  1. The number of ladyboys offering their services in Pattaya corresponds to the demand in the city for those services. Where there is demand there is supply. They are not my cup of tea so I would try to avoid them if I was out alone. That might mean crossing the road, turning round and going the other way, popping into a bar or a shop. If you approach them you are likely to get a proposition; I've yet to see anyone with a sign round their necks saying "No Ladyboys Welcome". You are just as likely to get propositioned by a "straight" girl if you are out alone, but, of course, no-one seems to mind that so much. A proposition from a ladyboy is not a deliberate slur against anyone's manhood; it's just a business proposition. Take it or leave it with good grace & humour.

If ones "service" is robbery, then does the number of robbers still correspond to the demand? Ie, if noone wants to get robbed, will all the robbers disappear?

There are far more LBs than there are demand from customers, and the reason is they are not looking for customers, they are looking for victims, and when one party (the victim) is not taking part voluntarily, then the normal rules of supply and demand obviously do not apply.

You are just as likely to get propositioned by a straight girl yes, but you are at least 100 times less likely to get robbed by that girl, and probably 1000 times less likely to get assaulted.

  2. Another breach of human rights by the Boys In Brown. Being a trans sexual is not against the law, nor is being on the streets. I can just imagine the indignant squawks on Thai Visa if next time around the swoop was on homosexuals or heterosexuals on suspicion they might be up to something naughty (which in Pattaya is more than a remote possibility).

Live and let live, guys. Or girls. Or in-betweens. Or not-sure-yets

    Let's get real here.

The majority of men who visit the walking street are heterosexuals many of whom have a dislike of Ladyboys.

They are men with pride and the last thing they want is to be seen in the company of a Ladyboy.

When approached on the street most will look the other way or politely say no thanks.

However the street Ladyboys aren't that easy to avoid and will grab your arm or block your way and that is when the trouble starts.

The farang gets annoyed tells the Ladyboy to F off and next thing you know verbal abuse flying both ways.

This, way too many times, ends up with a fight all because one is desperate for money and the other wants nothing to do with the gay scene.

The way I look at it is allowing Ladyboys to tout for customers on the street is asking for trouble and the Police should have the brains to ban them from doing so.

It's not a breach of civil rights t's common sense. A ladyboy want to sell his/her body or a Farang wants to buy there are plenty bars where they can meet/work

Going back a few years Soi Cowboy had the same problem, guys being accosted by these street workers and more than a few were mugged under the bridge opposite Soi 18.

Tong Lor police wised up and moved the lot of them. Lumpini need to get their act together ad move them away from Soi 4 (Nana)

I for one get fed up of them grabbing you, blocking your way etc.......only a matter of time before someone is badly injured or worse.

It is my human right to be able to walk along any street and not be accosted by anyone.

Live and let live only works in the movies mate...only fools show red rags to bulls

I was unaware Tonglor police had actively removed the LBs from Soi Cowboi, but I am very pleased to hear that. It means it is possible to get rid of them, and then it is also possible in Nana, Pattaya etc.

And just to be clear, the police is not allowing LBs to tout for customers on the street, they are allowing thieves and robbers to assault tourists. Having sex with tourists is a tiny side business for the LBs, the main "business" is theft and robbery.

As someone already mentioned there is no reason to mix these groups of people. The LBs and their customers can get their own area(s) somewhere far from the rest of us, where they can rob, assault and otherwise entertain eachother. Then put a big sign at the entrance of the new area saying "danger" or similar.

Fortunately Thailand is not as weak as the EU, bowing to human rights bullshit every time. With regards to the LBs in Pattaya, I think it is more important to protect the human rights of the victims - the many tourists who get attacked, even if it infringes on the human rigths of the LBs.

I am all for live and let live, but unfortunately the LBs are not, as they insist on their "right" to rob and assault people in order to support their lifestyle.

As someone already said, unfortunately 99% of the ladyboys ruin it for the rest of them, but as the police are unable/unwilling to find and exclude the 1% from the roundups, rounding up all of them is the next best solution.

  4. "you find that a nearly identical item is being produced by a different company under the retail giant's umbrella. You are told that your deal is intact, but that your goods will be sold at 200 upmarket branches, while theirs will be sold in 8,000 convenience stores."

If it's anything like the Pepsi rip off EST, then the near identical copy ceases to be so once you taste it.

Agree, even Thais don't like EST.

  5. The good news is noone really has to do anything for all these fishing related problems to stop. All the Thai authorities have to do is ... nothing. If nothing is done, the EU, and eventually the US will ban all Thai seafood products, and a large part of the Thai fishing industry will be out of work. By then the major players in the industry, those who make the decisions and who benefit the most financially, will have no choice but to solve these problems, and convince the EU and the US that they have done so.

  6. 3 days after the attempted murder (spike in the head) of this Irish tourist, the culprit is back on Walking Street looking for the next victim.

    http://pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/190685/pattaya-tourist-police-round-up-ladyboys-on-walking-street/#prettyPhoto

That is indeed good news. Perhaps someone in charge has finally realised what a menace these LBs are to Pattaya - and everywhere else.

Unfortunately they will probably continue warning them instead of putting them in prison where they belong.

  7. I think some are implying that there is a higher percent of lady boy criminals in Pattaya than normal criminals and I would dispute that and I'm sure so would the Pattaya police. I think the high heels prevent them from doing most burglaries and snatch and grab motorbike stuff to say nothing about getting into fights about football games.

If you wish to compare with criminals in general, then you have to divide the amount criminals in pattaya with the entire population of pattaya, and then match that percentage with the the amount of criminal LBs divided by the total number of LBs in Pattaya. If you do that then I am willing to bet anything that police records will show a far higher percentage among LBs.

If we discuss people working in the nightlife industry then there are probably at least 10 times more female workers than LBs in Pattaya, yet if you check the news, theft and robbery committed by ladyboys are much more common that theft and robbery committed by girls, which suggests that ladyboys are at least 10 times (probably much more) more likely to be thieves and robbers than their female counterparts.

It makes sense though, as men in general are much more likely to be criminals than women, and men on drugs (hormones) even more so.

  8. Not sure about homophobia regarding overly aggressive transgender sex workers.

I'm totally gay and feel threatened by their monstrous behavior as well.

I don't want sex with them and I don't want to be attacked by them either.

They want money from me for that ... should be the other way around, and no, still not interested.

The ones that do like them are normally NOT gay men.

They're usually straight men walking on the wild side.

No it doesn't help to tell them you're gay ... a lot of them get angry to hear that because they KNOW gay men aren't into them. Gay men usually like persons that present as MALES. They don't.

PC people, don't get me wrong.

I'm all for civil rights for people of all genders and sexualities.

But overly aggressive sex workers, and face it, the most agressive ones are usually transgender types, are public hazards in my book.

To be fair a fair portion of all kinds of sex workers are sometimes thieves, or worse ... behind closed doors.

Wow...what a bunch of hogwash, with a side order of transgender queer bashing...kinda negates those other 50,000 posts. Maybe you should stick to food, which is something you obviously enjoy and know something about, and not comment on transsexuals and the people who love them.
Haha, even your own "kind" don't like them. As he said they are a public hazard, and should be banned/removed in the interest of public safety.

Eventually one day they will attack a VIP and then hopefully the army will get rid of them once and for all.

Some good company your keeping with here JT...your a "kind" now. How does it feel to be accepted and be one with the haters? This guy sounds like he wants to round them up and make them wear pink stars...sound familiar...be careful...they'll come for you next.
    Stop baiting me.

Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I'm sorry if my post was offensive to you. It certainly wasn't my intent...but a sincere inquiry. To be perfectly frank, on this topic, I find little difference between your posted opinions, couched in slightly more polite language, and the out and out trans-bashers and haters speech posted throughout this thread. With the latest being some kook wishing them cheap funerals, whatever that's supposed to mean (some of these people are truly sickos...they remind me of the early days of the AIDS crises when many were happy for god's "just" punishment of the queers.)

Maybe it's time to close the thread as any topic concerning ladyboys seems to bring out all the homophobes...seemingly because they know they can't openly bash gays on the forum without drawing a red-card or worse, so they double down on the trans bashing as an acceptable substitute.

Are you low on IQ or something? People get robbed left and right by LBs, evidenced by both the news and many posters personal experiences - and when they get upset about it you consider it homophobia!

Btw, the cheap funeral may have referred to the fact that if you get no kids and grandkids, then there wont be many ppl attending your funeral, hence a cheap funeral. But sure, could have been AIDS too, although I fail to see how that makes a funeral cheap?

Last but not least, if the average gay guy thinks like you, then yes, I am a homophobe :-)

  9. if there are no customers there are no ladyboys...

That is a silly statement. If you actually follow the Thai news,

most or all of them are simply pickpockets wearing a wig and high

heels . Their patented move to come in close to you and grab your

balls has nothing to do with sex, and everything to do with being

inside your guard so they can steal your wallet / phone. They are

truly the curse of Pattaya , and I look forward to the day when

they are banned from the street due to the mind boggling amount

of crime they commit. The police know exactly what is going on,

since every time they want to reduce crime, the first thing they do

is round up ladyboys on beach road....cheesy.gif

It seems that you don't follow the Thai news. It sounds more like your own personal lifetime experience to me. G'Day.

Seems to me Eyeswideopen has it spot on, as what he writes is more or less what is reported almost daily in various thai news, ans what many posters seem to experience.

  10. while I agree with many of these posts I had quite a lot to do with ladyboys from bars in Bangkok at one stage and they were always polite and never a problem, this isnt really a ladyboy problem as such, its the ones on the streets that are often delusional from methamphetamine use that are the problem and should be removed, or at the least banned from wearing high heals, but most ladyboys dont cause problems

Obviously they are nit going to steal from you while you are in their bar, as you will likely notice your phone is gone at some point and know who did it.

I understand you frequented them in bars in Bangkok, so I am guessing Nana Plaza.

If so I am sure you have noticed around closing time that 10-20 ladyboys crowd the bottleneck entrance to the plaza, while most of the girls wait for customers across the street near Nana hotel parking lot.

The reason the ladyboys stand where it is most crowded is, as many have already experienced, that they can get rrally close to their now drunk victims and pickpocket them.

It could be that these ladyboys magically show up there late at night from outside of Nana, but odds are they are the same ladyboys who work in the bars at the plaza.

  11. The problem with the tourist police is that the tourists actually think the tourist police is on their side in disputes with Thais, which makes it very easy for Thais and the tourist police to join hands in various scams.

    Simple example, which happens daily.

    Jetski damage demand - 100k

Tourist police arrive and "negotiate" it down to 60k.

Tourists think they "saved" 40k, and thank the tourist police for their help.

After the tourists leave, the tourist police get their cut of the 60k.

To answer the OPs question, tourist police should have no powers whatsoever, and they should be called something else to avoid confusion.

  12. 422,000 Muslims in Texas (2010 Estimate) 421,998 went on about their lives just like the rest of us, making a living and tending their lawns, and raising a family.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure a few dozen Christians (and maybe a few Muslims- who knows) robbed liquor stores and burglarized homes somewhere in Texas on the very same day.

You have no evidence or statistics to back that claim up. You can just as easily say that 421,998 Muslims in Texas were in total support of the 2 terrorists today and were hoping they would kill every infidel in sight. Your way just perpetuates the "moderate Muslim" myth however.
Thanks for enlightening me, I never thought people were actually thinking the way you are.

More than you know, and with good reason apparently:

  13. The government "could have, should have, would have" doesn't make PTT's possession illegal. Any more than Gen. Prayut's hopes for a better economy will make it so. There are few choices for the government now:

    1) PAY for the pipelines

    2) BUY majority ownership in PTT

    3) NATIONALIZE PTT

    4) SUE for the pipelines

    5) INVOKE Article 44 and take the pipelines

#1 and 2 would be consistent with international business practice and cause the least conflict.

#3-#5 would effectively chill international commerce in Thailand.

Would probably also lead to all the private shareholders joining hands in suing the government.

However, I believe the finance ministry already has majority ownership of PTT, but that does not mean they can just give away company assets.

  14. Should women learn to decline unwanted sexual advances with a laugh and a wink?

Suddenly these jokes aren't so funny.

Why are some folks here so defensive of ladyboys?

Doesn't matter if this happened on Walking Street or on the BTS at rush hour.

Some posters here have previously confirmed that they are into ladyboys, which explain why they always defend them no matter what crimes they commit.

Obviously if the police/army were to actually remove/ban ladyboys from tourist areas these guys who like ladyboys would have a problem.

So you think mainstream gay men minding their own business and aggressive transgender sex workers bothering people on the streets are the same kind, do you?

I suppose that's your right to think that, but I don't see it that way.

No I don't, guess I was too quick on the trigger. Sorry for that.

  17. You go girl...that outta teach the homophobe!

When you defend yourself against a thief/robber I do not think it is called homophobe, but in any case IT is not a girl, and thats a fact, no matter how much you want to believe otherwise.

If one day you get assaulted by 3 black guys and you try to defend yourself, can we then call you a racist? :-)

  18. just google 'ladyboy attack tourist'

no need to add 'Pattaya' or even 'Thailand' they'll pop up anyhow

lots of knife attacks and even killings by ladyboys pop up too

if i was a tourist coming to this country and read this shit I would wonder why police is still tolerating

them everywhere around Pattaya's Walking Street and Beach Road and in numbers too...

Complete bullshit, have you even ever been to Thailand?

I have, lived here most of my life, and I agree, the police should remove these thieves (ladyboys) from all tourist areas.

  19. Ladyboys are dangerous .The Irish man with a hole in his head will never try to push a LB again in his lifetime.

At least he didn't get his pictures plastered all over the news so Mr. Marry can go safely back to Ireland.

Katoy's are no more dangerous than any other Thai who feels slighted. He shoved him hard enough to cause a fall, therefore he started it.

Keep that in mind the next time a random guy tries to steal your wallet! While he does it, perhaps you can smile and wai!, and when your wallet is gone you can always tell your friends it was not a thief it was a ladyboy.

  21. Most of you misunderstand the intent of the ladyboys.

If a random male came and hugged you in order to steal your phone or wallet, what would you do?

These "hugs" are assaults and the police/army need to remove these criminals from tourist areas completely.

Yes I know, some of you once met a ladyboy who did not steal but had an honest job, so what, 99% of them are thieves and belong in prison!
