http://www.tech-faq.com/long-range-acoustic-device.shtml
I don't think the Thai police should be let loose with one of these...
I wouldnt worry too much as they will either forget to put the battery in or the existing battery will run out and require a THB 10 million budget to replace it....same same as the Tsumanmi warning device...
Anyways dont believe they have this device, it will be a Thai version....a pick up truck mounted with speakers blaring out Thai karaoke at 06:00am... .....
Can we expect there will be dancing on the streets then ??

Just another April 1 joke that is either early for next year or late for this one.
No complaints about the service from New Zealand , decent planes, excellent service, friendly cabin staff, so in my opinion they deserve to be ranked number 3

What is the best beach in Pattaya?
There is one by the Asia Hotel, and there is Cosy Beach - does anyone no anything better in the area (can go out a bit, e.g. Rayong area etc)/
Beaches in Pattaya are polluted and not recommended for swimming. Try Rayong.

I was unfortunate enough to be flying JetStar between Singapore to BKK recently.
My flight departing from SG was delayed by close to 4 hours. At the check-in counter or the in-flight announcements, no apology was offererd for such a unusually long delay. Well, guess what? My return fllight from BKK to Singapore 5 days later was delayed by close to 4 hours, arriving in Singapore just before 4 am in the morning. I only slept an hour before having to get up to go to work.
That will be the last time I'll travel by Jetstar. Has anybody experienced similiar kinds of delays with Jetstar?
That seems to be the norm with Jetstar. Same slack service in Vietnam when I used them, same delays here in NZ.
Ok! I suppose if you are not in a hurry to get anywhere, Definately give them a miss if you have a connecting flight.
Maybe it's better to pay that little bit extra for a better service with another airline.

Most water supply is held in tanks on the roof . My guess is that one of these has big problems eg broken pump or a broken storage tank .

I normaly fly thai ,Melbourne bkk but having a look at the fares on Jet star there half the price of thai , they are non stop and ok no meals and a bit less in the way of comfort ( tv ,screens on the back of seats ) but for a 9 hour flight i dont care . has anyone else flown with jetstar ?
cheers.
Personally I used them when in Vietnam.
Well if you can put up with delays etc then go for it ..
VERY bad reviews from the NZ folk ...but then again wherever they fly from ... or to,they seem to always get very bad reviews
But.. in the end it's entirely up to you, remember you get what you pay for

Will be travelling to Bangkok next month.
Am I able to get a bus from the airport direct to Pattaya? If so, what are the departure times.
Can anybody offer this information.
www.belltravelservices.com
Recommend you book a seat as sometimes bus could be full . All information is on the web site above that I have posted for you
Sadly my plane arrives too late to take advantage of this excellent service

I live in Pratmanak hill in Pattaya, we have had no city water for almost 36 hours, anybody else having similar problems in same area?
Does anyone no what the cause is, Mabprachan resevoir has plenty of water?
Probably another broken pipe . Very common.
A couple of years back was without water for 3 days, no water for a shower, nothing to flush the toilet,( washed with bottled water) And I was suffering from the worst case of food poisoning at that time, had to move to another area so as I could take a s..t and shower .
Good luck hope you get some water SOON!

No Problem !
Go to your nearest Thai consulates office and apply for a 60 day tourist visa .
Free as from 25th July thru to March 2010.
Just received mine, (NZ ) couriered back to me no charge for that either

In my opinion the LEK HOTEL on Second RD would be one of the best for a first timer as it is very central. Not expensive, also has a = all you can eat buffet b/fast for 110 bht.
Has all you need, get a room in the new wing, old wing is a bit tired.
Baht bus at door step, 4mins to beach

Not sure if the above is THE Alan Taylor but he is correct. See here. During this period of 25 June 2009 to 04 March 2010 there will be an administration charge of £15 for the issue of the Tourist Visa with Single Entry.
Thanks for letting us know.
you are being ripped off
Just been in touch with the Royal Thai Consulates office here in >>NEW ZEALAND << checked re administration charges there are no charges!!!. They were "very" surprised that you were being asked to pay an administration fee, so someone is making a tidy profit

When I saw the title of this thread originally, I thought that I might go down to Pattaya for a few weeks if I could get a break on a hotel room, but every place seems to be charging more than they did a year or two ago. I don't see any significant discounting going on down there and everything sounds dead on top of that, so why bother? .
You are so right
30 - 100% more than last December & that was Season !#@!#@ <deleted> ???
Try looking here plenty of discounts = www.agoda.com

just another story to start a stampede

in 15 years I have twice had Oysters, on each occasion it was my then TGF who ordered them for me and twice I was laid up with Gastroenteritis for a few days, last my then TGF ordered oysters I refused to eat the so she ate them and was laid up the next day with Gastroenteritis.
I now avoid them and take care to watch what TGF orders.
First time we ate oysters in Pattaya all was ok, so went the next night for seconds .Biggest mistake we ever made! Both ended up with severe gatroenteritis!!
You may get lucky! and avoid it, but in my opinion raw shell fish, in Thailand should be avoided at all costs.

An extension is 1900 baht.
If it is only one day you will not have a problem. Immigration gives a 24 hour grace period for overstay at the airport.
More than one day it is 500 baht per dau.
You don't need to get the extension.
Thankyou for the quick reply much appreciated
-
I will need to get a 7day extension when in Thailand as I miss meeting the 30day waver by 1 day
Total 31days in Thailand.
Could someone please tell me the cost of this 7day extension ??visa

I often buy new perfumes, but "always" have my old favourite on hand which is Este'e Lauders = Youth Dew
-
Just a quick question,ladies.
My wife has 14 unopened bottles of perfume that I have bought over the years.
Will the scent last indefinitely as long as the bottles are unopened or should she
start giving the stuff away to her friends?
I store my perfumes away from direct light . So far I have not encountered any problems with them going stale etc.
-
It definately saves carrying a large amount of toiletries
I do make use them eg, soap I prefer my own for bathing, theirs = for washing out smalls
shampoo & coditioner etc, if provided I use them also
.
And yes if i like the product the occasional one slips into my suitcase
-
Why not try the "Lek" corner Soi 13 & 2nd Road stay in new building, 1200bht, it has a decent swimming pool & guest friendly.
-
Thanks for all the replies,
I'll turn up with notes of the hotels mentioned and look around. Lookis like I'll find something easilly enough.
The pool's not a must but it would kill a bit more time during the day,
Jamie
I'd give the Sawadee hotels a miss "they are cheap" but.......nasty.
Try this WWW.18coinshotel.com 500bht standard room
Doesn't have a swimming pool but you can use the pool in the hotel opposite
Here are a few more in your price range
www.baybreeze pattaya.com
www.globetrotter-thai.com
Or go to www.agoda.com they have a few reasonable priced hotels on offer.
Hope this helps

Items Vanishing From Hotel Fridge
in Pattaya
Posted
Same here I tell them to remove all items from the mini bar upon arrival. If they don't like it I tell them that I am the one paying to rent the room, therefore the fridge is for the use of my items not theirs. Any further protests then I would let my feet do the talking.
