Yes but obviously there were many people certifying to stuff they did not have. Otherwise there would be no problem. The Dutch embassy always checked things and so nothing changed there.

I don't understand why the other embassies can't just check that way they protect the good ones and the bad ones are out. It would require some changes for embassies but it could be done.

So instead of blaming the Thais blame your own embassy for not doing what needs to be done.

I know real impopulair post from me but if embassies would check the problem would go away. Why should it be easy for some just swearing while others really had to prove it.

Exactly as I would have had no issues about signing a waiver at the US consulate allowing them access to may SSA file.

Both sides share a bit of blame in this issue.

The "method" of proof of income change is the most damaging. Many were getting income into Thailand in a legal method but now not acceptable. Applied retroactively.

Either way these decisions need to be lived with even in the worse situations.

The Austrian Consulate in Pattaya which, next to their citizens, is also dealing with Belgians, Dutch, French, German citizens has changed the lay out of their L.o.I..

    They put now :

    " it is hereby certified".

They still do the same control as before checking if the amounts paid by the Office of Pensions appeared on a bank account in homeland.

It seems they are convinced that there are more honest people than not, and that the honest ones shouldn't be the dupe of the wrongdoers.

Besides one should be very "cool" to go to the Consulate in person with fake documents ( the risk to be caught) when for +/- 15000 Thb everything can be fixed by an agent.

Also not sure what Immigration can do, legally, to an Embassy/Consulate when eventually they should find out that the documents, "certified" by an Embassy/Consulate, appear to be falsified.

In Americas case it would be very simple to sign a waiver and allow them access to SSA funds in that context but they will not.

The original notification from the consulate stated that along with the Thai reason for suspending they clearly stated that way to many complaints and anger came from those that were getting affidavits.

Anyone stupid enough to falsely claim income on a affidavit deserve to get what will happen.

Thing that is bad that honest "good" people are bearing the brunt of these decisions from both sides.

Probably, going forward you may want to make sure each month’s transfer is 65K minimum.

If you have the 800K at a 25-1 rate that will likely be the easiest.

Circumstances when I first came here from the states does not give me the ability to do the 800K method.

Waiting for the States to list Thai banks that will be allowed direct ACH deposits.

Afraid this will be to little to late.

Fortunately I have a small immigration office to deal with and will go speak with them in the next few weeks.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  5. Lived here for 11 years under retirement extensions.

Have had mostly over and rarely under 65K a month SSA and enough in Thai bank to cover for exchange rates to 25 bht to US dollar.

I use a US bank for ACH deposits and a atm draw here.

Every cent that I receive is transfered to Thailand via this method.

According the this unoffical translation I will not qualify for a extension of stay?

Seems like this could be avoided by making it so once you're in that lane you can't merge back, using barriers.

Need center barricade to stop people from using center turn lane as personal passing lane.

Pretty darn unnerving when driving having someone, usually in a Vigo or Fortuner  jump into the oncoming traffic lane instead of passing in the slow lane that is clear of traffic.

Nearly every time I drive to town there is at least one person doing just that. MC drivers seem to be a target for them. Some appear to get a real kick out of playing chicken also. generally the oversized black Hilux, Fortuner or Dmax drivers. Have had 5 Thai's I know killed this way.

  7. Has anyone actually gone to their local Immigration office and ask the big boss what they will require.

    SSA income verification letter?

US SSA direct deposit bank account statements?

    1099 Tax statement from SSA?

Yearly benefit and cola notification from SSA?

ATM receipts showing withdraws in Thailand.? (each draw is a deposit into a Thai bank)

All of the above should prove income requirement but TiT.

I contacted Bank of Bangkok in NYC and they said my account direct deposit no problem next year.  I have a problem getting my SS docs in the mail here.  Last year was OK the year before everything lost.

Contact via email the Manila SSA office and they will email you verification. I just did and got one directly from them. It is not much very similar to yearly statement from SSA.

  9. Sadly there are many who are miserable in their choices to reside in Thailand and I have found some even willing to go out of their way to make others lives miserable.

Happy with my wife and watching caring for my chickens for the remainder of my days and some that I have been exposed to simply cannot stand someone being content with a choice to reside in Thailand.

  10. Compressor oil.

Possibly, but a leak bad enough to be visible at the condensation drain would have exhausted the refrigerant long ago, I'm assuming the unit is still cooling as our OP didn't say it's stopped.

Milky substance oil mixed with water close to condensate drain, pink color compressor oil, most likely a really slow leaking seal in compressor that has built up over time and now draining.
