jcgodber
Upscaler (line doubler) Does anyone here on this forum use this set top box to double the resolution on your HDTV? I know that there are a few satellite stations that have HD if you have the HD receiver box (I don’t) but what I am interested in is improving the SDTV broadcast. Any information would be much appreciated. Jim
solo siam
Line doublers are a pretty old technology, there are amplifiers that upconvert 480i signals etc... into a 1080p signal to feed to your TV via HDMi and sometimes component, else there are some nice product by crystallio, DVDO etc... Veazer
If you've got sufficient CPU power, ffdshow works really well with stored video content (.avi, DVD, etc.) but I'm not sure if it can be used with live feeds or not. There's loads of info about using FFDshow for this purpose at AVS Forum, try this thread HERE. If you've got the right TV card, DScaler does a nice job for live standard TV. I know it's got great de-interlacing filters, I'm not 100% sure about upscaling filters as I haven't used it for years.
Simmo
I think what you're looking for is now called a "video processor'. Specialist bit of kit and quite pricey, no idea about local availability. Here's some info http://www.hometoys.com/htinews/oct03/arti.../processors.htm
