  1. Hello, I read on Thaiger that the Covid extension has been extended to September 27th. I am currently on a Non-O marriage visa. I have already visited immigration and they said I qualify for the extension. My visa expires in mid-August. Can I extend for 60 days on, let's say, August 10th and then extend again for 60 days around September 27th? Or should I go extend today? (I'm wondering if it matters.)

    Thanks.

    1. The 60 day extension to visit your wife is still available.

There is also a 60 day covid 19 extension you can apply for now.

    2. The 400k baht has to be in a Thai bank for 2 months on the day you apply for the one year extension of stay.

You can apply for the the one year extension near the end of the 60 day extension when money has been in the bank for 2 months.

If the borders were open you could still apply for a non-o visa in Savannakhet.

Thank you for the replies. It's good to know that SE Asia is pretty much locked down. I didn't know this.

In the case of the 60 day covid extension, Thaiger says one of the following must be true:

    • A foreigner cannot return to their home country due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
    • There are no return flights available.
    • The foreigner has a letter from their embassy requesting temporary stay.

The first bullet is what I would be hoping to use. I technically can return home, it's just very impractical after having just moved back here from my home country and then spending two back-to-back fortnights in quarantine. I was told this extension did not apply to my case. Is there something I'm missing about the 60-day covid extension?

    Thanks

  3. Hello everyone,

I am currently in Thailand on a Non-Immigrant "O" class single-entry visa. I have about a month left before it expires. I have two questions.

    1. In the past, there was a one-time extension permitted for 2 months. Is this still possible?

    2. To extend for a year, I need 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account in my name. Does the money have to be in the account 2 months prior to the extension? (I remember the immigration officer telling me that it had to be in the account two months before. Thus the purpose of the extension.)

In summary, is it possible to get the money in the account before I need to get the month extension, and then extend for a year at the end of the two month extension?

Back up plan: There was a single-entry Non-O spouse visa available at Savanakhet in Laos without the 40k/month or 400k baht requirement. Is this still available?

    Thanks for your help.
