obvious that you cant ride a bike that's not taxed or insured, but this is Thailand after all and pretty much anything goes... Thats why I thought I'd ask. 

  3. Alright everyone thanks for the advice, I figured it's probably best not to buy it. 

     

    Just wanted some more opinions since I'm not really experienced with buying bikes in Thailand, read another thread where they said it was normal for thais to buy/sell without papers.

  4. Hello! 

     

    Came across a bike for sale without green book or papers. Its a 2018 Honda Click 125 that has apparently only gone 1000km.

     

    They are only asking for 10k baht for the bike, saying someone used it as a deposit for a personal loan and then stopped paying so they kept the bike. 

     

    Now this sounds really sketchy to me. Could this be legit? Could I get in trouble for buying a bike without green papers etc? 

     

    Appreciate any help!

    So the law only applies to landlords who rent out more than 5 properties. And there's no way of finding out if your landlord rents out more than 5 properties without them actually telling you? Doesn't that make the law kind of useless? 

    I know for a fact that my landlord owns the 2 neighboring units so that makes it 3. 

    Maybe it's possible to file a claim with some government authority and if she rents out less than 5 units they will dismiss it and otherwise they will force her to make a new contract? Or something similar?

    I've recently read a few different articles on Thai rental laws and wanted to ask if someone has any knowledge on the subject.

    The questions I have are re the lease regulations that were implemented on May 1st, 2018. So the new law (if I have not misunderstood it) states that landlords who lease more than 5 properties need to follow the following regulations:

    - No more than 1 month rent in advance and no more than 1 month security deposit.
    - Possibility for the renter to terminate the lease with a 30 day notice if a valid reason is given, such as returning to home country.

    In a few of the articles that I read it mentioned that this law only applies to landlords who lease 5 or more properties, is this correct?
    If that is correct, how do I find out how many properties that my landlord is currently leasing to other people?
    If the law only applies to landlords who rent out 5 or more properties, is there a similar consumer protection law that regulates ALL leases? If so, where can I find it? 

    I hope I'm not posting in the wrong part of the forums, couldn't find a "Thai Law" section. Anyways, all information is greatly appreciated!

    I read somewhere that you can't get a EG extension to look for work if you've already been to Cambodia before but I guess that's incorrect?

    She does not speak Khmer. I thought it might be possible for her to find some kind of work in a hotel reception or something similar since she does speak English, I guess that is not the case. She wouldn't mind working for 150US a month, as long as she finds something to keep her occupied. We will find a solution re her work situation one way or another.

    I'm considering moving to Cambodia with my Thai GF. What would be the best solution when it comes to visas for us? I've had a cambodian stamp in my passport from a visa run in 2018 but I've gotten a new passport since then. I would be working online and she would be looking for some job as a receptionist, waitress or similar. We want to be able to stay there long term without having to worry about visa problems, is it possible? We don't qualify for retirement visas since we're both in our twenties.

    Any advice is much appreciated!

    I'm a young guy, yes. I'm 22 years old and I do my best to save money as soon as I get the chance. Like I said I will be making 55k on a terrible month, the point I was making was that you can get by on 50k while still maintaining a decent lifestyle. 

    If I have a decent month and keep the same budget I can save 24k. If I have a great month and keep the same budget then I can save 44k.

    If you were making 550k-900k THB/Month when you were thirty years old that's great for you. I'm really happy for you and I hope you have made a great life for yourself. Hopefully I will be as fortunate as you! I really don't see how it's relevant though.

  10. I'm not working yet, but I've recently moved to BKK and I'm going to start working here within a few months now. I've already gotten a job, just waiting to get my work permit and a few other things in order before i start.

    My salary is going to vary, 55-90k a month depending on how well I do each month. 

    Terrible month - 55k.
    Decent month - 70k.
    Great month - 90k.

    Now even if I had a terrible month at 55k and I payed 10% taxes I think I'd still be fine with 50k. I have just signed a contract on a nice 1BR that I pay 13k/month for. Internet, electricity and water and I'm up on 15k. The company deducts 1k every month for health insurance, I can only go to one hospital but it's close to my condo and it's a decent hospital. That leaves me with 34k. 

    Spending 600THB/day for food, cigarettes etc is fine for me, that's 18k for one month and I'm now down to 16k. Lets say that every weekend I spend 3k besides the 600THB/day that would be 12k every month and I'd be down to 4k having already covered ALL of my expenses. So then I've spent 46 out of my 50k. The remaining 4k I can either save or buy some clothes etc.

    So for 50k THB/month you can definitely have a decent living standard in Thailand as long as you don't go crazy 7 days per week. To be honest even if I'd only get a set salary of 55k a month paying 10% taxes I'd still live a good life and be very happy. I don't really understand the people implying that you need to eat food for 50THB if you're going to spend 45k-50k/month, it's simply not true.. You might not be eating imported gold sprinkled caviar every day but you definitely won't be struggling to get by.

    I will be arriving in Nakhon Phanom tomorrow and I'm looking for a place to rent short term (1-2 months).

     

    I was planning on staying in Sankum Mansion close to big C but I couldn't pay online and when I called today it was fully booked.

     

    Are there any similar places where I can rent for around 3.5-5k/month and get air conditioning, internet connection and a big bed? I'd prefer not living too far away from Nakhon Phanom city.

     

    I haven't had any luck whatsoever using Google to find accomodation so I thought I'd give it a try here.

    The usual practice is to get the airline that carry you to Thailand to take you back. The airline/immigration may agree to let that airline take you elsewhere if they have flights going to neighbouring countries.


    Alrighty! I guess I'll just have to hope they don't deny me entry, I'll go to the embassy first thing on monday morning to get a SETV.

    Okay! I'll see if I have time to make a tourist visa or not.

    I also figured I'd be questioned about what I am doing in Thailand, what is the best thing to say when they ask? I will be visiting my GF but I'm not sure if that's the best thing to tell them. Any advice about that?

    I'm from Sweden and I'm gonna fly from Stockholm to Bangkok on the 4th of July. I've been in Thailand from November 2018 to the beginning of June.
    Started of on a tourist visa and 2 border crossings, then I got a education visa for 3 months which I did not extend stupidly enough. (I wasn't sure if I was gonna come back or not)

    Anyways, I'm worried they might give me some issues if i try to enter BKK on a visa exemption now. I've read some conflicting stories on different websites but I'd like to ask what you guys think. Do you guys think they will let me in to the country or send me back home? I'll have a return ticket printed and ready aswell as 10 000THB in cash. But I'm worried they might not let me in since I've stayed so long consecutively. 7 months from November to June and then 1 month back in Sweden only to go back again. 

    I'm thankful for any and all answers!
