  2. My Thai wife was due to fly back to London with Thai airways on Monday 1st Dec. She is still at home in Chainat, but unable to get through to any Thai airways phone numbers. What is the best thing she/people can do to get info on booking or changing flight dates? I'm guessing there will be no charge for any flight changes.

    Thanks for any info.

  3. I would like to book a flight to samui from Bangkok on the internet. I'm in the uk but will be traveling to Thailand soon to meet up with my Thai family.

Wife is Thai with Thai passport (with name also in English in passport). But the children, aged 13 and 15 both Thai don't have a passport. So they only have ID cards with name writen in Thai.

So how can i book a flight from the uk on the internet, or do I have to wait till i'm in BKK and book in the airport.

    Thanks for any help,

    Paul and Pa

  4. I've missplaced my old passport and traveled on my new one for the last 2 years (2 Thailand visits per year) so I can't show all travel to Thailand over the last 5 years.

Also all calls made from England to Thailand have been made using 08448 numbers with a cost of 1p per min. My phone bills only show calls over 40p per min.

So will this lack of info cause any problems for us?

We have been married for the last 2 years and my wife as had 3 previous visit visa's, the last one was a 2 year visit visa that will expire March 2007.

    Thanks for any advice.

  5. My thai wife has been traveling to the uk on a 2 year visit visa, but this will expire in march next year. So we have decided to apply for the settlement visa in January.

When we married in the uk she kept her maiden name, but will she have to change her ID card from Miss to Mrs before we apply for settlement?

    Thanks for any help.

  6. As been discussed many times on here, Credit Cards for ATM use is probably the best.

Halifax and Barclays bank charge interest from the day you withdraw cash on Visa accounts. I guess many other banks will now be charging.

    I now use debit card.

  7. Can anybody suggest where i can buy an air con unit in the Chainat/nakhon sawan area.

The wife went to the singer shop in u'thai today, but 35,000 baht for 12'btu is (i think) a bit expensive.

    Thanks, Paul

  8. Yes,it was a one year multiple entry visa.I have never applied for one in England, only in Penang. My neighbour gets his one year multiples in Abu Dhabi.I e-mailed the Thai Embassy in London last year about getting one at my local consulate-a jewellers shop in Liverpool. The reply was no problem. However,as long as I can get the visa in Penang I don't need to return to England.

One thing I forgot to mention was that last year, when checking in at at the airport the (very young)check-in clerk wanted to see my work permit or residency permit, which I don't have-or need. Then he wanted to see a ticket out of Thailand.I told him that I didn't need this either. Then a supervisor came over, checked I had a credit card and then I was able to check in.This time the woman at the counter wanted to see an onward ticket.I had one for an internal flight in Thailand. No problem.

Why would you require an onwards ticket, if you return back to Thailand with a new 1 year multi 'o' visa?

  9. 1st time was on a golfing holiday oct 02. Met a very nice lady(now my wife) and said i would come back to see her.

2nd time was jan 03 for 3 weeks.

3rd time was may 03 for 3 weeks.

4th time was oct 03 for 3 weeks.

Then the good lady came to UK 2 times in the next 5 months.

5th time was apr 04 for 3 weeks.

6th time was jul 04 for 2 weeks.

7th time was sep 04 for 3 weeks.

Then in nov 04 my better half came to Uk again, got married 10th feb and has just gone back to Thailand.

My 10th trip is 11th apr, for 1 month this time.

Guess with all the money i spend on flights, i will never have the money to join you in LOS...!!

  10. Thanks for the reply GU22,

I'm resident in the uk, but with the hope of moving out to thailand later this year.

My wife has 2 kids, new home, land and a very busy shop. So i can only hope the embassy will see that she has everything to go back to Thailand for.

I'm trying to get some more money together before the big move to Thailand, so to make the visa extention possible.

    Thanks again,

    Paul

  11. Paul,

A lot depends on your permanent location. Are you resident in the UK or Thailand?

If resident in the UK you will need to show a compelling reason why your wife will return to Thailand at the end of her visa. She is your wife, you live in the UK, the ECO will, naturally, feel that she will want to stay in the UK with you, and so refuse a visit visa on the grounds of insufficient reason to return. My advice in this situation is to go for a settlement visa. Remember, a settlement visa does not mean she has to remain in the UK until she has ILR, although for ILR to be granted at the end of the visa she will need to show that she is a UK resident, and so have pent most of the 2 years in the UK.

If you are resident in Thailand, and can show this and that you will both return to Thailand at the end of the visit, then a visit visa will be easier to get.

  12. Hi all,

I'm in the uk, and my Thai wife (Married in uk on 10th feb 05) is now back in Thailand. She as been to England now 2 times on a visit visa in the last 18 months. And stayed for 3 months each time. The last visit was on a visit visa but with for marrage stamped on the visa.

What we want to know is can she now come back to the uk (in June) for 3 months on another visit visa, or will the British Embassy tell her she will have to apply for a settlement visa?

I will be Back in Thailand 11th April for 1 month and will be with her when she goes back to the embassy.

    Thanks for any help.

    Paul and Pa
