I contacted Thailand Elite about upgrading my 5 year membership to the 20 year membership for 500k Baht (I joined before the price increase) and this is a small snippet of the PDF that came back.
Note that according to this text which is on the upgrade application form payment must be made within 7 days or the upgrade approval is revoked :
It may be that the conditions are different for different members, the form I received also specifically mentioned the 500k upgrade fee so it might be a completely different set of terms and conditions for those more recent members who want to upgrade from their 600k memberships.
Maybe this information will be of use to someone.
Based on what I've heard it doesn't take 2 months for approval, people are reporting 1 month approval times, I renewed my 5 year membership once already and the approval time for that took about 2 or 3 days - that's right - it seemed almost immediate.
For this reason I will do the international bank transfer into my Thai account before submitting my application just to make sure I have enough cash on hand to make the transfer immediately on approval.
I was referring to applying to a new elite visa not upgrading one.
I did it this year and I had 30 days to make the payment.
The processing time varies, they told me 1-2 months, mine took 2 months. They give me the same time estimate for upgrading.
Also, you can use a credit card(one with no foreign fees), you don’t need to do a bank transfer. That’s what I did, got some points in the process.

In the period from September 15th to October 15th no agreement can be made for the Visa Elite, do you think they will accept that you will do it after October 15th when you will know the new requirements? I strongly doubt it, but then always try to ask.
It takes about 2 months to get approved, if you apply now, you will be approved around mid October, then you can decide to go through with the payment within 30 days.
The details on the new packages should be announced on October 1st.

There is no certainty that they want to increase the cost to obtain the Visa Elite it could only be to modify certain rules of the Visa, if instead they greatly increase the amount I agree with you that they are incompetent because they will take the opposite effect.
We'll see
Thai elite(not an agent) told me that it was almost certain that the new packages would start at 900k for the 5 years.
There’s no reason to wait for the new packages if you’re thinking about applying since you can back out at the end before paying.

Can anybody confirm if there will be an extension/upgrade path for 5 year elite holders to one of the new packages after the transition period?
If there is, it will be a lot more expensive.

Where does it say this?
I was told directly by Thai elite by email and talking with them on the phone.
They do a criminal record check which takes 1-2 months, 6 weeks on average.

Reminder: the cutoff date to upgrade is in 3 days.
If you are unsure about upgrading, do it now. The process takes 6 weeks and you can back out at the end before paying.
At that point, we should know all the details about the new packages.

If you want to upgrade, you need to do it by mail.
Just in case 11 days was too much time…

I assume you are applying for a e visa.
If you got the e visa while in the country you would lose some it's one year validity is the only thing that could happen.
Immigration would not know you have one until you use it for entry.
Yes, I’m using e visa. So does that mean I could renew a visa while in Thailand and I could just go to a neighbor country and back to activate it?
-
My current 1 year multiple entry visa will expire a few weeks after I arrive in Thailand. So I thought it would be better to renew now while I’m in the US.
My question is what happens if I enter Thailand using my old visa and the new one gets approved after?

Did you bother to even read the story... The whole point is he tried to use the apps, and the drivers have to cancel because the tuktuks mafia will beat them up and or trash thier cars if they dare come pick up a customer.
This story doesn’t mention that. Either way, you can always arrange a slightly different pick up point to avoid the tuktuk mafia. I’ve done it several times.

Just use the apps (Bolt, JustGrab, InDriver), way cheaper and no misunderstanding over the price.

Pray tell what they will do with a stockpile of 125 million doses of vaccine at the end of the year if as he has said before that the country will be 70% vaccinated by the end if the year. Just what vaccines will be in the stockpile and will they all be given using the very new and still not officially approved intradermal injection method.
Happy to see the numbers of cases and total deaths are decreasing, but it would be nice to know how many were actually tested.
Unless I’m missing something, you can calculate the number of tests using the positivity rate.
Positive cases / positivity rate = tests
Today would be 76719 tests.

There’s so many things they can do to attract foreigners before easy property laws.
Rich foreigners don’t want to deal with:
-90 day reporting
-alcohol bans
-the government flip flopping every other day
-the government leaking personal information
-corrupt police
…
Now, if you want to attract Chinese investors that won’t live here and contribute to the local economy then yeah…

Let’s do the math for fun.
Assuming the best case scenario:
We hit 30 millions by September 1st, leaving 70m to go.
7x4 = 28m for AZ
30m for Pfizer should be delivered in Q4
So if the government buy another 12m Sinovac, they could reach their target.
I really hope it goes perfectly because Thai people could sure use a break.

Meh, if you’re going to come up with random numbers, might as well aim for the top.

Is there a plan to remove the ban on alcohol too? Tourists like to get drunk.

“78.2% of the respondents are confident that they will be able to resume their normal life, once every Thai has received their first dose“
“6% are confident that Thailand can reopen for economic recovery after every Thai is vaccinated with the first dose”
Is it me or these survey numbers always sound made up?

I think they mean 25% occupancy and this is for dark red zones.

You are wrong as is the next idiotic poster. Test has been required for about 9 months for Thai citizens returning from India. Following is information from RTE Delhi FB for upcoming flight.
ผลตรวจ COVID-19 โดยวิธี RT-PCR อายุไม่เกิน 72 ชม. ก่อนเดินทาง
I stand corrected. Thank you.

I assume that no negative COVID test is required for Thai citizens. Yeah, that should be interesting…

Physical Altercation Between Guards and Customers on Soi 6 in Pattaya Goes Viral
in Pattaya News

The security videos from inside the bar have been posted.
The security guard clearly threw the first punch after being taunted by the white shirt guy. Their job was to deescalate the situation not start fighting a bunch of drunks.
