Free, you are only charged if you send an sms or make calls.
Like I said, I use that mobile for OTP's only and pay $20 for 365 days, all you have to do is make sure roaming is activated on your device and renew it annually online.
My daughter just went into Vodafone to enquire about the $20/365 SIM and was told that to use it overseas even to receive SMS would cost around $5 per day Global roaming.
Have you received SMS OTPs on yours lately? Maybe it's a new policy same as Telstra now.

I also cannot receive OTP on my DTAC number from the Commonwealth bank of Australia but OTP from Westpac bank comes through instantly.
Awaiting Commonwealth to tell me what the problem is, so frustrating.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip...hopefully things will SLOWLY be returning to a "new normal" by the time you return.
There is no new normal, it's either normal or abnormal.
You will be telling us next that we need to build back better ????

An Australian drug known as Ivermectin, which is already in use throughout the world to treat parasitic conditions, is showing great results in killing coronavirus in studies involving patients, according to Sky News.
"Because I'm involved in developing these in the U.S. where all the patients are, there are a number of studies that are amazingly successful. We're talking close to 100%. In fact, we haven't seen a result yet under 100%. It looks like corona is very simple to kill," Professor Thomas Borody, medical director of Australia's Center for Digestive Disease. "It's available as a prescription medication. You wouldn't use it alone ... but you add two other things to it such as doxycycline and zinc."
Ivermectin is already approved by the FDA and is on the World Health Organization's list of model list of essential medicines.
"We had a 14-hospital trial in Bangladesh. We got [cured] 100 out of 100. In China, they tried to reproduce it. They got 60 out of 60 cured ... So I am behind the Ivermectin, doxycycline, zinc treatment because it has very few side effects and is a real killer of coronavirus," Borody said.
Borody said the Ivermectin tablet could cost as little as $2, which is likely why drugmakers haven't promoted the drug's usage. He also suggested that have a cure for the disease easily would do away with the need for people to be hospitalized, which would make doctors less money.
"There's no huge pharmaceutical company behind it to spend millions of dollars and put people in places to treat," Borody said.

The 51st Highland division were falling back to the French coast where they were to be evacuated at Dieppe, but the rapidly approaching Germans cut them off, so a decision was made to evacuate them at a little fishing town called Saint Valery. However events overtook them, the Navy ships could not come inshore due to fog and the German advance. The 51st put up valiant defence but were forced to surrender on the 12th June 1940 as the situation was hopeless and they had run out of food and ammunition.
Churchill sacrificing the division is nonsence.

I am also in the same situation, I traveled to Australia in January and have been unable to return.
Problem now is that if you are an Australian citizen you need to apply to the Government for permission to leave and you need to have a compelling reason and show evidence of need to travel

He certainly knows how to trigger the snowflakes, quite amusing watching them being interviewed on Sky and BBC.
They must be close to nervous breakdowns watching the Queen and Prince Charles giving him a state reception.

And if you throw the US into the argument then since 1946 they have started more wars then any other nation on earth, so thank goodness that NATO is indeed made up in the main of European nations of whom the majority are in the EU and hence have worked together to prevent major conflict
FYI
Yes
European Nations not the European Union
US and Britain were the backbone of NATO, defending West Germany from the Eastern Block nations since the end of the Second World War and paying vast sums of money to do it, so don't give me your EU kept the peace BS

It was NATO who prevented European conflict for decades,
long before the Political EU came into being.

It means an alternative route than not to have any plan to what's best for Britain. Brexit is a failure, but there was a probability had we stayed in the EU to have used our seat to bring about change.
And if that sounds idealistic so does Brexit.
David Cameron tried that already, achieved nothing
