I do not mind the trip to Bangkok as I use it to do other things, using  public transport to get to the embassy is explained on there website and  $70 is a big increase / when did it go up?

as far as I know If a person is legally  married in Thailand the spouse has the say on the burial arrangements unless a will is made. so in this case the wife may be arranging a local funeral and any money he has will be given to her unless a will has been made.

the realtor were acting as the landlords agents so there id should be ok and it is the realtors responsibility to file the tm30 .  that is what the owner is paying the realtor to do and that is to manage the property,  unless  I am missing something in the original post.

interesting thread. going by what I read about the woman's condition . I can see why she did not have any insurance as who would give any with her health problems. I also think she should not have left the uk. would I travel if I had the same problem's ?. yes I would and if I had serious problems . it would be my problem not anyone else's

I would not ban any vehicle. I would ban an lot of bad drivers including farangs who think they are driving at home and were most likely a bad driver there

I can understand why a lot of the posters are confused. they did not read the op properly and this is the first time I have read any follow up on a tragic event

so they think it was caused be an electrical fault. having an earth leakage protection would of helped prevent it . also having smoke detectors would of alerted the occupants.

good time to change the law with regard to the fitting of smoke detectors. I know when I fitted one in the house I live my girl asked what it was and even after explaining and giving a demonstration was not convinced of its worth.

It would be interesting to see how little one could live on in Thailand if one really tried.... at least for a month or two.

I wonder how the OP would cope with a spill on that scooter, or bitten by the wrong mosquito and lands in hospital. Yes you can live very cheaply here, but some unforseen things ? Like illness and accident can be very costly.
