  1. Have not been there in quite a few years so can not say much about nightlife but used to live there and the things I enjoyed:

    Yuyuan Garden a must see.

A walk down the Bund - walk/look inside buildings if possible - really nice architecture.

Nice museum in peoples park if you like that sort of thing.

A trip up the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is a great view.

A walk down Nanjing Road during the evening for the lights.

I really enjoyed Shanghai - you should have a good time.

This site has some good info for places to go and things to see:

    thxs for the replies Guys,

Have to say im looking forward to this trip & will post my thoughts on the place when i get back :-)

  2. First off sorry if this is the wrong place but there didnt seem elsewhere to post it.

Im planning a visit to Shanghai late November for about 4 nights.

Just wanted to know the must dos when im there, best nightlife area for Bars/clubs & a good hotel not far from the nightlife spots.

Also during the day would like to get out of the city into the countryside & explore any areas to recomend?

    Many Thanks :-)

  3. We were there mid-afternoon Sunday 25 Jan and it was open.

Thanks, guys, my two friends from the U.S. are flying up to Udorn, got a car arranged to run them out to Ban Chieng, then back to Udorn and on up to the bridge at Nong Khai where they'll head over to Laos for 2-3 weeks.

    Mac

Seems your friends are in for a real treat :o

  4. Spent 7 days in Mahasarakham few wks ago & have to say i like the area. The people seemed very nice. Was staying about 5 min drive from the Big C in a small town that had the big night market on the high st?

So if anyone saw a Big Farrang walking around a Lake at 7am with a little dog that was me :D

This could be Kamrieng, on the main strip. Was it near the University? Or was five minutes from Big C an underestimate and you were in the town of Kantarawichai, about 10 km towards Kalasin? In any event I have found both places to be very friendly, though 'Kantara' is very quiet. Kamrieng has the Chi river, the odd fish pond and a small night market on waste ground; Kantarawichai has a lake (near a craft shop), a permanent market (with roof etc) and two temples with important Buddha images.

Kantarawichai was the place :o but that river rings a bell too.Does it run past the white temple(not far from where i stayed) then right behind the Big C?

  6. He is making an absolute mockery of the Thai justice system. :D

    I agree...

However, the Thai justice system allowed him to make a mockery of itself, by allowing an obvious "flight risk" (Thaksin) and an out-on-bail convict (his wife, who was also an obvious "flight risk") to leave the country.

    What were they thinking?

I mean, who couldn't have seen that coming? :o

    Agree 100%

Shame on them. They had the man for petes sake wot were they thinking??

    I voted no.

They may learn from this & not make the same mistake again unless it was another billian dollar case :D

  7. Just wanted to say thanks to all who gave posetive comments about Dusit Zoo.

We thoroughly enjoyed it on saturday, had a great day & certainly will be going back again one day, thanks all. :o

    Hi MSingh,

What was the Disney on Ice show like?

    Is it still running?

Thinking of taking the family there next month?

    :D

  8. Hiya plan on taking the wife,Daughter & niece for a few days in Bangkok next month when i arrive back in Thailand.

Looking at a few hotels that would suit us ie-quiet area but not to far from public transport, swimming pool for the kids & nice big rooms & local malls in the area. Also plan to visit Dream World so not too far from the main street that leads up to the old airport.

Came across this place & it seems to click all the correct boxes :o

    So has anyone stayed there?

Look forward to hearing from all your comments regarding this place.

    Many Thanks,

Hotel address is Varindavan Park Service Apartment Bangkok

  9. Thxs for all the replies.

I am out in the boonies but only 5k away from the route 304.

& i do need a pickup but it doesnt have to be 4x4 thats why i liked the Ranger Double Cab Hi-rider 2WD 2.5 XLT 5AT Auto.

In an idle world the Nissan Navarro would be my choice if it was available on 0% finance.

But looking at there website im sure they arnt doing any of those deals.

& im after a Brand new car this time.

If you get a deal on the NISSAN I would be interested.

Now on my 2nd Primera Estate 1st one had it for 9 years this one for 6. That would be the preferd choice when i get back to LOS Same as you 2WD auto if poss

Cant praise the primera high enough.Just a great car.

Had it serviced 2 times a year in Kabin Buri.

I need a pick up now for many reasons.

Im starting to think now about the long term & the Nissan Navara probably ganna be the car i go for.

Didnt really want to spend that kind of money but it is a great motor with great reviews.

Now just to find a dealership that might do 0% finance :o

  11. For the last 3 years ive had a Nissan Primera estate & never had any problems.

I bought the car 2nd hand from a dealer ship in Korat City.

I drove that car almost all over Thailand.

Sadly its dead now :D Its heart just stopped working) :o

So now im in the market for a new car.

Having read many a post in this forum im 99% sure the next car is going to be a Ranger Double Cab Hi-rider 2WD 2.5 XLT 5AT Auto on 0% finance.

So Guys/Girls am i making the wrong choice?

Are there better deals out there for a Brand new motor similar to the Ford Ranger with 0% finance?

Price wise i think 790,000 isnt that bad.Am i wrong?

    Many Thanks,

  12. I voted for Arsenal as i do believe they have grown & learnt alot as a team over the last 2 years.

Stamina wise that side could play 90 games no probs :D

I think Chelsea are ganna start winning games & could push Arsenal all the way.

As for Man Utd im ganna predict a 3rd spot finish.

But i can see Man Utd having a great Champions League even getting to the final & winning it again.

Liverpool will sack rafa by the end of December & finish if there lucky 4th.

    IMHO :o

  13. Brief match report from Saturdays game by Arsenalworld.com......

Spurs made to look like monkeys in their own back yard - No surprise there then. The lads went to White Hart Lane, laboured a little to be fair, went a goal down, but kept their composure to run out easy winners in the end. Bale's opening strike was cancelled out by Adebayor's header, and then in the eightieth minute Cesc let fly with an unstoppable shot to leave Robinson on his arse. Ade rubbed salt into the wounds in injury time with a classy strike as the Spurs fans were heading for the exits - Will Jol be following them I wonder? - next up, Sevilla at home on Wednesday.
