  1. I closed my bedroom door tonight to go downstairs and have a few beers out front of the house and inexplicably came back to find I couldn't get back in again. Things just keeps getting worse! I've been swearing mildly for the last 20 minutes but I intend to step up to severe profanity if the situation doesn't change by 9pm.

If only I were joking. :D

Someday they will have nuclear power stations here. What will happen when you have protesters running around opening and closing valves willy nilly. :o:D:D

  2. Out of interst, any predictions as to the retaking of BKK? Is there a chance that the airport could be open by next Sunday? (I guess I'm looking for reassurance or something, anything. Sort of like faint hope.)

I don't care what side anyone is on, shutting down a national airport for over a week is plain retarded.

This is just turning out to be reality game show. SNAKES and PADDERS

The Lord said smile and be happy, things could be much worse... :o ...........BANG

  3. My visa expired on 27th Nov.Fight cancelled on 27th.Went to immigration today 28th BKK,I had to pay 500BHT overstay plus the 1900BHT.The officer told me if I got a letter from British Embassy (this was at 3.00pm and being a Friday) they would've given me a 30 day extension.(and how much would the punka wallahs at the Embassy charge you for the letter.)

    I've a Non-Immigrant multi entry.

    I'm a optimist.....but it doesn't help much. :o

How many days extension did you get?

7 days..... to the 5th Dec

  4. I just called the British Embassy and they told me that there ia an arrangement with the Thai Immigration.

IF YOU HAVE A CONFIRMED TICKET OUT OF THAILAND FROM 26th ONWARDS, YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR OVERSTAY.

  5. The PRIMARY task here is not figuring out who's going to be in charge of the country, but clearing the airports and restoring international connections to the country. This is completely unacceptable.

A gigantic wooden Elephant has been seen being towed towards the Airport.Looks like the Government is trying to reconcile with PAD. :o

  6. AYUTTHAYA : Twenty foreign tourists were robbed in their sleep on a bus and awoke to find they had been left in the middle of nowhere
I can't imagine anything more disheartening then to have your belongings stolen while half-way across the planet from home.

and even worse to discover it in such a very unsettling manner... waking up to find you and your group abandoned by the roadside with no one and nothing around..... :D

Allowing these criminals to get away with this with only a slap-on-the-wrist just perpetuates all this foolishness. These bad eggs

continue to destroy Thailand's reputation as a tourist destination just to steal a few quick bucks. :o

Will TAT be advertising this as a "Thai Adventure Tour" in some glossy brochure (contracted for and produced by the TAT Governor's brother's company)?

Been reading stories like this for 20yrs and the Embassies do nothing to warn they citizens about the dangers of going to Thailand.

  7. I defend Thailand because I like the people, I like its culture, its history, its diversity.

To bash a country by comparing it to another is counter-productive as it is easy to find examples of digraceful behaviour in any country.

All countries have faults but all countries have good points as well (some countries' good points are better hidden than others though!).

Ex-pats who defend Thailand "at all costs" do not necessarily think of themselves as Thai but are probably enlightened enough to see that Thailand deserves a fair go against some of the vitriol published here.

Here here I totally agree with you theThai people are great they are a very proud group I have never seen so many flags of a country than in Thailand I believe it is one of the few countries in asia that has never been run by European countries eg Burma Loas Malaysia Vietnam Indonesia Singapore just to name a few the thais arer great people im married to a Thai lady and one day I hope to live permanently in this wonderful place issan area of course

That is one of those "The glass is half emty," or "Half full" statements.

The good news is that if you ever go to Heaven you won't have to learn to speak Thai.....because they won't be many Thais there.

  10. At the Royal Thai Consulate in Georgetown, Penang. Apply in morning and pick up next workday afternoon.

Down Penang last week.Lot of people having problems for visa at Thai embassy.I work in Saudi on 28/28 days rotation but still unable to get any kind of multi entry visa.

What about applying at the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh, or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah. Provide a letter from your employer confirming your 28/28 day arrangement.
