I totally agree that TM30 is an outdated law however I have lived here in Thailand for 30+ years and try to abide by all the rules including this one. Every time I return home from a trip she fills in the form pops into immigration and its done so what is the massive problem...unless of course people have something to hide?????

Try getting.your thai wife a visa for australia or nz, you'll soon find out racist and obstructive immigration are then, try being a person of colour going through their customs!!

I have the Elite visa and could use the 90 days reporting site last time, so that's not too much of a hassle. Of course you'd also still need to report once a year at immigration if you don't leave the country at least once in a 1-year period.
With the retirement visa having to have 800,000 baht effectively tied up in a thai bank, earning no interest, most of the year, an elite visa seems quite attractive, 500,000 baht payment, but no money needing to sit in a thai bank all year, and a 5 year multiple entry visa.

Maybe simplify visa system and not putnin new rules every 5 minutes and keep consistent, all seems to depend on what immigration you speak too, some helpful, some resentful
Cabinet okays plan to inspect e-bank transfers of above Bt50,000
