  1. I recommend Crystal Spa, 1541 Sukkhumvit Road, Phra Khanong, just in front of the BTS station.

    Very professional and relaxing.

Hmm thanks, i might take a look that too someday...

  2. You might want to head on Sukhumvit Soi 12, Sukhumvit Plaza or Korean Plaza. There is a rather nice korean spa/sauna called "King and I". They have all types of massages, scrubs and so on. 5th Floor is massage/dressing area and entrance to sauna (for men). On sauna area you will find good sauna, ice room, jacuzzis that have Ice, medium hot and hot water. Prices are decent. Place is not like ShangriLa for sure but staff are really professional and nice and in overall it's nice place.

    Their website is: http://www.kingand-i.com/spa/spa/

I never asked do they have similar sauna area for ladies but I guess that they do, you might ask first just to be sure... :)

  3. @MDS, It really depends on what you are looking and where in HH you would like to stay. Downtown HH some fancy condo place and you can pay over 100.000bath month for your 2-3 bedroom place but I hardly think that you are looking for that.

You can get fairly nice single houses for rent starting around 20.000 bath/month a bit further away from central area. I used to have one 3 bedroom, livingroom, kitchen, 2 toilets with shower room on nice quiet area not too far from center and they had even their small gym and swimming pool on village. From our house it was about 2km to main street and then another 2km to center so fairly close. 10 minutes with a motorcycle easily.

Other than that you need money for everyday operation like food, drinks, mobile phones, electrocity. So let's say if your monthly budget is 100k - 25k for house = 75k left.. Yeah with 75k 2 persons can live fairly nice life in HH.

I actually doubt that you can spend 75k every month unless dining on fancy restaurants etc every day. Normal living in HH is not that expensive after all.

Getting your place. Best way to do that is just go there. Book a hotel for 1 week and during that time just look around. Maybe you need to move 1-2 times before you find ideal place for you and your wife.

Central HH is full of nice hotels and also 1 week / 1 month rental places. So as said, first just get a hotel then travel around a bit, get 1-2 month condo rental and look more. After that you know fairly well what is around there and from where you would like to get more permament living area.

  4. Well i need to open my mouth on this.. Webfact has disinformation at least on one issue. I just yesterday used City Link from Makkasan to Phayathai and I did not have any problems to walk from Airport link station to Phayathai BTS station.

There are bridge between those stations and no need to go on street level.

  5. Wimax is dead already, Nokia and many other companies who developed Wimax has dropped it totally. They are aiming 4-5G networks.

in Finland and few other countries there is @450Mhz "wifi" netoworks that covers 95% on the nation. Ok it's only 1Mb network but still. It can be easily adopted to 470Mhz here in Thailand.

@450 radio cell has about 50km radius. They installed wimax also but just as a small pilots in small cities, tho no success...

  6. Yep agreed with others, book ahead. Even tho tourism is down a bit, it is still busiest time of the year. You need to remember that also locals travel a lot.

Sure you can always just drop in and get room, there is always some free on resorts. But to have a good room with good price, book advance. At least for your main stay place, then you can got and make one/two night trips to where ever and book it locally....

  7. Hi All,

Maybe this is a bit OT but... I was trying to find information to one of my friends friends problem but goole did not give any answers so I was thinking to post it here too.

Situation is that one Thai lady is married with a Finnish man and that lady has two boys living with her in Finland.

Oldest boy will be 18 in few monts and now they have start been wondering about military service. Both boys still have Thai nationality but they have been living about 10 years in Finland.

Does anyone have any ideas how in this situation Thai military works? Does they need to go to Thailand and serve their time in military or not? Do I remember correctly, in Thailand young boys need to go to selection and get some red/black ribbon or something that desides does you need to go to military or not?

Also if he need to go to army and he does not, can Thai goverment ask from Finnish goverment to get boy back to Thailand?

And what are penalties in case he don't want to go?? Probably traveling to Thailand might get interesting turn on their next holiday trip.... :o

I think they are not alone....
