  1. 'cheap Thai building blocks might work , without going into a bunch of equations about pressure and stuff ??? You're kidding right?

In ground, the walls are supported by the surrounding soil. Above ground, by the surrounding air....

Why didn't you go there in person to look at the parrot ?

You could have closed the deal then and there.

I have an Epson L210, ink printer, 3 in 1, bought at Powerbuy Pattaya next to foodland.

Good things about it: Huge tanks (4) and you buy refill bottles fairly cheap. Photo printing quality is okay for a 4 tank color printer.

    Bad things:

1: I print a lot of A4 photos and they fade away if I don't laminate them, so I bought a laminater machine.

2: After the Win10 big update 2 days ago, the scanner don't work anymore. Tried load  new Epson software yesterday but no, no scanner anymore, which is bad news for me because I need that quite often. Still working on it.

3: As with most inkjet printer, they don't like to be left alone for 2 month and the nozzles clogs up. I now have to print in photo quality in order to get good test prints.

Check carefully how much refill cartridges cost before you buy anything, they sometimes cost about the same(or more) than the whole printer, that's why I got the L210.

Re #2 above: My Brother printer's scanner also does not work with Win 10. Exasperating, as I use this feature a lot. Will revert to Win 8+ soon. Guzzi850m2's last statement is so very true.

  4. Wow!

Indicates the Tampa Bay area may be very atheist friendly.

Of the 51 metro areas of at least 1 million residents, Tampa Bay placed 50th in its percentage of worshipers. Only Portland, Ore., stands between us and eternal damnation.

Also in the article a poll conclusion that St. Pete is the saddest city in the country!coffee1.gif

"St. Pete is the saddest city in the country!' Seems appropriate for for one of the saddest posers in Thailand. Sheesh ggg gauy, get on with it...

  5. Cats are pretty quick. How does a snake eat a cat? I would like to see a prequel.

Cats are quick but pythons are a flash in comparison. The cat may well be mesmerized like the pup in the following:

Puppy seems entranced just before the python in a flash grabs the dog by its head before constricting it…

  6. I've heard a lot of good things about Lanna. The campus isn't the most beautiful, but it is my understanding that they are moving to a new location. Price seems reasonable as well.

At least students aren't clipped about their heads like one teacher used to regularly do in the pre-Prem days.

  7. I'm with BUPA International. Outpatient only (Myself through work, Wife and Son through me at approx £1700 per year, with a £500 deductible)

When researching I saw that BUPA Thailand have 'capped' limits. i.e. if something were to seriously happen you'd find yourself running out of cover. Be very careful when choosing the cover you require.

However, I have found that over the past two years BUPA International have raised their premiums by 12% each year, something which I find excessive and unfair - I may consider changing to a more reasonablypriced cover. I'll have to start researching again.

You may wish to consider LMG Pacific Health Insurance. I left BUPA after 20+ years, a few weeks before my 65th b'day, because of their excessive premium hikes. Luckily i did so prior to my 65th as that is the cut off for LMG, as an extensive physical exam had to be completed and submitted to obtain approval prior to turning 65. FWIW

  8. I pay around 15000 baht for a BUPA insurance. It cover most things, like accidents , several types of diseases , but not cancer .

If I would get unlucky some day and get a really serious illness that insurance does not cover I can still get back to my home country for free health care (Norway).

15000Baht? Very inexpensive. What BUPA Plan is that!

I once had BUPA coverage but had to cancel after several years as the price kept escalating, even though not having used it.

Even 3 years ago BUPA coverage was well more than 15K:

[ What is the price for the BUPA Thailand package? http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/651172-bupa-platinum-plan-skip-outpatient/

BUPA International classic (female, 35 yrs) is about £1400 / 66,000 baht

BUPA International classic (male, 38 yrs) is about £1750 / 83,000 baht

Both plans cover MRI etc but not regular out patient visits...

Skipping the out patient premium is a reasonable and perhaps cost effective idea...]

  9. ^ I guess we're combining deaths into one topic based on nationality?

I think this was the case I read about on FB recently; although no details were given. They were raising money to have the decedents remains repatriated. I was surprised at what they were saying the cost to repatriate one's remains is. I could be wrong but I believe they needed over 250K THB to get him home.

The family raised $19,000+ usd. To ship a dead body. The money was raised via "go fund me". Maybe all of us in financial need should ask for such favours? Sorry but I have little sympathy for seasoned bike rider..speeding... And maybe angry and or drunk. That money should have been raised privately via family and close friends. I was even asked to chip in.. Never met the man.

Why not a quick temple pyre burning, then forward the ashes by Federal Express: a solution even I am considering upon my demise.

  11. I wonder if a French Muslim kid brings a homemade clock in a bag with wires and batteries and shows it off what will happen. The school did what was right by calling the cops and confiscating the device in his pencil box.

./. and Obama the fool brings even the kid to the White House.

Just deport them to Qatar and let them stay at the Qatar Foundation. The ISIL backers in Qatar must have been impressed by the electronic device when he passed School Security.

Would he has done it by the way in his native country Sudan, he would have been popped of in seconds.

Obama at times does overstep, failing to wait an apprpriately lengthy time before responding to such media issues.

This is the standard roundup container found in Thai garden centers. The Thai name is the equivalent of 'roundup'. About 270B and the liter bottle goes a very long way.

  13. To prolongue the sharpness and life of my Gillette and Bic shaving blades I stand them blade down in a small container of vegetable oil. Works well. Been doing it for years as I purchase blades when on sale, and store them in an airtight container with a few dessicant packs, available for free from your local pharmacist from large empty pill containers. FWIW.

  14. Its not fair to suggest that insurance will not cover you if you are riding a scooter.

Of course travel insurance will not, but this guy was a teacher and not a tourist.

Most decent accident policies (he could have bought one for 4000 baht) would have covered most, if not all, of his hospital costs.

Its important to have some accident cover, that way the whole bill is scrutinised by the insurance company even if you have to pay part of the bill, the total will be lower as they cannot get away with stupid irrelevant charges as they always do with uninsured patients.

Exactly what accident policy is this, please?

  15. Well I went in today at 1:30 talked to the girls out side. Was informed they only give out 20 numbers a day. I asked what if it is 3:00 and they had seen all 20 she informed me that they only give out 20 a day. Was like talking to an empty chair. I asked her what number they were on now and she said 11. I thanked her went next door to the outfit that does it for 3,000 baht asked them if they could handle it for me they said yes. I would have to wait a little bit to get my picture taken. Sat there for a bit they called me took me next door took my picture and I was out of there at 2:15. Paid her the 4,900 baht for the registration fee and her services had a bite to eat saw a movie picked up my passport and I am set for another year.

The girl who took me to the immigration office was tired she said she had to get up every day at 4:00 in the morning. As said elsewhere not professionals but then again the final result was just as good as a professional with a masters degree. The best part of it was I didn't have to chase all over town. One stop and I was done. I am not sure how they do it but I think they get tickets for the afternoon regardless if any one is scheduled or not. I was out of there in 45 minutes after I showed up and I noticed the queue tickets on his desk said 15. I doubt he had done 4 in half an hour when she told me 11. Also it was nice to see they had a loudspeaker. Only a few hanging around out side when I got there so I went inside and there was 33 sitting in there waiting. Left after the show a meal and some shopping and noticed their was still about 7 or 8 staff working.

So 7900B all up for retirement extension using the folks next door. How does 7900B compare to the other Visa Servicing agents? Cheers....wai.gif
