@Tommo - Foreigners may have a house registered in their own name, however they may not own the land underneath the house. Many foreigners will put the house in their name and secure the land via a Long Term Lease on the land which gives them the right to live there. Once the foriegner passes away, the land reverts back to the Thai wife.

Bangkok Hospital has signed an MOU--Memorandum of Understanding to purchase 10 rai of the property at Port Takola.

Can someone please give me an idea where the new Takola Marina Ao Nang is located? Wannabe comedians need not reply with "Ao Nang". Just a description of the nearest big resort, or some kind of marker.
Also, the City Plaza Krabi Town, is that going in on the riverfront by all the seafood restaurants?
Thanks, GOM
The Port Takola Marina will be located in Baan Laempho--on the way to Fossil Shell Beach

One good school not mentioned is Montfort College--while not an "international" school it's English and science and math students in the English Program are always at the top of the academic competitions with the international schools. It has an excellent academic reputation and its feeder universities in the US are the University of Michigan and Yale.

... However, having said that, the Samoan alert was cancelled yesterday as well and yet as Churchill posted there was in fact a tsunami that killed 99 people. So maybe these bulletins are not so hot?
The tsunami from this earthquake in Western Sumatra was reported to be 27 cm. only. The tsunami alert has been canceled in Indonesia according to CNN at 6:50pm Thai time

Krabi is cheaper than Phuket for real estate--you can get a small house near Ao Nang for 4 million and be 5 minutes to the beach. Do a Google on Krabi homes or real estate and cehck how the prices compare to Phuket

Thinking of making a few days off from work in Krabi.
Where to stay in Krabi or Ao Nang, silent, as natural as possible, somewhere small place local ownership prefered.
Some diving should be possible somewhere near.
Any ideas/good/bad experiences?

House construction & Architect.
Hi. I just bought 1 rai oustside Ao Nang. Hope to start building this year. But where can I find an Architect, design or pictures? I have search the internet for weeks, but cant find anything. It seams that the first person that has a wheelbarrow is architect, constructor and constractor! My Thai "wife-to-be" is laid back;"don´t wullly, we find one when start"!
I looking for a combination of cement and wood. I like the traditional Thai houses.
Help!!
Take a look at www.thai-land-house.com
Try Ton Company or Krabi Consultants, both in Ao Nang, western managed with many years of building experience with projects for reference and most imortantly, legally registered with all the correct licenses. Beware of local builders or westerners that aren't licensed, they will be gone in a flash at the first sight of a problem.

Tracy doesn't teach at the

I fly Thai Air about at least twice a MONTH--mostly domestic Thai flights. The website isn't any better/worse many others--but the last two weeks they have have some server issues and I had the same problems as the first post. It seems to have cleared up this week though.
