It was just a suggestion as an option when it will possible to enter here without any restriction or if they allow retirees to enter the country by getting a certificate of entry.

At this time you cannot apply for any visa unless you qualify for a certificate of entry.

You just need to keep an eye on the news and topics on this forum. There is no dedicated topic for that info.

This page on the embassy website has info about who qualifies for a certificate of entry and the procedure to apply.

Thank you so much, you answered both my questions perfectly !

At this time you cannot travel to Thailand. Only those that qualify for a certificate of entry needed to board a repatriation flight enter the country.

Perhaps consider applying for a OA long stay visa that is valid for one year from the date of entry and allows unlimited one year entries to day it expires. It is possible to get a total stay of almost 2 years by getting new entry just before it expires.

    See: https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/non-immigrant/

Thanks ubonjoe. Not sure why you have recommended I apply for an OA long stay visa if travel to Thailand is not available ATM ? Is it because its relatively cheap and I'd be good to go when borders open ?

Also, I've searched but cant seem to find a reliable place/thread I can follow to keep a finger on the pulse of when borders may reopen and what the requirements of qualifying for a certificate of entry in the interim.

Really appreciate if you can help with any info please ?

OK, under those circumstances (French citizen eligible for the Embassy issued monthly foreign income letter), applying for the Non Imm O Visa would be the better option.

But for UK, US and Australian citizens, as well as those that are not eligible for an Embassy issued income-letter, there is no doubt that applying for the Non Imm O-A Visa in their home-country is the best option.  When not returning to their home-country before the 2 years that Visa can provide them, they can of course switch to a Non Imm O Visa to get rid of the health-insurance requirement.  That health-insurance requirement is a nuisance when applying for the Non Imm O-A Visa in your home-country, but it is relatively easy to do (if you know how).

Hi Peter, can you stretch out what a "Non Imm O-A Visa" is in its full form for me please ?

And you also wrote "That health-insurance requirement is a nuisance when applying for the Non Imm O-A Visa in your home-country, but it is relatively easy to do (if you know how)."... can you explain how please ?

They should now introduce the "Prepaid Future Fun Act" where you send them 10,000-20,000 baht now and they will add your name to a list so when you finally do get to come next year they will make sure you have loads of fun at a 25-30% discount. :wai:

It appears they have... Buy Elite visa now, get an extra 6 months later ! https://www.thailandelite.com/at-your-service?locate=en&popup=false

I can/will definitely attach an old SSD to my laptop than I know has his details.. but any help to locate him otherwise is much appreciated !! how cool is this <deleted> ????

  6. Hi All,

I'm looking into what possibilities remain post the advent of the Rona for a 50 year old Aussie with very solid financials to obtain suitable visa arrangements such that I will be able to remain in Thailand with relative certainty of stay for 10+ years.

I am aware I may be eligible for a retirement visa but have no idea if these are being granted ATM or not.

I welcome and thank anyone for any advise, but considering these things seem to have been complicated by the Rona, I'm really interested to find a visa agent with a great reputation. I have done many searches of the forum for like "best visa agent" etc but have not found anything.

Really appreciate a point in the right direction or actually any responses that would give me a feel for the general sentiment as well as any specific barriers about moving to Thailand ATM.

    Cheers, Thanks!
