3 people resigned?  That sounds draconian.

Was the article factually wrong?  .....to what degree?    Could not a retraction have sufficed?

Methinks there is more to this story.  Perhaps the implicated person (Scaramucci) had threatened a mega lawsuit.    That's usually how despots get their way in that realm.  Both Thaksin and Trump have threatened and instigated hundreds of frivolous lawsuits - to try and shut people up from speaking truths.   It's an ugly trend.

Yes the article was factually wrong.  That's why they resigned.  Probably told resign or be fired.  Why paint the victim of false reporting as a despot when you have nothing to back this up?

  2. The letter finally arrived after almost 1 month.  I was told by friends in America that homeland security had caused the slowdown once the mail arrived in America.  If this is the case, I am wondering how EMS or anyone else can get the mail delivered in 3 or 4 days.

btw. The Thai mail service said certified, registered or airmail all took about the same time - 10 days to 2 weeks..  The holdup was in the US.

  3. What is the fastest way to get a letter to the USA.  I sent a letter by registered mail almost a month ago.  The letter shows as arrived and dispatched in the US for 14 days now.   It still has not arrived. I am thinking it may never arrive.

It contained a document I got at the US embassy so it will be a pain to get another one.  How do I get it to the US by the fastest method?

  4. Doctors say that with a healthy diet, humans don't need vitamin supplements. They do more harm than good. Vitamin companies are brain washing you.

Largely, yes, but I still think there is a case to be made for some supplements for some people.

    And the aspirin isn't a supplement. It's a medication.

Have you Googled low dose aspirin lately? Is seems current thinking is that healthy men do not need it.

  5. I would love to buy the drugs at a pharmacy, but the dermatology center at BHP gives me lotions they have formulated themselves (in their own bottles with no name on it).

The bill has no detail, just a total price for medication, when I get four different meds. I figured it was useless to ask for the names of the drugs.

Are these medications I can buy in a pharmacy? I think they are expensive with cost of medications usually around 1k baht.

I don't think I should have to demand the name and price of the drugs dispensed.

  6. If it is Tennis Elbow and it is caused by playing tennis, consider taking tennis lessons from a "good" instructor.

Bad form on your tennis swing causes tennis elbow. I have been taking lessons from a very good instructor in Pattaya. He stresses good from on the swing. Says that my tennis elbow will not return if I use proper form. Seems to be working.

  7. I have banked with BB since 2011.

I am on a retirement visa.

About, one year ago I went to the Tha Phae branch of BB and asked for a credit card. I secured the account with a 100k baht deposit.

Fifteen minutes later I was approved.

A week later I was sent a Visa card and, to my surprise, a MasterCard.

Yes, and soon (if you haven't used the cards) you will be charged about 3000 and 4500 baht service charge. SURPRISE!

  8. I have True Vision, a Minix box and all the content I can download from the internet. This is enough.

I do not want to watch anything on Sophon. I don't need any more inputs (like a second Sophon box).

    I watch the 40inch TV.

I need another TV, Monitor or Tablet to plug the Sophon feed into.

Maybe I don't need anything as I asked the lady and she said she could watch on her Phone.

But she still asks me to put on Thai TV sometimes.

I think some of the posters have had a Chang too many before posting.

  9. Wow, some really lame non-informative replies so far!

    Let me be more explicit.

I don't care about your thinking on life, love or what content I should be watching.

I am happy with the content I have available. I watch what I want.

Sophon comes with my condo. It is cheap, and I cannot opt out.

I only asked about hardware solutions so that I can allow my Thai lady to watch Thai TV while I watch something else.

If you want to talk about something else, start your own thread.

  10. Take a look at the Lenovo Thinkpad. They have one with a solid state hard drive that is very thin and light. The salesman says it boots 10 times as fast as the standard hard drive. The battery life is good also. In America it costs about the same as the MacBook Air.

I didn't buy one as I purchased another Lenovo model a few months ago.

Just to expand on that. The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon is a nice machine. It has almost the same form factor as the Mac and is all solid state. I am very happy with it and have had no issues over the last year or so since I got it. Bootup is very fast compared to normal drives. Not sure about the price as it is a company machine, but it can't be as much as a Mac...

The Thinkpad X1 Carbon sells for around 68K Baht (street price) in Thailand - the most similarly spec'd Macbook Air (13", 4GB RAM, 256GB flash storage) sells for 42K Baht.

The Air is 26K Baht cheaper.

The Repair guy at Best Buy in America said that hard drives are the most common part to fail and that Lenovos are the most reliable computer they sell. This is the model I was looking at. True it's in America, but I think Thai prices are only slightly higher. This one is about 40K baht in America. ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd Generation

  11. Like I said, I am getting about 150 channels. There are several movie channels. I am not going to list them. You can check with Sophon.

I don't think the first box was for digital terrestrial tv. It had the coax connection for a cable. My friend experienced a similar problem with a different box that he bought (not at sophon).

  12. After one week, the technician showed up at my condo. He changed some settings and got the speed up to normal.

He said if I had the problem again to reboot. I had done that several times before, with no improvement. This worked for about a day then the speed dropped down to .22 mbs (almost stopped), Rebooting did no good.

When I called this time they said that they checked the speed to my building and it was normal, so they did not call me. I would swear that earlier, the representative said the speed to my building was below normal. Since they installed the line to my room, I expect them to provide service to my room.

  13. My friend told me that Sophon was offering 150 digital channels and all I had to do was buy a digital box for 700 baht.

I went to big C and told them I wanted the digital box for Sophon Cable. They got a digital box for me. I bought the box.

It was temperamental and if the connection wasn't perfect I had mosaics and pixilation in the picture. I also only got about 25 channels.

My friend kept investigating and finally found you need to talk to Sophon and get their box. I bought a new box from Sophon for 790 baht. It works great!! I get almost 150 channels, many high def. and great picture quality.

Anyway, I wanted to let people know not to buy a box at big C. Get the box from Sophon.

    No extra charges from Sophon.

  14. I called the 1530 number yesterday afternoon about a problem with my internet. The girl asked me to switch off my router for 15 mins, and said someone would test the line and call me back shortly.

Sure enough, in under 5 mins someone called, said there was noise on the line, and that a technician would come. I asked when? (Bearing in mind it was a Saturday). She said "Today. Certainly no later than tomorrow". He will call you before coming"

He called 11:30 this morning, and was there 5 mins later. Pleasantly surprised, as I didn't think they worked Sundays.

    Where do you live?

Still no reply from 3bb. Last time I asked to be transferred to the local technician. When they answered, I asked if they speak english. They hung up on me.

  16. I has now been 6 days that I have been calling 3bb about my internet problem, and every day they say someone will call me back.

    No one has called back.

I have been calling the 1530 phone number, which I think is in Bangkok. Yesterday they forwarded me to the local technical site. There, they told me that the technician had checked my building and found that the speed was Below Normal. No other information like when or if they would do something to correct the problem.

I asked if I had to pay for the days that my service was bad. They said "yes".

I am getting pretty frustrated with their lack of service.

  17. Have used 3bb for about 6 months now and has worked well. I live near Sukhumvit in Pattaya.

About 4 days ago internet service became very bad alternating between slow and stopped. Down load speed usually less than 1mbs and upload not working or about .02mbs. I pay for 13 mbs service.

I have been calling their service department for 3 days and they say they will call back but they never call. Anyone else having these problems.

  18. I own a condo just South of Pattaya Klang, off of Sukhumvit, The thought of having this situation for 3 years makes me want to move. The one-way at Soi Khao Noi and closure at Soi Siam Country Club makes things that much worse.
I think this will make it almost impossible to sell until the roads are open again.

Thai engineers take no thought of the effect their decisions have on others. Instead of closing the intersection for a short time while that part of the road is affected, they close the intersection well before there is a need due to construction at the intersection. I expect that, like other construction sites I have seen, there will be many days when no work at all is going on at that site.

    It is extremely frustrating!!!

I know... if I don't like it, I should just go home.

  19. Good. If only tourism on Koh Tao would stay down. Year after year after year.

Trip Advisor has been mentioned on a few of the relevant Koh Tao threads as of lately. There was, now closed thread "Should We Still Go", with negative reviews removed. I was not quick enough to have seen the negative reviews "Should We Still Go" but one TV poster has confirmed their existence in an earlier post. Some question Trip Advisor and even laugh it off as no surprise. I do...

I Just identified a new Trip Advisor thread "Is Koh Tao Open" I will also post this on the other active Koh Tao threads here on TV.

Many, TV members that have posted on the relevant Koh Tao murder threads have claimed the need to warn and educate the uninformed tourist of potential or realized safety concerns of/on the island. It is a need, same as any other destination. I could care less if the island economy is booming or in decline. However, I am curious to see if any one here takes two minutes to sign up, sign in, and post there opinions on the relevant Trip Advisor thread.

Should be interesting...Should also be interesting to see how quickly Trip Advisor closes the thread.

The above is my reply/post on the "Grand Travel". Just to be clear, I will not be taking the time to create a Trip Advisor account and post my two cents as I do not care how the island is impacted by good or bad press and find that any effort is a waste. I do not have a dog in the fight as I have no good or bad experiences associated with the island. Ethical and moral issues with how the situation, involved parties and their actions and how the case has been handled, yes.

i used to rate and use trip advisor but not so much anymore after they, for no justifiable reason barring they were negative, removed some posts about koh samet and the Bangkok sky train.

Trip Advisor is removing posts and closing topics that discuss the murders on Ko Tao..
