  1. Two years ago one could book an appointment online up to 145 days in advance.  Last year I missed that,  and nothing was available 60, 45, or 30 days in advance. So I went in early, just like the old days but no middle of the night nonsense, and the process wasn't too bad.

I was just hoping to avoid that mess again but it looks as though they are either forcing it or it is just a site FUBAR.

  2. Just a heads up:

I went online to schedule my Non-O visa extension/spouse 145 days in advance (45 before expiration  and 100 before that). The Chiang Mai Immigration online appointment site no longer has a visa extensions for family (spouse/marriage) selection, only retirement,  volunteer, education and business.

So, I went to immigration and asked why. I was told all online spouse extension appointments are not available and have been booked A YEAR IN ADVANCE. I was given no other explanation, and there is no way for an individual to book a year in advance.

    Amazing Thailand.

  3. In addition to Thais maxing out their debt, bank deposit protections (designed to protect depositors against the loss of their deposits with financial institutions up to a certain limit) have were cut from 100 million baht in 2008 to 50 million in 2012, to the current 5 million baht protection limit.

But next week, the deposit coverage limit is cut to 1 million baht PER DEPOSITOR, NOT PER ACCOUNT.

  4. That is such a shame.

Used to vacation at a great spot in Baja Mexico, but then the jet skis moved in, along with a few rental ATVs. I quit going there, as did most of us Gringos, except for the uber-cheap tourists and moved to better, quieter, more pristine beaches further South. Once the missing wallet collapsed the local tourist industry in that particular beach town, the jet skis were outlawed and it took years for the area to climb back.

didn't go the 400K route but rather the 40K Baht monthly income route as I normally don't keep my cash in TH. 40K income no problem to justify.

Each month I transfer above the 40K minimum in from the USA to my Bankgok Bank account. Curious as to what immigration required from you to verify? Printed monthly bank statements + bank book and/or a letter from Bangkok Bank as I'm doing my visa by marriage extension next month. Thanks in advance.

This hearing is nothing more than grandstanding by Dems...

Barr has already answered their questions twice...the Mueller report is the final conclusion...the entire unredacted report is available to members of Congress...not one Dem has bothered to even look at it!

The Dems grilling Barr are many attorneys themselves...it is insulting to them to say they are incapable of doing their job.

Barr has more important work to do...like going after the politicized Dems in the Justice dept and FBI who used there position to try to bring down an elected President...

Care to link to a bonafide source showing where all of Congress has access to the unredacted report? Nonsense — ONLY 12 members of Congress have seen a "less-redacted" (as in still redacted) Mueller report. Barr has been caught with his pants down, and by failing to appear before Congress, which has full oversight powers, is in contempt. Hopefully Nadler will tighten the screws on Trump's personal lawyer (what used to be call the Attorney General).
FYI: the Mueller report is NOT a conclusion, nor was it ever meant to be. Hence his wording, quote: “The evidence we obtained about the President’s actions and intent presents difficult issues that prevent us from conclusively determining that no criminal conduct occurred. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it ALSO DOES NOT EXONERATE HIM."
