  1. There's quite a few cheap apartment buildings on Sukhumvit Soi 63 (Ekkamai).

They are a motorbiketaxi distance from the BTS.

The problem is that these places don't have websites or email addresses.

You just need to go and wonder around the area and check out the availability by yourself.

  2. I am aware that there are 6 basic DVD 'regions' in the world. Has anyone any idea why the DVDs are encrypted. When I was w*rking for a living, I travelled quite extensively and bought media from many different countries (DVD was still in it's infancy then). I would have been quite upset to learn that I may need up to 6 different players to view my collection.

99,9% of the players can be made region-free, some by simply pushing a code in and some by installing a chip.

One reason why they do it is the release dates. For example some movies are out on DVD in the US before they reach cinemas in Europe/Asia

  3. Got my visarun done yesterday, departure 09:30 from Ekkamai, and back to the same place at 17:55. The funny part of this trip, on the way back we actually passed the Jack Golf bus which left much earlier in the morning. I am not trying to say that Jack Golf’s service is bad, but it is definitely very slow.

Sometimes early birds won’t catch the worms.

Bloody hel_l I was on the same bus :o

  4. Ben,

It is not easy for a farang to find a decent job in Thailand.

I'm guessing English is your mother tongue so you could always teach English...

If you really want to pursue an airline industry related job, my advice to you is to contact all the airlines and the government organization Airports of Thailand (www.airportthai.co.th).

    Good luck.

  5. The quality control at the brewery is shit. Some amazingly crappy stuff gets through it.

If you buy 10 bottles on Chang you usually end up with 1-2 bottles that taste different than the others.

I drink Singha but switching to Beer Lao now that it's somewhat available.

  6. I got one word for you all: PINKY!

Pinky is an Indian guy who has a tailor shop, Pinky Tailor, close to Phloen Chit BTS.

The shop is at the very back of Mahatun Plaza. From the BTS station you can see the King Power Duty Free shop, walk past the shop from it's left side and all the way back to the "Plaza" (looks more like a car park) and there is Pinky Tailor.

    Suits range 4000b - 60 000b. 10 000b gets you a good one.

    Shirts: 800b - 1500b

    Extra pants from 1500b up

I have had many suits done here, a lot of embassy staff and business expats use this place.

It doesn't advertise, word-of-mouth does the job, nor it doesn't have those BS "Armani, Hugo Boss, Versace" stickers on the windows.

Go, buy, fall in love! (..with the suits I mean...) :o
