What about colour blindness which affects 10% of men but is rare in women?
Based on the colour test would they not be allowed to receive a Thai driving license, although they have already passed the test in their own home country?

He's bound to sneak into the UK, claim political asylum, and be granted it in a flash.
After all we are home to many 'terrorists', the latest being a high profile case last week where some Al Queda operatives were found guilty of a plot to bomb the British public. But they will not be extradited back to Pakistan, just stay in the UK forever.

There are at least 4 different videos of him out there on the web. I did a Google search and found them.
In one of them he is throwing rocks at the army and shouting "kill the army".

Regarding the letter "Affirmation to marry". Is there any proper checks on statements such as the person declaring themselves as "single" are true or not?
I am pretty sure that someone I know declared this and yet he is really married to someone else who deserted him in Thailand, but never got divorced officially.
If this is true then presumably the "new" marriage is not strictly legal?
It also follows that over a period of time (some years) the embassy issued 2 letters of Affirmation based on him claiming he was single on both of them, surely?

Hi,
I will probably be at Ban Pol (just about 2km east of Amnat Charoen) for Christmas.
If anyone else may be around there at that time then please get in touch.

I believe it used to be part of Ubon Ratchathani province but then split off around 1995.

I have searched through various sites such as Ajarn.com and I have also Googled a search but there seems to be no vacancies coming up for the province of Amnat Charoen. Difficult to even find a list of schools in that province.
Does anyone have any leads which may be worth following up?
Is it practical to just turn up and hope for the best? Personally I don't want to work in the Bangkok area and I would have thought that up-country (and in remote areas) they would be crying out for native English speakers with qualifications.
I do not mind if the salary is lower being out in the sticks and I already have somewhere where I can stay. If it is easy to get work out that far then all well and good, but if not then I need to do some forward planning.
However where do I start looking for this type of work? For example is there a list of names and addresses for Schools? Or a main contact who I can go to for vacancies or help? Any list or web site would need to be in English as I cannot read Thai.

When I try to read topics I can only see the first message. Below that is the replies but they are shown a bit like in a tree format and I have to click onto each one to read them, one at a time.

A few days ago I could read the entire set of replies on the same page without having to click onto snything. I am wondering what has gone wrong or if I can change this back to this method?
If it is relevant I am using an Apple Mac, Safari browser (cannot right-click) on a Mac).
Hope I have explained this sufficiently.

Thanks for the info. I plan to move out there permanently in another 3 and a half years if things stay on plan. With occasional visits up to that date.
Anyone want to PM me in the area and I will respond. I know what you mean about occasionally meeting up with other foreigners and would be happy to do that, hence my original post here.
My girlfriends house if just east of Amnat, about 1km or 2km outside the city. Not sure of the name of the village at the moment, will have to find out.

Does the Retirement Visa still have the option of either
800,000 Baht in the bank (for at least 3 months before applying)
OR
regular monthly income of at least 45,000 Baht
I understand that for the Non-Immigrant (supporting Thai wife) visa the only option now is "regular monthly income". But I just want to make sure that for new applicants for the Retirement Visa it will be good enough JUST to have enough money in the bank (which I do have).

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on this forum lives in or near to Amnat Charoen, or is planning to do so in the future.
I currently live in Pattaya and England, and my girlfriend has a house just outside Amnat which I have visited before.
In about 4 years time I hope to get a Retirement Visa and live in Thailand. I am giving serious consideration in moving to her home in Amnat but do not know much about the area.
So I was wondering if there may be any members here who can give me any info, or if there are any foreigners living in the area and what they think of it.
thanks,
A
