    Where? xe.com shows

    1.00 GBP = 54.9836 THB British Pound Thai Baht 1 GBP = 54.9836 THB 1 THB = 0.0181872 GBP

    Convert again THBGBP.pngView Chart Mid-market rates: 2014-05-07 07:03 UTC

You are correct, it's dropped since i checked before i posted, it fluctuates all the time anyway but 10 mins ago was showing 55.6, then 55.2 and back to 54.97 now.. sad.png

Yes, you're right. I can see 55.6 at 06:40 then this now. This looks mostly like GBP opening strongly today.

I thought i was going mad... just looked through the XE charts and it's was showing 55.6, but dropped again, hopefully to pick up again soon... I doubt it will never be back to the happy days of 75-80 to the pound.. but i think it's the least of the worries right now, will sit back and see what happens.

  3. Breaking news on Aljazeera, "Guilty".

but who goes together with her?

It's not looking good for any of the cabinet, they are about to rule on that too...

And the new PM is Chalerm.....I hope not....

Actually, I am dreading the thought of what's coming to the streets of Thailand after the ruling. This won't be an easy transition for Thailand, lets hope it does not decent in to chaos

  4. And soccer oh sorry football is a none violent sport. :whistling:

Actually compared to other sports like Boxing and Rugby NO it's not really a violent sport... it does however attract some less desirable followers..

You can't blame it on the sport itself.... ;)

That's a prime example of the sort of comment that would cause a problem over a game to start with...

  5. Thaksin is such a distant figure these days for most "red" shirts.

The "red" movement seems to have taken a life of its own.

Thinking his death or disappearance will make Thailand go back to the "old days" situation is just pure lunacy.

And it sure worries me as it should quite a few of the guests here...

Thaksin and his friends and partners may be distant as it appear these days, but I am sure he still is behind all these problem by funding these thugs

I just heard on Thai TV that they accused Thaksin instigating all these clashes

Nation Tv news channel stating they know Thaksin has instigated these continued clashes, they are now holding him responsible...

  6. 100% agree, I have spent more than half my life in Thailand and have family here wife and children, many investments & employ quite a few Thai people. I feel it affects many in the same situation as me..

Indeed, but however strongly you feel about Thailand and Thai people, you're still a guest.

And see it on the positive side, you have the possibility to leave Thailand, with your family, if Thailand goes the way of some countries in the region.

And being in the same situation as yours, I hope they won't.

But it does not make me blind...

guest guest guest repeat ad infinitum in my ignore user list...bye bye :)

Never once did i say i was not a guest, All i said is i feel strongly about the situation as do we all, and i want the loss of life to end now..

  7. You are not a very respectful guest here. You obviously would like to tell the Thais how to run their country. That's pretty arrogant of you. Why not go home? Maybe no one their respects you?

Will you get over the guest crap.

We live in Thailand. We support Thai families. We have Thai friends. We pay Thai taxes. We work with Thais. We employ Thais.

    We are not guests.

100% agree, I have spent more than half my life in Thailand and have family here wife and children, many investments & employ quite a few Thai people. I feel it affects many in the same situation as me.. I can't comment on political views of the Thai's but i can have an opinion on the situation.

All be it i am neither pro Red or anti Red.

I just want the loss of life to end, this madness cannot continue or it will be a very bad downward spiral for everyone here Thai and Farang.

  9. Another one never been North of Don Muang Airport. They are so easy to spot on this forum. Made this statement to a few posters and no rebuttle.....I must be right then

No it does not mean that you are right. Sad to say it probably means they are all thinking 'what is the point'?, what is the point of trying to communicate with somebody that is on permenant transmit, and 'receive' is switched off!

100% agreed, what is the point of comments like that?

  10. Peaceful, me thinks not. The red snipers are good at answering warning shots with " Proper shots to the head. The reds are armed to the teeth and are just itching to start the war. They " stole tons of weapons from the army remember?

Oh how easy it is to start, but it will be impossible to stop.

    What a shambles now ?

1 troop, 10 protesters injured in Don Muang clash

One troop with severe head injury and 10 protesters were admitted to the Bhumibhol following the clash between anti-riot troops and red-shirt protesters near the Air Force headquarters.

The protesters were injured by rubber bullets.

The troop appeared to have been shot at his head.

If this is confirmed, it will now show how peaceful the red shirts are, and will show how unarmed they really are !!

Not really armed to the teeth just a few hired malitia who, when required, on April 10th moved into position and popped off mainly officers. The Army as the reds expected kakked in their kakis and retreated to avoid further blood shed. Load of cobblers, they got scared when somebody fired back (its not fair they got guns to). This protest stays peaceful until the army uses excessive force, then the reds fire back.

What planet are you on? how peaceful is it when they dissrupt peoples lives and pull taxi drivers from cars to search them? throw tyres on the BTS line.. enough said..

  11. Channel 3 news just reported that the person that run and left the grenades on the motorcycle left an ID card, The ID card is that of a police man. they are now looking to question such person.

And the hospital in Bangkok that treated the recent injured has now stated they will no longer treat the injured red shirts due to being subjected to searches and abuse from the reds..??

Not entirely sure how true these statements are but interesting news anyway....

  12. I agree that, maybe, there are people who feel that their own interests in Thailand, as farangs, may be somehow in jeopardy as any possible xenophobic people's group (to them) could alter their future here. However, Thailand has a much longer history than the US or Australia or, for that matter, Russia, Germany (only newly recomposed) and so on! Thailand's people are its strength as well as its future. People should trust in them as they have done fairly well (better than the US with its total gunboat diplomacy and internation relations stance) over the entire history of Thailand. I really feel that the farangs should relax and stay out of this entire thing. I will not say who is right or who is wrong, remember that it is the victors who write history! So, no matter what, it will all be so much ado about nothing in the sheer scope of things. Relax. Get your groceries, teach what you teach or do as you do. No one is stopping you, unless you live in the "backpack" area of Bangkok! Otherwise, what purpose do your opinions serve? Why not support the King? He is a better arbitor and far more respected than any of these political leaders. Also, I feel that he will be wise for he has the people's hearts and wishes alway at hand and has always acted with such care and concern for all. Now, he stays out. He may want this thing to reach a certain point before he really steps in to tell his children to settle down, behave and to treat one another well. (My opinion, of course.)

Lighten up. Stay out of the affairs of state for they have nothing to do with the farang. This is the Thai's nation, not yours. You seem to want to make things worse with your opinions and snide comments about the right and the wrong of either side. Let them settle this without your addition of negativity, fear and opinions that mean nothing, and should mean nothing, in the light of this controversy.

I trust the Thai people to do what they need to do and to do it for the best for all. I am sticking by this.

Take care and, of course, peace to all of you.

I am sorry i do have to agree with some of what you say, but to say it's not our business is not entirely true, some of us have lived here and put everything we have in to this wonderful country we now call home and some for more than quater or half thier lives., we have family here, wife's & children. when there is a break down in socierty and lives are taken it affects all who reside here.

It would be so nice to say call an election and it will all go away, but if you give in as easy as that the foundation and structer of what has been built as a coutry as a whole is broken down..

And i am not entirely sure what the Backpacker area has to do with it? it's now nation wide...

All we can do is pray for peace... enough killing has been done..

    Peace...
