  1. Apologies if it's already been covered, as I also could not read through all the posts.

But what about long term expats 50+ who cannot meet the currently as stated CASH requirements (yearly or monthly) for the proposed 10 year visa?  However they can prove beyond any doubt that they have invested more than that permanently in Thailand though the purchase of a condo. One that is not for rental or investment but used as my home for years (cost of condo was not high enough to meet any investment requirements but more than the cash in the bank  needed for the 10 year visa). Ironically I would even meet ALL the requirements for the 10 year visa as currently proposed if I had not purchase the condo and had just left the cash in a Thai bank account. Now it seems as though my condo purchase years ago is meaningless and will count for NOTHING (not even a reduction in cash requirements) as evidence or proof (along with with my years of 1 year work visas, followed by years of 1 year retirement visas, a 5 year Thai drivers license etc.) of my long term retirement commitment or contribution to Thailand?!?

  2. jinjinswing i hope my information was useful for you.

FalangBaa chill out, it's just slang. All that flesh eating making you a bit tense? Perhaps it's the steroids.

    "History

The veggie burger, by name, may have been created in London in 1982 byGregory Sams, who called it the 'VegeBurger'. Gregory and his brother Craig had run a natural food restaurant in Paddington since the 1960s[1]; aCarrefour hypermarket in Southampton sold 2000 packets in three weeks after its launch.[2]"

  3. I buy vege hot dogs, fish, chicken, baloney, etc at my local Jusco all the time, always in stock. I've also bought the same at Fresh Marts throughout the city. Tesco has a frozen vege chicken and fish, Big C often has frozen vege pizzas (rennet listed on one as ingredient). Vege burritos, pot pies, patties, etc. often sold at Villa and Gourmet markets (Emporium and Paragon). Vege burgers are sold at ALL Burger Kings. Vege food in available in countless food courts, Amarin Plaza, Mall Bangkapi, Mall Ram, MBK, JJ Market, just to name a few. Keep looking, try this website it fairly extensive http://www.happycow.net/asia/thailand/bangkok/

  4. Pridi Banomyong are the sois that branch off of Pharkanong (Suk 71). Klong Pharkanong runs for the most part between Pharkanong (Suk 71) and Onnut (Suk 77). I'll be going past the Klong in about an hour and will post what's going on if anything new is happening. Depending on your orientation, this area is the eastern part of Bangkok.

Which part of Bangkok is Soi Pridi Banomyong (Sukhumvit Soi 71)? Is it in the east, west, north or south of Bangkok? Would appreciate if someone could tell me whether Soi Pridi Banomyong, Ekkamai and Thonglor will be flooded in the next few days....

  5. I certainly like the idea of being able to get a "marriage visa" if immigration rights are included (not a sure thing as this could be intended for Thai national gay couples only). However the thought of foreign spouse property rights being 'equally' applied as they currently exist under Thai law, now that's scary. Any regular reader of this forum has heard or knows of married foreigners who end up with nothing but a sad story after a divorce or even just a separation from their Thai wife. So in the case of gay marriage without revision of foreign husband rights issues, it's best to be careful what we ask for as we just might get it. Possibly leading to a rash of gay farangs falling off balconies in Pattaya. cool.gif

  6. thailand is supposed to be a buddish country, only on paper, look at the morals (sex capital of the world), corruption, the countless murders written of as suicides...

but hey farangs, who gives a s**t anyway... are you suffering with your 60.000+ pensions per month + tenthousands of baht of intrest from the bank as most TV members here seem to be millionaires and not only in baht apparently

Just because I'm a retired farang, and able to provide my family with a good standard-of-living, doesn't mean that I've forgotten my roots or that I shouldn't want others (including poor Thais) to also benefit from self-funded further-education or risk-taking and hard-work, as I did.

Some people think that, having climbed some way 'up the ladder', they should then kick it away from the wall, to spite those following-behind, but I do not agree. I want them to do well, pay tax & help fund my retirement through dividends or pensions, and not stay-home with their hands forever out for a 'gift'. So even if-only out of self-interest, it does make sense to "give a shit", about those poorer than yourself in our adopted home-country.

And corruption robs the country of its hard-earned investment-potential, Thailand isn't some rich oil-state, which can afford to have the rich skimming-off 20% of everything, and still pay the peasants enough to keep them quiet. The country can advance, if corruption is reduced, or can become another Cambodia ... and it is 'up to them' which way they choose to go, the results of polls like this aren't encouraging. :(

    I couldn't agree more. Cheers.

  7. Buy a condo, and you dont have any problem.

May i remind you all that the 2 million baht minimum investment and/or bank deposit wil be re-enforced this year.

Its a law that everybody seems to forget all the time.

Hi Ronny, as far as I know this type of visit was for an investment of 3 million for a condo and it expired in Oct. 2006. Confirmed this with Sunbelt website and the doing business in Thailand website (see attached quote from the latter pasted below). As of now the investment visa is 10 million! However if you have updated information on this issue please let me know as I and all the foreigners in my building are in the unfortunate position of having purchased 2 to 5 million baht condos AFTER Oct. 2006. and NONE of us qualified for an investment visa!

"What is the Non-Immigrant Visa Investment? 24 May 2010

The concept of the investment visa is not new in Thailand.

For example, after the crisis of 1997 an investment visa with a ceiling of not less than 3,000,000 THB of investment was created as an incentive to help Thai developers to sell their stock of condominiums units’ leftover of the crisis to foreign investors. This visa was discontinued in October 2006 once Thai economy picked up.

Note: Discontinued only means that new applications for this particular investment visa were not accepted after the 1st October 2006 but foreign investors who have invested not less than 3,000,000 THB, have entered Thailand and received a permission to stay before the 1st October 2006 and have since then renewed their visas each year without any interruption are still benefiting from this promotion. Now as a result of Thai political crisis and the world economic crisis Thailand has reintroduced the concept of the investment visa. The only difference with the former investment visa is that the minimum investment ceiling has been increased from 3,000,000 THB to 10,000,000 THB."

  8. Mai pen rai, I'll wait until June. Keep us informed, thanks.

Ok Grungteep thats my bad. i thought i had made it fairly clear that both bikes were Bangkok show (show) bikes and SOON to be in production. The dates that i'm getting from Khun Pariya are early May for the Retro and Early June for the TT150. As the motor show has just ended i imagine that Pariya is very busY, he answers my emails either late at night or very early morning. They have now finalised a start to a new dealer network but it will be a slow rollout.

    More news when its available.

    Allan

  9. Went to the shop on Phahon Yothin today. Met Khun Golf, who said that the TT150 was a model, show motorcycle only, not a production bike, and that he did not know when it would be sold to customers! He said he would check with his manager (Khun Pariya?). I left my number, and now I'm confused more than ever. They don't make it easy. Will contact Khun Pariya after the holidays.

Can someone please tell me how to contact Khun Pariya, and give the Tiger website, and the address and phone numbers for dealers in Bangkok. I cannot find any of this information and I'm very interested in the TT150. Thanks.

    Thanks a 1000 times

  11. How can I contact you for purchase of a TT150? What is the Tiger website address? Where are the dealers in Bangkok, addresses and phone numbers please!

Thanh here is the answer from Pariya. Also did you know that they are doing 1 years % free finance in conjunction with AEON thats how i'm getting mine, no interest spread over 12 months gotta be a winner.

    "Dear Allan

Thanks for the info. I will forward this on to my people. Obvisously, the Retro still need a lot of works as this one is putting together just for show. It finished at midnight on the 25th, the last day and at the latest time that the organizer allow us to bring in the bike.

I myself also knew a few flaws that he/she has mentioned. Once the original one is out I would be more than happy to invite you and Thanh to come to our factory and test ride it.

Give my regards to Thanh and thank you for the comment, we will do all we can to improve this.

    Best Regards,

    Pariya "
