'And 100k insurance is a joke. '
The $100,000 cover is very small BUT the hard part is it has to cover Covid19. I am in the Philippines now and an insurance agent in Manila could not find any company here that would do that. Presumably the cover had to apply for the whole year as well.
Super easy, there are tons of places that specifically offer covid coverage. Call up 7 corners insurance. I paid like $80.

So how did these 165 Filipino teachers get approved?.....And why are 3,000 farang teachers waiting?.......I would speculate most Filipino teachers would be less able to jump through all the hoops and pay the money compared to most farang teachers...
Unless
Some one plans to pay the Filipino teachers less and does not mind footing the bill...
Philippines is in nightmare mode now, people starving, no work they probably sold everything they had so they could come to work.

Can't see any of those teachers affording the $100k insurance, period testing and paying for their quarantines as teachers usually not that flush with cash to say the least...
It is like $80, I just got my COE and VISA approved from Consulate, I actually am about to go on a repat flight next week.

Seems each Embassy/consulate doing things a bit differently. For the Los Angeles Consulate I had to make the repatriation plane reservation (but not pay until COE issued), from that get the ASQ, submit the flight and the ASQ for the COE (with health insurance coverage, etc...), then send in my passport using the repatriation reservation (and rest of package) to get a visa, then all was put together at the consulate. Received my COE late this last Fri via e-mail, then paid for flight this morning (Mon), and passport showing up later today. COVID-19 RT-PCR and Fit to Fly Dr appt set up with guaranteed 48hr results at the latest Aug 28th.
I'm at the O2 in BKK, 38k baht. Did not have a problem getting the hotel on Aug 3rd.
Wow! I am also doing the OCE at Los Angeles Consulate, I leave the 24th. Where id you find a RT-PCR test? I am desperate for this because every clinic I called either does not do PCR tests, or there is 2 week waiting time to get results. If you could share this I would be super appreciative.

Are you out of your mind? Thailand's response has been perfect. No new Covid-19 infections in a month! There are 10,000 new cases per day in Florida alone and 5% are going to die! What would you rather have Thailand or Florida? The ignorance of that post is remarkable.
0.1% of that 10k will die

No idea why rich tourists would choose Thailand when there are so many better options for them, for example Maldives is open in July with no BS or red tape.

literally no reason to buy this overpriced insurance, I got my travel insurance that met all the requirements, 100k, covers covid 19 ect, and actually made it into Thailand successfully with it, total cost was $80 good for 6 months.
