  1. ProAuto (a sponsor of ThaiVisa) gets very favourable reviews, I have yet to see anything negative mentioned about them. Very good English and will discuss everything with their customer before doing any repairs/service. I did a comprehensive service of our Nissan Navara with them last month and was very happy with the experience.

See this topic for more information about ProAuto.

Thanks for the info and link ?
  2. Sounds a bit strange - if the mileage is under 100,000km it would still be under warranty. How about trying another Mitsubishi dealership/service center? Explain what happened and they'll fit it.

I would never take a modern car to a non-certified dealership even after the warranty period has expired. The dealership knows exactly how to service their cars, but a third party one?

No problems with the truck, doing a long road trip soon and want to make sure all preventative maintenance is done beforehand. I agree with you about dealer service, it has always been serviced at a Mitsubishi dealership. I think they may have forgotten to replace the air filter that we were charged for, also battery electrolyte is very low. Oil is really dirty and same with brake fluid. I'm not sure of the competence of the last shop. I know this next major service will be expensive so just looking for advise on trusted shops and good experience.

  3. Hello all, I have a 2011 Mitsubishi Triton with 95,000 km. It was " supposedly " serviced by Mitsu dealer Thapae gate at 90,000 km. I was just checking fluid levels, air filter etc. and see that the oil is black, air filter is extremely dirty, and brake fluid is dark. My wife took it in for service last time and I'm not sure if they did all service that we paid for.

The next service I want to do many things. Synthetic oil and new filter, trains oil and replace filter, brake system flush, engine air filter, rear diff oil change, power steering oil change, fuel system cleaner, passenger compartment air filter and replace timing belt.

Anyone have good experiences in Chiang Mai? It doesn't have to be a Mitsubishi shop, just looking for a trustworthy shop that will do all services as requested. I will ask to see the old trans filter, passenger compartment air filter and watch to make sure steering oil is changed, brake system is flushed, rear diff oil is drained and replaced. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  4. Had an accident this morning in Pattaya involving my rental motorbike wearing a helmet and a local Thai man without. He crashed into me at 70 kph while I was going about 20. Got t-boned... I suffered 1 broken rib and a few scratches. He bloodied his face and ruined his Scoopy. He's alright aside from a scratched up face. I'm a firm believer in always wearing helmets. Without my helmet the results would have been very bad. You never know when an accident will happen. Please wear your helmet, it can save your life.

  5. The procedure varies depending upon the place where the event occurs -- at home, in hospital; nationality of the deceased; witnesses present; circumstances of the death -- i.e. long illness with anticipated death vs. sudden death, etc. In general, when a foreigner dies at home, the police are called and the body is taken to the morgue. Often an autopsy is ordered if the death wasn't anticipated. In all cases, the Embassy/Consulate of the foreigner is notified. The grapevine works very quickly here. It's difficult to hide the death of a foreigner and quite commonly the deceased's Thai bank accounts are frozen until the next-of-kin presents appropriate documentation (like a court order or Will) to the bank. Not always (some widows have be able to continue to use ATM cards, but not always) Bodies are almost always cremated here.

  7. I have been having connection problems regularly with my 3BB here in Chiang Mai. It works intermittently or not at all most of the time. First I tried the call center and they said a tech was trying to repair from their location. No luck there, so I took my router to their office to exchange it. They gave me a different one, I brought it home connected it and still the same issues. I am totally fed up and ready to cancel my service. Does anyone know of a reliable ISP in Chiang Mai? I was thinking of trying True.

the problem is not the ISP it's the quality of the line, give us the value and we'll point you to the right direction.

    >> Here are the statistics from the router. Any ideas?

    thanks for any replies

  8. I have been having connection problems constantly with 3BB.I have the 3MB plan which is really only 1.5MB at best. Went

to their stand at Kad Suan Kaew and tried to purchase a different package and was told that i had the best available. They

gave me a different router which has done nothing to help the connection problems. I am thinking of canceling my service

and trying another provider. Any suggestions?

  10. In Perth's information e-mail, they state:

    APPLICATIONS FOR NON-IMMIGRANT 'O' VISAE

-All applications for Non-Immigrant Visae must be accompanied by documentary evidence.

-In cases where the applicant wishes to visit his wife the application must be supported by a copy of the marriage certificate as well as a copy of the wife's passport or identity card.

-In cases of visits to partners the application must be accompanied by a copy of the partner's passport or identity card.

-If the visit is not connected with wives/partners the reasons for the visit must be in writing. Consideration will be given by this office to issuing a double or triple Tourist Visa instead of a Non-Immigrant visa.

I just returned from Perth with a 1 year non-imm type "o" visa. Only had to give signed copy of my partners passport, nothing else was required. Dropped it off on Thursday, and picked up the following Tuesday. I asked about renewing in Thailand and was told that only if I were married would Thailand issue a 1 year visa for me.

The flights were inexpensive though the prices of food and hotel in Perth were expensive. No more border runs for the next year :)

  11. Just a short note re a visa run to Perth, Australia. I hold a British passport, rather than go to the UK ( Hull )to get a new one year Non O visa I decided to fly to Perth on Sun 7th Sept, I stayed in a resonable hotel on Hay Street, ( Criterion Hotel $95 Aus) 5 mins walk from the Thai consulate.

Consulate only open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9.00am - 12 Noon. I went to the consulate on Tuesday morning ( 9.00am ) with a signed copy of my girlfriends ID card and a letter of guarentee ( mine was from a Police Colonel, but even a letter from your neighbour, girlfriend, to the best of my knowledge would do ) + the filled out forms for the visa you can get these and pre fill them out from by e-mail [email protected]

The cost of the visa was $225 AUS and it was ready by 1.00pm the same day, without any issues. The staff at the consulate polite and easy to deal with.

Returned on the 14th Sept ready to stay another year in LOS !

I'm a US citizen, 34 in Thailand on a 30 day tourist visa.

Just wondering if anyone knows of getting a non immigrant O visa from Perth for someone from the US.

My purpose would be visiting friends, my fiance and I live in Chiang Mai.

I have read in other posts that I need a signed copy of my fiance's ID card and a letter of guarantee.

Also we have a bank account if that would help to prove that I have financial means to support myself here in LOS.

My neighbor is willing to sign a letter of guarantee, are there any other references I might need?

Thanks in advance for any advice :o
