Sorry for that dr Pat Pong.
We have discussed my NON O A visa earlier but of curse I have to state nationality and age for every new topic.
So. Swedish. 44 year’s old.
I am not there yet. This is only the first NON O A for me. But George told me that it can be hard to qualify for residency and that made me worried.

I have now a NON O A visa “take care of wife visa” and have heard that if you apply for this kind of visa for 3 consecutive years you are eligible to apply for a residency visa.
However George says that it is hard to qualify for that type of visa.
Is there anyone who has some experience on this issue???
Best regards
Skalman.

Hello George.
If I came to Thailand with an ED visa and change to a Non O-A it had to be a bridging visa OK ?.
I have already get a multi Re entry permit. (1000 THB) Just after the NonO-A that they give me.
What do you mean when you say that’s it going to be very hard to”qualify for residency, but it's very hard”
Thanks for your god site.
Best regards.

I came to Thailand this time on the 8´th of December -02 With an ED-visa. After a couple of weeks I went to the immigration to enquire about what paper needed for the extension every 3 month and if they had some list on approved schools in BKK.
They told me that such a list didn’t exist but I had to get a lot of different paper in order to extend my ED-visa every 3 month.
After that the lady on the Immigration told me that there was another alternative since I am married with a Thai wife. She called it “take care of wife visa”. We vent to another office and the lady there told us that all we need to get this visa was 200.000 THB in the bank and a statement for that, marriage certificate, some photos from our apartment.
We fixed all that and I now have a visa for one year. I still don’t now what type I have but I think it is a NON O visa. Please correct me of I am wrong!!
I read somewhere that if you apply for this type of visa ( NON O) for 3 consecutive years you can get a resident visa. Is that correct??
Dr Pat Pong wrote on the 18´th of Mars in the topic:
Visa extension without leaving kingdom: There is no bridging visa available in this country.
I think that in my case there is.
Comments are appreciated.
BTW. Swedish citizen. 44 years old (today)

Hello Jason.
I say go for it. It’s your life and you have to live it. Mai pen rai how much money you need every month. It’s up to what standard you want when you live In Thailand. If shit happens all you need is a ticket back to US. OK. I live in Bangkok (Sukhumvit) my rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is 4500 THB. I have my own washing machine my own kitchen so I can live cheap if I want to. Shop and make my own food. Ladies and bars will be more expensive but that’s up to you.( I am married)
Don’t let some bored middle age farrang like Jonniebkk tell you how to live your life.
Just a tip gets as much information as you can get before you come.
Good luck and don’t listen to so much to bored people.
Best regards.

I came here on an ED-visa in December. I had my computer and other personal stuff sent by air cargo from Sweden in total 6 boxes (100 kilo). I declared that the computer was for my study and all the other stuff was for personal use since I planned to stay here for one year.
The officials told me that since I don’t have a work permit I had to pay tax for the computer. However there was some people at the cargo terminal working as “agents” and the helped me with all the paperwork’s and imported all 6 boxes as T-shirts (who I assume are no tax on). This “service” was not for free though. The “agent” wanted 2500 THB for it.

My cousin heard on Swedish TV that 100% of all of the deceased from SARS had Chlamydia. Have anyone else heard the same?
