YALA: -- Chief of Yala police was moved from Yala to the Royal Thai Police's Operation Centre following a spate of bomb explosions in the past three days that left over 20 people injured and several houses gutted in fires.

According to the order signed by Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Somyot Phumphanmuang yesterday, Pol Maj-Gen Tanongsak Wangsupha was ordered to report to the Operation Centre by 4.00 pm Monday.

No reason was given in the order, but it was widely speculated that the spate of bomb explosions rocking Yala town and its suburb was main reason.

Over 40 small bomb explosions were reported in the past three days since Friday.

Deputy commander of the Southern Border Police Operation Centre Pol Maj-Gen Somsak Chantaping is designated to act on the job, beginning Monday.

Former Pol.Col. Boonlert Chan Ocha, formerly of Chalong Police station on Phuket still there, after having been 'transferred', do you think? Or has the corrupt as <deleted> lying scum been blown to bits by now? One can dream.

I would have thought policing of insurgent activities was a military action.Or was the cop transferred for involvement in something else?

When are the Army and the Cops going to start fighting in the streets. The cops are really getting shafted by the Boys in Green.

You are correct its a military matter but as in the case with the Samui bomb the RTA is trying to make it political which then will be a police matter. Some people in the past have told white lies, what we are now seeing is trump up lying on such a scale that even the blind can see its lies.

This makes little sense to me.

The Police are not instigating the bombings, nor the army. The Police in Yala actually have to do Police work, there is a lot less corruption (infact I have never witnessed any) and would say that the Police and Army work a hell of a lot harder than anyone else in the country. They go to work every day, not knowing if they will come back.

A friends father is in the Police, his bosses car was bombed. Over these last 3 days, our friends toy shop was bombed.

The Police are not responsible for this, and they cannot be everywhere at once. There is a lot more interest in the Rohingya burial camps than what is happening to innocents in Yala this past week.

The bombings are acts of terrorism and an army issue - which makes it a government issue. Time to show some teeth, and go village to village and cleansing the villages of weapons and anyone who resists inspections. The only way to resist an onslaught on your turf is to fight back, not hide under the table. It is about time the government(s) of Thailand stood up for the people that have been standing up for them and "keeping it together" since the mess at Tak Bai.

Terrorist attacks are fought with intelligence gathering first, the police are best positioned for this task.

Unlike the rest of the country, where intelligence gathering is a highly profitable part of any policing role, the Police in Yala have very little interaction with the public, for good reason - talk to the wrong person and you get a bullet in the back of the head.

Don't think of Bangkok, think of Baghdad. Seriously. Go take a look sometime at what innocents are living through day in and day out. But make it quick.
