  1. I have done this procedure last week, and as always in Thailand in my case not same same(but different)...

You will need to go to immirgation in Bangkok (or Pattaya) as most immirgation offices won't do it.

Yes, Immigration Bangkok and Pattaya does it.

You will have to comply with the rules for a 1 year extension, in essence have 800,000 baht in a bank account in Thailand for 2 months already OR have an income of 65,000 a month OR have a combination of yearly income and money in the bank of 800,000 baht. In the last cae the money doesn't need to be seasoned and in the case of income it can be from abroead, in which case you needd a letter from your embassy confirming your income.

Yes correct, thats what the law says. But i had a certificate of income > 65,000 from my embassy and the immigration still want a copy of the bankbook(+certificate from Bank) with ANY amount on it!

Important is also that you have enough time left on your current pemission to stay for the conversion. That used to be at least 21 days, but some reports indicate you can now have fewer days left.

Yes, in my case 7 Days left on the old permit.

Conversion is 2,000 baht and leads to a permission to stay of 90 days, at the end of that you ask for the 1 year extension for 1,900 baht.

If you don't mind to give 90 days away you can do it all on the same day. Fill out the TM.7 (90 Days) + TM.87 (non-immigrant visa) 2 Photos and copy of Passport.

Pay 3900 Baht and maybe don't forget the re-entry(TM.8) for the visa if you plan to leave Thailand for any reason.

This was working in my case, it may be different for any other persons on any other day in any other place(in Thailand)!

  2. That sounds a good plan if I buy there. i intend visiting Hotrod in pattaya plus the main HD dealers and a couple of other shops in BKK for a look around before buying anything. Prices are always a bit more negotiable when you are standing in the shop, so there may be other good deals around. I dont mind paying a bit extra to save hassle if there is something already with a greenbook, but I dont want to get ripped off too much.

    cheers

    Hi Soarsa,

i bought my bike at Hot Rod Pattaya 5 months ago. A HD Softail 2007 with 2000km. I got it with greenbook on my name and registration + numberplates (number i can choose), all in price included. And the conversation was mainly with internet and by phone. You can PM me also if you have any questions.

    Greetings, Tom

  3. roi et bike week 4th april ....phuket bike week 9th april.....hat yai bike week 7 th june....1 st national h.o.g rally khao yai national park 2nd december ....hua hin bike week 11 th december ...bang saen bike week on around november ....buy ride thailand magazine tom and it has most dates in it sometimes..but if you live in pattaya area keep in contact with some local clubs they will have the know of whats going on ....if you are going to use the bike in all weathers i wouldnt bother with the open primary //more for show than go...i wouldnt like rain getting in around it.......barry

thank you for the information i am going to get ride thailand. i am actually located more from Udon, Khon Kaen Area :o

  4. do you use a stick on type suction pad if you want to carry a passenger then tom ? those open belt drive primaries are fairly expensive , but they look good alright ...how old is the softail by the way ? tom you bike looks similar to a one they did a few years ago called blue tattoo ...they are trying to sell that golden yellow bike for some time now, some nice engraveing on it...how much is the price down to now ? they were looking 2 million for it over 3 years ago,,,

Hello Barry, yes i am going to use a removable pad than. Thats the problem, the open belt drive costs from 2500$ up and i dont know right now if there are problems with dirt and water appears. You are right, i have seen the blue tattoo also. This bike is more extrem customized with customframe as well, as i have kept the original one.

Do you know any activities in the bike scene in Thailand for this year?

    Greetings

    Tom

  5. hi tom you were saying the bike is not finished and you plan on changing more .......what else are you doing to the bike ???

hi barry, well the cables are changed against stainless steel ones, footpegs with builtin winkers for passenger(sometimes important - not the winker!), a Hypercharger from Küryakyn (+infinity streamliner), a digital Speedometer from motogadget and some small parts like screws and covers (chrome).

...and later maybe a open Belt Drive.

    Greetings

    Tom

  6. tom that bike is the business ..what size is back tyre 240-280..did hot rod do all the work ...?did you give them a doner bike first or did they do this for you from scratch ?

yes barrybike, hot rod did all the work. The back tyre is 250, fit up to 260. I bought a normal Softail at hot rod shop, then Khun Ed gave me a bunch of catalogs and after choosing which parts to order he started customizing(with parts in stock). He is doing everything great like the costumer is asking for, as i want the seat 'build in' and not attached on top for example.

    Greetings

    Tom

  7. really nice bike tom ,can you show more pictures of it ...i diddnt see this bike before...have you got it long....???? paint work looks top quality

i picked it up 2 weeks ago at Pattaya. But actually it is not finished right now. Some parts have to be changed but they are still on the way. So i hope can drive Pattaya next week to be finished the job. Sadly i have missed KhonKaen and Udon Bike Week but i think we should meet on any other ones (still looking for a calendar with dates).

    Greetings

  8. Hello to everyone,

i am new member here. Come from Germany but have my home now in Thailand since 1/2 year.

Actually my favorit bike, a Harley, is now build from Khun Ed at HotRod-Shop in Pattaya. I hope that he can finish the work in March. He has done some nice Bikes in the past. And i am changing now from Speed (Yamaha FZR 1000) to slow. :D

By the way, is anybody from Forum at Bikeweek in Khon Kaen on this weekend?

    Geetings, Tom

Nothing wrong with slow, easier to enjoy the world!Hope to see some pictures of the Harley when it's finished! :o

If Khun Ed is doing a good Job, what i guess, i will send you some pics. It was hard enough to study those catalogs with > 800 pages. :D

    Really nice Bike that! :D
