Let me clarify.I use the money in account method for retirement extension, so I just took photocopies of the last years movement in the account, this was accepted.

I did not go to the bank for complete bank statement.

I am on a Non-O based on marriage, maybe the need to show a bank statement is for Non-O's based on retirement only? I will certainly take my bankbook with me just in case.

When you went back to see the same officer.  Did you get a que number or did you go straight to that officer?

What imagration office did you go to?

I go to Changwatana and will go on the 17th for my 2nd visit since my wife convinced landlord to give us the chanote and house book.

I would like to bypass the que and go straight to the officer that made this mess for me. Its hard for my wife to get week days off because she has to be with me for exstension based on marriage.

But maybe a new officer would be better. But a new officer may dream up a new set of requests.

This year has been a mess so far.

Chaeng Wattana, the IO we saw first time told us specifically to see her when we went back. She said don't get a queue number, she wrote a reminder to herself on the TM form of what documents I should have. I wanted to go back Monday, but she said Tues at the earliest as she wasn't working Monday.

I'd imagine it would be best to seek out the same officer as before, get in there at opening and 'catch his/her eye' so to speak. Probably a good idea to get a queue number as well, just in case your original IO is in a bad mood or absent.

  3. Same thing happened to me as the OP. 6th extension based on marriage, went in last week with all the usual paperwork, and was told the rental contract needed updating, even though it's been good for the past 5 years. Go back yesterday to see same IO who then says owner's housebook has to be the same address as where we rent. Told her he has no housebook available for where we are living, so she says she needs a copy of ownership/deed. Luckliy the owner is a lovely fella who lives close to us, my wife rings him there & then and he says no probs. The IO processes my application, I get the 4 week stamp on the proviso we drop off the deed later that day - which we did. Was also told to bring my bankbook updated + copy, as well as another copy of my 90 day report to immigration when i go back in 4 weeks time - which was a first.

The annual checklist just got a little longer.

  4. Is it still possible to get a single entry Non-O visa in Vientiane, based on marriage and kids, without having to show bank statements (400,000 k) ? Already tried it in Bangkok, and even though there is no mention on the immigration website about statements and i explained i wouldn't be applying for a year extension they said no-can-do.

  5. That is normally referred to as an Affidavit Of Freedom To Marry Certificate. Just a document issued by your embassy that confirms that you are legally single. Different embassies have varying requirements for issuance.

Understood, one last question. Can I apply for the visa alteration whilst on a 30 day extension tourist visa? From my understanding this is possible as long as I apply while there are 21 days left on the visa, which would mean a couple of trips down to immigration in the same week.

Allthough that refers to those with no children. So in theory you could alter your visa with just a couple of days left on it, if you do have children......right?

In case of, marriage registered in Thailand

Copy of I.D. card and house registration papers of the Thai national.

    Wedding ceremony picture.(if any)

Thanks for the above. Any idea what the '....copy of the letter from the embassy or consulate certify in that the applicant is single' means. Or does that only apply if the marriage was registered abroad? Either way I still don't understand the wording, if I'm married I can't be single. Obviously... :o

  8. Yes. Can only change to a single Non O Visa as part of the process for a 12 month extension for Marriage if you qualify. I asume you are thinking about a Marriage Extension.

You must have at least 21 days left on your stay to do this.

An extension based on being the non-thai father of a thai citizen - possible?

  9. You can obtain a Work Permit with a Non Imm B or a Non Imm O Visa.

So i just inform my new employers that they can start the WP application, and I'm good to go.......sounds too good to be true

    It is true.

What you may encounter is that your employer or the agency who is dealing with your work permit is not familiar with this case.

Would they (Labour Dept) require the same paperwork?

    As a 'B'.

    Sorry didn't finish.

  11. Hi. I recently obtained a multiple Imm 'O' visa (based on marriage), and was wondering how difficult, or possible, it is to apply for a work permit whilst on this visa. I have a job lined up, and they are willing to help out on the red tape side, but is it possible ? Or do i have to revert back to a 'B' and then get it all changed back over to an 'O' later on? I would like to apply for a one year marriage visa but without proof of employment i.e a work permit this won't be possible, and i don't have 400 grand sitting in the bank.

    Appreciate any thoughts...
