Hi all

I have booked the Baan Bayan hotel for 2 weeks in February would appreciate any info re this hotel from anyone who has stayed there recently, I have looked at various websites but first hand knowledge would be better

Go for KC Grande. Much better beach, pretty quiet location just north of the busiest, most built up area, but much closer to walk to a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops than Sea View is. From Sea View it is a bit of a walk to get to the roadside area of Kai Bae where most restaurants etc are located and not as many good places to eat & drink on the beach nearby.

If you wanted to stay in the centre of Kai Bae, closer to the bars & restaurants then try The Chill or Gajapuri - two 4 star resorts on the beach in the centre of the village. The beach is still not as good as at KC Grande though.

Hi I am hoping someone from TV can help me with info my wife and I will be visiting Koh Chang but cant decide between KC Grande and Seaview resort. Is seaview resort close to resteraunts/Bars etc. We are couple in mid 6os if that would make a difference to where we stay.

Before I arrived on Samui last week some of you were kind to reply to my earlier post as to where to buy weather vanes by saying lots available in garden stores however after a drive round today I was unable find a garden store guess not sure what one looks like here can anyone advise of locations I would be driving from Chaweng area. Appreciate your assistance

Happy new year.

I got adopted by a dog yesterday.

He was really frightened by the fireworks so I took him home (I live across the street from my bar).

He still here, sleeping at my feet.

Looks like a mix between a Chacal and a German Shepard.

nice doggie...

gives a whole new meaning to having a "hair of the dog" next morning. good work poorsucker seems you have taken the whole dog

Have a look around a few garden shops aound Samui and you will find one no trouble. They are everywhere

They sell them by the thousands in Den Chai on Highway 11 northern Thailand a major wood furniture manufacturing area and in Baan tawai just outside of Chiang Mai also in northern Thailand. Come on up you would enjoy.

Many thanks "Gotlost" however unfortunately I dont see me being able to reach up there on next vist I can only hope that someone in Samui gives the same positive info for similar manufacturers

When we were in Samui last year we saw a weather vane on top of one of the waterfront restaraunt opposite steps to big buddah, it was a small wooden man that turned as the propeller at front turned which made it look like the little man was turning it. All info and help related to this type weather van appreciated as would like to have one made and/or bought when visit in February 2010 sorry I have no photo available.

in street bars & outside venues.

Fortunately, commonsense has prevailed.

Thank you all for your reassuring responses I can now rest assured that I can smoke (ignoring how bad it is for my health) in nearly all the establishments I shall be visiting. Regards Teuchter

Yes and no most of Samui bars are open fronted so smoke is not an issue (my opinion)

Bangkok and other closed bars then smoking is banned.

Does thi smean you will cancel your holiday if smoking is allowed?

many thanks for your quick response. As a smoker I will not be cancelling even if smoking was banned I just wanted reassurance I could still smoke in bars etc.

I AM VISITING SAMUI IN FEBRUARY CAN ANYONE PLEASE ADVISE IF SMOKING IS STILL ALLOWED IN BARS/RESTERAUNTS ON SAMUI AND/OR THAILAND IN GENERAL

I have been trying to book a flight on Bangkok Airways website on their "Thanks Fares" but their website keeps crashing and/or freezing once I have booked and entered my credit card info therefore I am never able to make a confirmed booking. Is it all a big scam?. Has anyone been able to make a confirmed booking on these cheaper fares.
