  1. Place it a private storage unit or pay a bike shop to store it.

I left my bike locked up in my condo parking lot at ideo  17 lat phrao.

went up to Laos to work three months.  When I came back my wife said the bike was missing and she went to condo security.  The produced a copy from the SSC camera that showed a many carrying it away.  Nobody could identify him and condo security accused my wife of arranging the theft for the insurance payment.  Filed police report to no avail.

  2. Vasectomy.  No big deal.   Is much worse going to Dentist.   Options are Sperm bank , reversal, or finished with kids.

Is not a big deal.  We make it a big deal, but years after you will wonder what all the commotion was about.

  3. Retired after 40 years in the Airline industry in 11 Countries.

Look back at the National Asia Airlines, National European Airlines, the America’s Airlines, as well as others.  This situation is something all the others dealt with a long time ago.

Most everything this National airline is planning on doing, should have been done more than Ten years ago.

I seriously doubt this planned restructuring will make a difference.  It is a simple plaster compared to a required amputation.

  4. 13 hours ago, shortstop said:

I want to start collecting Social Security.   I enrolled in Medicare Part B when I turned 65 by dealing with the Manila office.

I do not have a My Social Security account.  I was put off by the mailing address requirement.   Some financial info gets sent to a friend in New York but that may not show up on credit report.  I also have a different old address in New York that might show up on.a credit report.  I am also concerned about being considered a New York City resident and being responsible for state tax.  I have not been back in the States since 2009 and have no plans to do so which makes the Medicare Part B premium painful but I thought I should enroll.

Does having a My Social Security make it easier to start the process?   I don't need to know the exact amount I'd be receiving as I have a rough idea from an old paper statement and I know every month I delay that my benefit goes up by 2/3 of 1% and there have been some COLA increases.  I haven't worked since my last paper statement. The exact month that my benefits begin doesn't matter too much unless there is legislation passed giving a temporary Covid bump.  I think it is also possible to claim retroactively for 6 months which could be useful if a special Covid bump started for example in January of 2021.

I'd like direct deposit to a Bangkok Bank account.   I could open a new account there or convert an existing account to a direct deposit account.  It seems the banking info is part of the application.  Is this the correct form if I want a ACH transfer from Bangkok Bank New York?   https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/sf-1199-a_dirdeposit.pdf

I am confused and not sure what my first step should be.

Contact Manila?  I saw somewhere one of the requirements is to mail my only copy of my birth certificate to the Philippines which I am not thrilled about.  If it wasn't for Covid, I could fly there for a holiday of sorts.   But then elsewhere I saw that I only needed to know my date and place of birth.

Set up a My Social Security account with a dubious mailing address? It appears the MySSA is necessary for an online application.  If I don't have this account does it make applying more difficult?  I am also concerned about being rejected for a MYSSA and being on some sort of blacklist which makes it even more difficult to apply.

Open the direct deposit account with Bangkok bank?

My experience from dealing with Manila for Medicare is that appointments are needed for phone calls so I want to get everything in order before I try to set up a phone appointment.

Much appreciated if someone can point me in right direction regarding any part of this process.   ????

Manila and all their inadequacies are the choice we have living in Thailand.  SSA is FUBARed enough the way it is, then throw Manila into the equations and sandy for some of the most stupid stunts you will ever witness.

YOU NEED A MAIL ADDRESS where you will receive mail.   Why?, because just like the IRS, whenever you call and ask a question the clown on the other end of the call will give you answer that is very different from the next SSA clown you speak with.  GET IT IN WRITING. Most of the mail correspondence will take 30 to 60 days.

The online SSA site helps, I use it much.

TAXes. Get an address in a tax free STATE and a private mail address where they can sign for your mail and forward it to you here in LOFS.

MED A and B....A is free, but be is not.  The premiums are easy to look up online.  They take your income and filing status from two years back form1040 and use a matrix for premiums.

2019...individual    : married, filing jointly    : married, filing separately    Part B monthly premium for 2021
    ≤ $88,000    ≤ $176,000    ≤ $88,000    $148.50
    > $88,00–$111,000    > $176,000–$222,000    —    $207.90
    > $111,000–$138,000    > $222,000–$276,000    —    $297
    > $138,000–$165,000    > $276,000–$330,000    —    $386.10

    SOME EXCEPTIONS.

If you do not elect Part b,c,d , then if you later decide to take it during the open enrollment period , then you will pay a penalty.

If living LOFS, get a local policy that covers you for 30 days a year in USA, or other temp period.

You really need to go online and download the booklet, there are so many exceptions and unqualified people at the SSA.  Study the booklet..it is major messed up, but one of your only sources.

  5. I had great luck with LAX consulate.  Three attempts to travel and two COE cancelations due to cancelled EVA flight and then expired CV19 test.  Third time worked out.  Now in quarantine and will be paroled in two days.

follow the instructions on the LAX website.   The updated website works very well.  The previous website ( 2020) was a bit cumbersome.

if you want visa exempt, follow that selection.  If STV, follow that selection.  If Non O, follow that selection.  Either way, before you are issued COE all required docs must be uploaded into the system .   All three times I received the COE within five working days.

once you get COE, you have time limit on uploading your flight, ASQ hotel and ASQ insurance documentation.

then don’t forget to plan CV19 RT PCR within 72 hours of departure.   Your medical certificate should be labeled Fit to Fly certificate.   Dr Donna in BKK can do for 400 bht online .

  6. Every other Asian Flag Carrier has drastically changed its operating standards in order to bring it “SEAT MILE PER COST” down to be competitive.

Thai employees seem to think they are immune to competition and holding steady traditional standards.   When their Golden Goose quits laying eggs, they will be scrambling for any job they can get.

look at the history of what happened to the NOK pilots that left in mass several years ago and went to New Gen.  took about two years before the brought New Gen to near collapse.

  7. Very simple International (not Thai) Airline cost projection.    Cost per seat mile.   Call it whatever you want, this is how the industry evaluates its productivity.   EVERY other major Asia flag carrier has gone through some sort of reorganization to adjust it's operating budget to complete with the new LLC's.  That is with the exception of the Royal Carrier with the Purple tail.  They have white-washed concepts and balance sheets, but fail to deal with their "seat cost per mile or klick", call it what you want.  Should they ever bring their seat mile cost to compete with other carriers, they will have to start with all three of the major expenses.  Fleet hulls, Fuel and labor expense.  Yes that includes the "white letter" funds and mismanaged labor schedules.

However, I believe the internal corruption is so ripe that it they won't stem the loses until the Government closes the bank vault. That may never happen, even though productive carriers are pushing them aside.  I would guess that many carriers are competing for the BKK/DKM/CNX/PHK gates that TAT is holding for the Purple boys, albeit at a loss of income.
