Moo-Baan...   who cares whether or not it has a gate, a barrier, the make up of Thai's vs Westerners in the complex, they usually have a security post so people from the public are unable to enter freely. It was pretty obvious what the Op meant to anyone who has spent any time in Thailand.

OP: We've had Nanny's from agencies in the Past. Its a Sh!t show. It doesnt matter what agency is recommended to us by a friend etc it all comes down to the individual nanny. We've struck gold and had a great nanny who had to leave, then we struck out on successive other nannies.

Getting a Nanny who will cook and clean etc is going to be tricky - It may be worth considering hiring a Nanny for that specific job, then having a maid come to your house once or twice per week.

    I know, right?!

    Thanks Richard

  2. My wife (Thai) and I are looking for a Thai nanny/ cleaner. Obviously proving difficult during these strange times. Mainly to look after our 16 month old son but also to include cooking and cleaning.

My wife works mainly from home (due to COVID) but has to go into BKK once or twice a week. I need to go back to working offshore in Europe hence the need for a nanny.

We live in a private village about 10km NE of BKK.

Any recommendations on where else to look would be very appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Matt

  3. Thanks for the advice guys.

I started filling out the form MN1 from the Home Office (Application for registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen) but then found that I have to submit my sons biometric data (just his photo I believe) which you can only record at the VFS Global office in Bangkok (unless we travel to the UK). But to get an interview and record his biometric data at VFS you have to complete an online form with Visas and Immigration on the Gov.uk website.

So now in the process of doing this, I'll update this thread to let you know how we get on.

Oh and I wouldn't bother using the £5.48 email advice service from the UK Visas & Immigration as I got fobbed off onto another department ????

    Thanks again ????

  4. I know that they are (mostly) from the UK because once I answered a caller who had called me three times (assumed it was urgent) and it was just my UK doctors receptionist.

On other occasions the callers have emailed me later to say that they couldn't get through on my number.

Also before a couple of months ago when it showed the actual number it was 99% of the time a caller from the UK.

Seems strange that before it always showed the actual number but now it's always 06** *** ***

I guess the only way around this is to have a Thai SIM to receive incoming calls.

  5. I am a British Citizen living in Thailand with my Thai wife and 15 month old son.

I want to get a UK passport/ citizenship for my son but so far it doesn't seem that straight forward. A lot of the time I seem to be going round in circles.

I am British by descent (born abroad) since birth. Both my parents are British citizens. My son already has his Thai passport.

Has anyone else in similar circumstances gone through with this and what help/ advice can they give me?

    Many thanks in advance.

  6. Before when receiving calls from abroad on my UK SIM when in Thailand it would show the number of the person calling me. I would never answer the call as this would be quite expensive but I could call the number back via Skype and find out who it was from or have a conversation with that person/ company.

Since a couple of months ago when called from abroad it always shows a 06** *** *** number which is annoying as I have no idea who it is from.

Has anyone else had the same issue and does anyone know why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance.
