I am in Loei city and would be interested in playing golf with anyone brave enough to play at Loei's infamously difficult course .

In Sisaket there is a new 9-hole but I dont know it's a good one or not , because i'm not playing.

I have played in Loei at army base and it was decent. I was wondering if there is any other good courses in area like udon or nong khai? Alsi are there any golfers there who like to play and any who have leagues or regular play.

i am uk citizen currently on a 1 year non "O" , on expiry of my current visa if i got the relevant letter from the tourist police would i then go to Vientianne to obtain a non "B" and if so would it be for 1 year or does that depend on the letter ? Also would i require a work permit even though i would be a volunteer ?

I think Udon Thani would be the best starting point , if you find that does not have enough for you then Isaan is not for you . Udon has tesco , big c , carrfour , makro , a few restaurants with very good Farang food , cinema , ten pin bowling , gyms , golf courses and as previously mentioned a little bit of a bar scene . Khon Kaen is similar but not so good on the bars and restaurants IMO .

For the casual type of relationship you are talking about you should be giving something . Rightly or wrongly thats how it works in Thailand , give them some money and say "buy yourself a new shirt/skirt" , "here's something towards your rent" , "buy yourself some food" , "this is for the bus" , "get some petrol for your motorbike" , you both know what its really for but you just don't say it . I would say anything less than 500 would be seen as an insult .
