  1. I have quite a few bitcoins that i bought as an investment. My wife is a thai national and has a bank account etc. in thailand.

A few thai based companies now exist that let you cash out bitcoins upto 10 at a time. The payment can be made to various outlets- a thai bank account being one of them.

My question is... is there a limit on the amount of thai baht one can receive in a bank account from a tax registered thai based company before one has to pay tax?

    Regards

  2. hi my wife(thai national) is applying for indefinate leave on the 16th or 18th of july via post. the setm form requires the uk resident (me) to provide there passport as proof of i.d.. however my passport is due to expire on the 18th of july 2009 2 days after we post the application . will this be valid or shall i apply for a new passport? regards.jim

  3. hi all,

my wife arrived here on a settlement visa last august. we have a lituk test booked at our local centre in sheffield in may. is this considered too soon to take the test? is there a minimum length of stay in uk required in order for her to take the test ie. she cannot take the test if she has been in the uk for less than 12 months?? all opinions welcome.jim

  4. we had settlement visa and my wife (travelling alone) never encountered the problems of smilingjim.she got ask who she was meeting at the airport? etc.....the basics, in a friendly manner by the immigration official(manchester airport). a fiance visa could encounter more in the line of probing questions, nothing to worry about for your missus scotty.

  5. hiya scotty,

the banks need proof in the form of a doctors letter (which can take an age to recieve by post due to registration times at the surgery) or a utility bill, i found that adding her name on a water bill was quicker. by asking them for your last bill, they will add her name on that (takes about a week), this will give her addiquate i.d for an account.

  6. hi i am wanting to know if any of the major uk supermarkets stock a large variety of thai ingredients ie pappaya (for salad) sticky rice, tamarind etc. the chinese supermarkets in our region are quite a distance away from us.your thoughts and views will be much appreciated.jim

  8. My wife has just been granted a settlement visa for the uk. first time visa application (of any kind) and no interview,we went through a pattaya based agency. i cannot speak about the actual presentation of the documents handed to the embassy as i was in the uk but i would like to give a few pointers which i thought maybe should be shared with everyone. i dumped the agency with a load of documents aquired just from reading this forum..... you can never have enough!!

My wife is a receptionist we're both late 20s,we have been married since may ,known each other since november 06, 3 more visits since november ,i have a £20000 a year income, factory worker and live at my mums, £6000 savings , no credit card debt (at the time of application) and at least £300 in my current account for the last 6 months. the agency said that "AN OVERDRAWN ACCOUNT IS OF NO USE WHATSOEVER". and of the photos provided "NO FOOTBALL SHIRTS AND NO PHOTOS IN THE BAR" also photos of yourself with the family of your wife in SMART ATTIRE and you and your wife in NICE RESTAURAUNT AND/OR SCENIC LOCATION go down very well with the embassy.

please take from this what you will.j
