Roundabouts only work if people know how to use them, i.e. give way to the right before entering, and respect right of way (there's that phrase again).
Roundabouts in Thailand would just result in jams as the idiots try to edge their way forward and cut in.
that goes hand in hand with enforcement and training, it is no excuse for not introducing a safer way to do things

Wife had a one hour lesson on a Monday (first time she had ever driven a car)......'passed' her test the very next day...but didn't actually take her test...why?...... it was raining????
No way is she driving by herself until I've spent a good twenty hours teaching her on open, quiet roads.
I know a girl who has been driving a car for a couple of years here, to my surprise she recently praised herself on FB the fact that she had just got her driving licence !!!!!!!!!!!

Road safety is just a joke here:-
1. No helmets
2. No tax/insurance
3. No licences (or bought licences)
4. Underage riding
5. No Proper tests
6. No road safety training
7. NO ENFORCEMENT
Hard to think the approach to road safety by the Government could be any worse or inept.
If they had a plan to kill as many people on the roads as possible what they are doing (or not doing) would be a resounding success, that is how bad it is

Despite the enormity of the situation, resolving it could be achieved, through proper education and law enforcement, but there seems to be neither the will from government to do anything about it, or the desire from the general population either. They seem to be happy to die in numbers as long as they don't have to think or obey laws they don't like.
accountability is another issue
The DPM responsible for road safety should be fired, the buck stops with him

The biggest factor contributing to the death toll here is lack of law enforcement.
Buy a few trucks, set up the road blocks and start pulling over bikes first. No license, bike in the back of the truck, issue the ticket to appear in court. No helmet, park the bike issue a ticket and walk home or get a helmet delivered or go buy one and get the bike back. Drink driving, confiscate the bike or car, cancel the license until court appearance. Have more highway patrol cars on the road actually pulling over dangerous drivers and according to the infringement, park up the car or issue a huge on the spot fine. A better system so the police have access to drivers history, that will determine the course of action taken at the point of being pulled over.
until that happens, things will not improve. Can you imagine the change in attitude if they applied these simple adjustments, yes I know it’s Thailand.
totally agree with everything you said
also simple things like overtaking only on the right on all roads will stop lunatics weaving all over the lanes to get past, also slow vehicles stay out of the right hand lane
introduce roundabouts and block all u-turns, they are just too dangerous
many simple things would make a huge difference
But, ultimately laws only work if they are properly enforced

maybe the quoted person in the OP hasn't heard of it or it does not apply to Chinese tourists, maybe they have different rules, would not surprise me at all

They really are driving a nail in the already buried coffin.
The people in charge are not there for their mental capacity or qualifications, that has been obvious for a very long time
and as pointed out, why only foreigners getting this special treatment

not so sure the Chinese Virus is under control in Russia they stopped releasing data weeks ago
This government are going to put us all at risk if they continue down this path of self destruction, they need to start using their foreign reserves and support their people, yes it will dilute and devalue the baht which isn't a bad thing for the country which relies on exports and tourism

remember that over the claimed17 days she was tested at least 3 times and then suddenly she reported symptoms on the 16th day, how convenient and also impossible based on everything known about this Chinese Virus

this means the French woman who was infected in quarantine who reported sick 2 days after leaving would have been spreading the Chinese Virus an extra 4 days
great idea Anutin well done, your extensive medical qualifications are serving the people well

But how would you be able prove that you have been riding a big bike for years? Okay, some foreigners may have proof in the form of an appropriate license issued in their home country but with regards to Thais, the
only evidence they would have is their existing motorbike license.
they have records of registration for everyone, my current green book is 17 years old and in my name

May be the Virus survived on something , the previous ( possibly infected ) occupant of the quarantine facility , touched ?
Not good enough cleaning ? Would not be the 1st time ...
There is a certain risk to become infected by quarantining ...
maybe maybe maybe
I said weeks ago that these so called quarantine centres would be a "HUB" for virus spread and that on top of all the other exposure risks while travelling

but no, the military unelected have decided that it is some sort of security issue
if there was ever an illustration of a seriously defective mindset from people who rule by intimidation and the gun, this is it, shameful horrible power mongering corruption
is there an education involved in any of the unelected running this country
Nope

They don't Abe, Thais on Q flights are not required to be tested for Covid prior to boarding.
sure about that ?
regardless, I think these quarantine centers and the planes they travel in are hotbed super spreading environments, if you didn't have the China Virus before traveling all it takes is one infected person and you're likely going to get it
It was reported that gym equipment in the ASQ hotel where the French woman stayed was contaminated with the virus

For god's sake test them before flying so at least they can be isolated from others in the plane.
