Do I understand correctly that something or somebody gave you the impression that you were married but that in fact you are not legally married?

Not correctly no . But without the paperwork from the Amphoe in the eyes of Thailand we are not ? Anyway we were also going to have a marriage ceremony in Australia...Covid has delayed that. The cook is ill so i need to get home to sort out a Hospital visit for her !

Considering that you would  be confronted with a 15 day quarantaine period at an ASQ-approved hotel on arrival, on top of the financial and insurance requirements, as well as other covid-measures that need to be complied with, you would be INSANE to go through all that for just a 30-day holiday (half of which already taken up by the mandatory quarantaine).

No TOURIST would ever consider a 30-day holiday in Thailand under those conditions.  The only applicants for the 'Tourism' schemes they launched, will be those that are desperate to return to Thailand because of their families/loved ones living there (and of course they are planning to stay long-term once they entered).

Yep. That's correct mate. That's my situation. The cook is ill so i need to pop home and sort out a hospital visit for her. Been told that the Non Immigrant O-A visa does not require 500000thb in bank.Just need to prove my income as i will be flying back to work in March after 90 days in Korat. That Visa info sound correct ?

TR (tourist visa), also known as SETV (single-entry tourist visa), is a visa that allows a single journey to Thailand for the purpose of tourism. On arrival in Thailand, the traveller is granted permission to stay for up to 60 days. Optionally, a 30-day extension of stay can be obtained.

The STV (Special Tourist Visa) also allows a single journey to Thailand but the traveller is given permission to stay for 90 days with the option of maximum two 90-day extensions of stay. The traveller must stay for a minimum of 90 days. See this recent topic for more details:

    https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1188696-tourism-minister-tells-the-chinese-come-to-thailand-stv-is-not-group-tours/

For either visa, check with the Thai embassy or consulate where you plan to apply for details of their requirements.

Must show 500,000thb balance for 6 months in bank account .

The 500k baht in the bank is only for the new single entry tourist visa. It is a special one they created for tourists to enter the country.

You don't need it to apply for a certificate entry if married to a Thai.

Are you legally married to your wife?

If you don't have a copy marriage of your certificate with you she could email a scan of it to you that would be accepted.

    Cheers ubonjoe.

We don't have a marriage certificate. Thousands of bloomin photos of our wedding at Sunee Grand Hotel but no certificate...and now Covid and i cant get home so we can even go to the Amphoe in Ubon to get one. I send my cash back to the misses in Korat every 2 weeks and invest the rest hence not having half a million baht in the Aussie bank account.

Seems even the TR Tourist visa is now asking for 500000thb in account.

So it seems I'm stuffed until they open the borders up and i can get back home as i normally do just on my Aussie passport and no need for a visa. Bank account doesn't even get questioned then.

  10. Trying to apply for a visa back to Thailand

Below is the reply from the Thai Consulate to my Visa query

1 - To apply for a Non Immigrant O (Spouse visit) visa, you would need to provide a copy of a marriage certificate and registration.

2 - You are eligible to apply for either the Single Entry 60 day Tourist Visa (this can be done at our Consulate by appointment - the visa can be extended in Thailand for another 30 days) or the 90 Day Special Tourist Visa (application is online on the Royal Thai Embassy canberra website - this visa can be extended in Thailand for another 180 days).

You may also be eligible for the Non Immigrant O-A Long Stay/Retirement visa (using the application form on the Royal Thai Embassy Canberra website).

3 - The 500,000 Baht or $25,000 bank balance needs to have been in your account continuously for 6 months.

Hoping someone can actually tell me what the.... if this 500000thb balance you must have to even apply for a visa to get back into Thailand ? Wife is ill in Korat but no marriage certificate which would now be very handy.

This a new COVID-19 cash grab to "Meet" you at the airport ?

Sorry if i am missing something here

  11. HOOPS HOOPS and more HOOPS.

This gets more ludicrous by the minute. No one can agree on anything so why would you risk not getting a refund on 1,000s of dollars paid up for flights and accommodation (locked up for 14 days) for your plans to be thrown into disarray and your money to be lost. Locked away for over 14 days ????

Don't get me wrong . I have been locked away in Perth , Australia for over 7 months now and desperately want to come home to see the wife in Korat but the needing to isolate for 14 days on arrival in Bangkok after having a Covid-19 test after leaving a country with extremely low flu numbers will more than likely change our minds.

Now if it was maybe 7 days quarantine that would be a different story. Or to quarantine in my own house in Korat after having all the Covid-19 swabs shoved up me spouts before leaving Australia. And then maybe swab me on arrival in Bangkok and lock me up in a room for 24 hours until that test also comes back negative for Covid-19.Then get the cook to pick me up and take me home to Korat.

Or open up a Golf Resort and test me every third day.

But hey no alcohol when in quarantine at a hotel ????

Better tell the cook I will be late !!

  12. Have a listen to you lot of killjoys and wingers . So unfortunate that this forum like many other gets hijacked by unhappy old bastards with no joy in their lives.

    So here is the thing.

Some of us are actually looking forward to doing whatever is possible to re enter Thailand to see wives families, girlfriends or whoever. Imagine for a second being a citizen of a country which does not allow its citizens out of that country (Australia) to visit their family that is in another country. Unfortunately my work is out of Thailand and to keep my job i was told to rock up or it would be gone within 24 hours. So i left and flew back to Australia not thinking for a second that this flu would make this the last time i would be hugging my wife !!

For 7 months i busted my guts applying and reapplying for a damn exemption so i could actually leave Australia. Yesterday ..my umpteenth  attempt i was granted that exemption ...oh for small wins against the establishment ...so now i can leave Australia and will do anything i can to get home to see my wife for the first time in 7 odd months. Anything !

All good if you are already in Thailand or do not want to re-enter Thailand. That's fine.

So as your mother no doubt would have said to you all those years ago...stretch that memory Im sure for a few of you... but...

If you don't have anything nice to say Don't say anything at all.

And to those who see this as an opportunity to get home to Thailand i wish you all the very best of luck and i hope you are all reunited with your loved ones and back in the Kingdom shortly...protests and all  ????

  13. Morning  everyone

Looking for help with a few things for my upcoming wedding in Khao Yai actually.

    Firstly ,

Searching for somewhere I can get my hands on 30 dozen oysters for my wedding in Khao Yai late November. Any and all help is greatly appreciated as I really don't want to pay full retail prices if I can help it and cant seem to find a company that can help out. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.. or even a restaurant that would like to make a bit of money supplying these. I know my oysters as I worked on an oyster farm back in Oz and require fresh oysters. That's the main hurdle I need to jump.

    Secondly,

Who out there knows of , or is , a great DJ and has an awesome setup? Light show, can mix up a set of music I have on my storage and can mix up some of their own. And can organise their sound system setup ?

Hopefully someone sees this and can help out

    Cheers in advance.
