  1. Hello

We have had great news today.

My Thai husband was granted residency to Aust.

It took 6 weeks after his interview at the Embassy. His interview went well; His case officer notified him on the day that his application was stong however we needed to provide an Assurance of Support (AOS). - As I have not yet organised employment for my return to Sydney.

Other wise he would have been granted his visa on the interview day.

My parents arranged to be his AOS through centrelink in Aust.

*** For those of you who need to organise an AOS in the future - Be sure that the staff at centrelink knw what they are doing and have provided this service before. My parents had a mishap when the centrelink staff gave them the wrong forms to fill in, they also didnt contact my parents to inform them of this incident. My parents later called to make enquiries and were then told. They went to another Centrelink office and had the service completed and approved in 2 days.

My husbands case officer was great to both him and myself. We are very happy with the service the embassy gave. Also Thanks to the regular posters who have been through the Aust visa process - you wer lots of help.

We are now going to enjoy Songkran in Thai and then head to Australia after that.

    Cheers. trina

  2. Hi

I will be returning to Australia in a few months time from Bangkok, and have heard Jetstar are amazingly cheap.

Has anyone recently flown with them? What class did you fly? How was the airline?

    Any other good deals going?

    Cheers,

    kat

  3. Thankyou,

the last two postings cleared that question up.

    appreciate it!

    Hello,

Im not sure what date to write for Question 12 in form 40 SP for Australian Partner migration.

Is it the date that --

    ** we decided to marry,

** the date we became serious OR

    **the date we married!!

    Thanks

Question 12 is the date you started living together in a spouse like relationship without marrying. This, if you read the question, means the day you started living together in an exclusive permanant relationship without periods of separation.

If you did not live together prior to marriage, I would leave this blank...the wedding date is covered in question 13...If it is an issue it can be addressed at the interview stage.

  4. Hi GPT,

Have you personally filled out form 40 SP??

If you have not, then you would not realise that many of the Questions are very similar and the wording can be confusing.

In addition, even if a couple is married, there may have been a period before the marriage that they were in an interdependant relationship.

Hence, Im asking for non-sarcastic, helpful advice.

  5. hello,

In the early stages of filling out the documents for my husbands spouse visa to Australia, I remember reading that I had to include a letter stating my intentions as a sponsor: that along with filling out the final page(Sponsorship undertaking) in form 40SP, I need to write a letter stating: I will fulfil the duties required of me as a sponsor etc.

Lately I have been trying to find this information on the Imm. website, but have been unable to.

Can anyone confirm that a written letter of this kind needs to be written!!??

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Hello

I'II be tavelling with friends to Loei in January and am after some advice on where to stay.

We will be in Phu Kradung Area in the southern area of Loei province.

Can any one recommend a lodge, resort or camp area?

Has anyone visited and camped in Phu Kradung National Park - any recommendations??

Loei Should be beautiful this time of year. cant wait.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. 1) The test results (certificate) is given in English.

When you are at the police headquarters they will ask your girlfriend what the check is for. Tell them for Australian visa purposes - and they will know that the report need to be given in Enlish.

You can pick up the results yourself abut 7 days later, or they can send directly to the Aust Embassy. We chose to pick them up ourselved - didnt want it getting lost in post.

    2) Its more than likely your girlfriend will need a medical test. I think getting it done before submitting the visa is best - they will post to Embassy. So that when you submit the application - the test results will already be in the hands of Embassy staff.

    Good luck

  8. I recall reading in one of the documents that once you have been informed that your application was successful they generally state that you can pick it up shortley after, however it then stated that if you were not ready at that time to migrate to oz, you can then inform the embassy on your intentions and a date that is suitable.

This will also be the case for my husband and I.

Best to ask the embassy when you are at yor interviews...

  9. Hi there, my partner and I are almost ready to submit our application, but I have a few more questions before heading to DIMA.

1.) Do applicants for Aust partn visas need to be tested for TB when having their medical tests?

    - We will go to BHN, will the nurses know what to test for, or is there a list on the DIMA website of what the applicant needs to be tested for?

    -------------------------------

2.) Ive read this forum over the past few weeks and have gained alot of answers. Ive become alittle confused by one posters Questions.

    - As far as id found out, once a thai document is translated into English, Stamped and signed by the translator, this document can be presented with the application.

    * What ive since read on this forum, is that the document may then need to be taken to the Foreign afairs office to be again stamped. Or taken to the Aus Embassy to be again certified.

Surely once the translated document has been stamped and signed by the person or agent who translated it - this is ready for submition???????

    --------------------------------------

    3.) Marriage document to submit.

With our marriage Certificate came a document in Thai that states place, date and names of those who married - IS this the document we need to submit with our SPOUSE visa application??

Thanks in advance for your help.

  10. To answer your question...Yes there have been cases where insufficient funds was a reason for a rejected application

    [/quote

    Thanks for reposting my question.

I work in a school in Bangkok where I get cash in hand, and I dont use a bank account here. I will be sending a letter from my employer with my monthly salary stated, however I dont know how I will be able to prove my savings, unless I show them cash.

My father has also offered to be an AOS for us, if we need it.

I dont yet have a job lined in Aust, however my partner has been offered a job in Sydney(in a friends company), and we will be sending a letter from his soon-to-be employer along with the application.

I am worried regarding funds as I may be unable to prove I can support him, (although we can prove he has a good position ready for when we arrive). Can anyone suggest what might happen if I cannot prove savings.

  11. If you look at the website it will tell that if you apply for a fiancee visa and after applying you get married...you are to inform the Embassy so that the application can be changed to a Spouse visa application.....both visas use the same form.

I did read this on the website at some point.

Thanks for re-pointing me in that direction.

it needs to be the extract from the Goverment Department that handles the keeping of records of Births, Deaths and Marrriages

Will the department give me the true document or a copy of this??

    Thanks for your time..

  12. Hi there,

*Firstly Ive got a Q regarding Stat. declarations.

Along with the stat declaration my friend wrote for us, he sent a copy of his birth certificate as required, however Im confused as to what a 'certified copy' of this entails.

Ive looked in the information booklets online but have not found clear answers.

The birth cert was certified at his birth. Is this sufficient enough or does he need to have it certified by a Justice of the peace AFTER he has made a copy of it??

*Also Im looking for advice on Types of Visas for Aust.

For the past few months my boyfriend(fiancee) and I have been planning and preparing documents for our fiancee visa application. However over the past few weeks we have weighed out our options and decided that we may marry in Thailand as opposed to Australia, bringing the marriage forward 5 - 6 months.

If we take these steps we will then apply for a spouse visa. Our main worry with this, it that if we marry within the next month and then apply for the spouse visa shortly after, the Imm. Dept will see it as a rushed marriage (in order to get a visa), which may negatively influence our visa case.

We have been together 3 years, lived tog. 1 1/2 years, and been engaged for just on a year, and while we may bring the marriage forward substantially, it is not going to be a spontanious and rushed marriage.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Has anyone applied for a spouse visa shortly after marrying their partner?

Were you questioned about the marriage?

    Any opinions/ help welome

    Thanks.

  13. My thai partner and I have been together for 3 years and will soon be applying for a fiancee visa to go back to Aust.

We have lived together for 1 1/2 year, however we have not always had both our names on the apartment contract. Our current contract which has both names, however we have only been here for 6 months, prior to that we dont have proof of living together except one letter that we addressed to both of us at that address.

Do you think this will cause any problems in assuring them we have lived tog for over 12 months???

We also have emails to parents, that include info about us moving in together. i think im also best to include that ??!!

  14. For those familiar with the penang run and have got visas there.

Do they ask for proof of finances as stated in the visa info on this site. It says they ask to see proof that you have 20,000Baht when issuing the visa.

    Is this common?

I know with the 30-day visas they very rarely ask to see proof of finances on arrival at thai border, I was once asked in the northern border of Mae Sai, but never have been in Poi pet.
