  1. Hello,

as per title, I need to go Koh Chang for about 15/30 days, anyone know some accomodation, something cheap - something more nice than wood bungalows in lonely beach anyway and that have internet?

Aircon not required but would be nice if can stay on budget... something not in white sand I suppose to keep on budget

  2. right,,, it was the beer,,,

not like sex with an 18 yo couldn't cause a heart attack, if he truly had heart issues,,,

Not sure where you got this from. Sex is not mentioned the article at all, neither is there any mentioning of a heart issue. Please share your source with us.

    A 47-years old farang

    On Holiday

    In Thailand

After a party night with some booze and a 18-years-old thai girl

When you meet a creepy guy in a dark alley on the night with a knife on his hand I'm sure you think "oh, a cook!"

  3. Sex is the only vital part of the equation, anything else is a bonus.

You need to work on your self-esteem, bro. You sound sad, desperate and a bit depressed.

I've also detected hints of envy in your comments.

Change your life. Work on your appearance.

You're on a miserable road to nowhere.

Technically he is right, at the very basic we are just animals, why deny it? You can save a relationship from almost everything - you can forgive cheating, bad behaviors and different views - but no relationship last long without sex (wonder why almost all countries deny of sex for a long period is a reasonable reason to request a divorce?).

We look after a successful relationship just because loneliness scare us, nothing more (why is simple, we need other people to reproduce and after we do it we need a lasting relationship to check and assure our progeny safety)

What if she's a good cook too ?

Still the same, why we like a wife that is a good cook? Food is a substitute and it's all just about endorphin hunting (that is what push us to do anything, from eat your morning coffee to love someone, to be an expat in Thailand).

  4. If we are speaking about regular Thai girls, then simply the usual things you would need with any other woman on the world: similar educational / interests and most important similar life overview

    If we are speaking about:

I've done it all wrong then, in a successful relationship (I think)

    1) She is a farm girl, left school age 13, I have postgraduate

    2) We share no interests, I'm into outdoor pursuits, she likes Thai soaps

    3) We do have a similar outlook on life, we're both not really bothered about anything

    4) 20 year age difference

then only she is an orphan with no sisters, brothers, childrens or any relative (extend "relative" to any remaining thai people on her life, including buffalos and pets), with no any thai ex-boyfriend, farang ex-boyfriend, worked on the industry for less than 3 weeks, have no tattoo, cannot speak "I love you" in more than 2 languages and don't have a facebook or any other social network account

Or if you have an almost endless income, this works too usually

  5. I had a similar issue some months before, luckily I remembered the taxi number, just called the company that gives me the driver phone and in 1 hour the taxi driver come back with my notebook (just leaved a 500 bath tip to thanks him)

If you don't have the taxi number however I think just forget it...

  6. needless to ask-there are of course no direct regular buses-but you can hire.

There ARE direct buses-3/4 day from Rayong (noone here says Muang) to KANCHANABuri-via BKK's west/Sai Thai-currently rerouted via i dont know. You should-due to flooding-have said for about when- alittle thinking goes a long way and avoids unneeded cyberspace. No further details untill you have done that

actually seems there is, so no bytes or cyberspace was wasted

Why so serious and so much hate sometime on this forum? :(

  7. Thanks - the yellow bus seems the one I looking for

@terryq: I'm currently in the Star Center / Lotus area, do you know the better way to go to the deposit? So far i see there are no taxi here and motorbike taxi are not an optons has have a couple of bags...

  8. Anyone know if there is any bus/minivan service that go directly from Muang Rayong (Rayong City) to koh Samui?

VIP bus would be better than minivan (as would be a pretty long trip they are at least a bit confortable... something that I can take, sleep and wake up in Samui would be perfect :)

Or I'm forced to go BKK and take a bus from there?

  9. "the nightlife is almost non-existant (at least if you are a hetero male)"

Trying to work out what this means.

Is it full of gay bars? Or just lesbians?

Go to Silver Sand (should be the biggest bar/disco on the Island - and see pretty much gay couples around (not katoy, most plain gay)

This and north european girls coupled with the thai bf (always dressed like a pretty silly Bob Marley copy)*... I know only a bar with ladies (wich last time I check all Cambodia) and few freelancers

*this make me think, should we open a thread about north european girls and the exotic-bobmarley-copy-bf? I see a lot of this on many backpackers areas and wondering if this relationships works the same as bargirl an farang man... I mean, does the boy ask painful stories about the family buffalo that just died or just ask for barfine?

Try at trip to check Koh Samui - you may find all you are looking for;o)

How is compared to the other tourist Islands (koh chang/koh samet/phuket i.e. to name the ones I know)?

    You said:

"The "perfect place" would be a small coast town with a couple of farang-friendly roads and bar... where should I go check something?"

    - That you may find - plus a lot more - it's an option, but you will need to check-it-out yourself, if right or not for your lifestyle.

I will probabily go check it

  10. Here we go - after years of come and go I'm finally thinking to retire at all in the land of smiles/miracles/whatever

The fact is: I love Thailand but I didn't find yet the "perfect" place for me... I'm not really a pattaya-guy (not that I don't enjoy some actions with a - or a couple - of ladies from time to time, but really see the bar scene every night over and over after some time make me sick) - on same time I'm alone so a isolated fishing village with a single karaoke bar filled of Thais will not be nice on the long run

The bright note is that I run some online business to make a live, so even I'm not really packed up with money I'm pretty free to move whenever or wherever (at least as long Thailand remain so relatively cheap)

Now, options I alredy know and I don't like too much

    1) Pattaya and around - NO. I mean a HUGE no.

    2) Phuket - If I wished to stay in a place full of wannabe businessmen with fake rolex, scammers and mafia I rather go back Italy

    3) Bangkok - I stay for almost an year. I'm sick of malls and Nana plaza.

    4) Hua Hin - Meh. It's not bad but, at leat last time I check, too much crowned...

    5) Cha-Am: I like the bar strip there. Ladies don't have the same aggressive behavior of Pattaya/Nana and the atmosphere it's pretty friendly - but the environment it's pretty crap...

    6) Koh Chang: I used to love it. It's going to be the new Phuket in 5 years, I'll leave it to the russian.

    7) Koh Samet: My first choose ATM. I love it, I love the beaches and the environment, I love the people. The huge problem is that - at least for what i see - the nightlife is almost non-existant (at least if you are a hetero male), and that's quite expensive (but i always go for just a day or two, so don't know on the long run)

The "perfect place" would be a small coast town with a couple of farang-friendly roads and bar... where should I go check something?

  11. I'm heading for about a month on the Rayong area and wanted to make a 1-2 weeks on Koh Samet...

Wondering anyone have some advice for a place to stay a couple of weeks (I don't care too much the accomodation as long it have some wifi internet available on the room as I need to check frequently)

Also, last times I go to koh samet was already with company so didn't explored too much, but for what i remember I didn't see any lady bar around... that's going to disappoint me as this time will be alone and worry to make a pretty boring 2 weeks >.< any advice where I can find some company while there?

  12. You can pay the overstay directly at the border. When you get to the immigration agent before he says anything say excuse me sir, I am on an unfortunate 2 day overstay due to illness, he will point to the person you need to see, they will sit down with you and write a receipt for the overstay when you pay.

Well, this is a good news, thanks, I was scary have no options at all for overstay from land borders...

But IN MY OPINION, how you dress and present yourself is how they will behave with your situation. Doesn't hurt to shave and look presentable like a rich tourist and not a scumbag.

Not a big deal at all.

I will try the best, even a ten-hours-train-trip surely will not help>.<

(TBH my big problems are mustaches and dark hairs leaving people *always* mistaking me from Iran/Iraq - last time at immigration the lady officer start speaking in thai with an angry mood, changed in an embaracced smile when my girlfriend say I don't understand and after see my Italian Passport -.-)

While I'm here, don't want to open a new topic for this: anyone know exactly how many hours via train from BKK to Udon Thani, or have a link where I can check the trains Timetable? Also - it's first time I'll take trains here, the first viasarun in Loa was with plane - are thai trains so terrible as people say (well, hard to be worst than italian ones, but all can be)?

  13. Hello all from a noob of the forum :D

I'm sorry if this was already discussed, but searching on the forum I've find only info related to overstay before leaving the Kingdom by plane...

The problem is: Tomorrow (26) my visa expire. Because of some trouble - was sick for a couple of days - I had to delay my Visa run on Laos.

The visa was already extended at immigration with the +30 days powerup bonus, tomorrow I will go to bangkok, but will take me at least untill the 27 for effective go to the Udon Thani borders (As I will go with train from BKK).

Now, I know about the 500-bath fee for each overstay day, also that for just one day should be no problem... but on the forum I've find only experiences from people that after overstay (few days or some months) go to airport, so, what about leaving via a land border?

There is the possibility to pay the overstay bid there too, or I have to be scary to go to the friendly bridge and meet some unfriendly welcome :) ?

Thanks to all who will can help, (also sorry for my crap english too)
