  1. So in other words, every time a nation acts in "bad faith", another nation can bomb them and not respect the UN resolutions or UN Security Council diplomatic practices ?
  2. Will they let off the driver more lightly as he ran over a falang and not a Thai after all ?
  3. Many rules around to make things more simple for foreigners, but as usual it's the chap or the gal at the counter who makes his or her own rules. And that's where the mess and the usual "No-can-do's" start...
  4. Please understand the poor man. !! He needs billions of tax money to distribute to Ukraine and to maintain a costly fleet of military in the Middle East due to Israel and the current tensions. So at the end of the day BoJo was not all that bad ?
  5. Just another way to make a law that leaves it open for the BiB to racket falangs on roadblocks.
  6. The thais who deal with foreigners, choose to do so, only to make a faster buck with cheating and overcharging. No rocket science. Such individual dynamics, obviously makes a person very undesirable (to keep it polite). On the other hand those happy with what they make, are nicer and obviously don't overcharge foreigners. Simple...
  7. Same in a restaurant. A friend was openly asked by the waiteress if after the venue closed, would he have liked some sensual company at his place. For me, it also happened with a female Grab driver. She did not directly offer of course, but after the regular BS questions during the ride...how long u here-u married-you own your house bla bla bla.....once arrived, there she was saying "I finish now my day and not sure what I will do for the rest of the evening". So nope, it's not uncommon and Nope, it's not because I or anyother is bashfully good looking...it just for our ca$h. Once aware of this, you take it or refuse. Simple.
  8. I cannot but agree with the OP. They either cheat or overcharge falangs/foreigners for anything to nothing. At one point people get fed up and those who can, sell and leave (and their good money goes with them).
  9. You don't like it then you leave. That's whats slowly happening in fact. And perhaps the right question to ask would rather be, why do the Thai's do everything possible to kill the golden goose ?
  10. Between all the other hassles on tax or visas, only the desperate would wish to come over and spend time in Thailand or stay on.
  11. Biden started the global damage with his sanctions against Russia in a war that nobody gives a hoot. Now Trump stepped in and is keeping things as bad if not a bit worse. America has historically been the global trouble maker since the end of WW2. Russia entered the game in the west, after the cold war and since the Berlin Wall fell. Nothing really new except that the turn things are taking and considering the so-called embargos on cheap russian oil, it could get worse mainly for the western economies and their blind handovers of trillions of dollars to a highly corrupt regime in Ukraine that is as corrupt, if not more, then the Russian crooks in place.
  12. Unbelievable. Here we have something close to a miracle with this survivor, but yet the sour and bitter drag in the ethic issue. No wonder many of such people, never made it back home in the west. Who cares if he is British, Indian, Japanese or Thai ? The point is that he survived and if it was you, we would be glad. Unbelievable....
  13. Corruption ? Bad managment with far to many incompetent and unqualified croonies getting top level executive posts ? Horrific customer service ? A bit of each...? ...one may ponder....
  14. If getting into any argument with money or land involved in Thailand...the outcome can often be very tragic. Remember always that foreigners here have absolutely no rights. At the end of the day the foreigner/falang whatever...is only accepted for the money bought in and nothing else.
  15. Avoid public wifi. With the regular network and sim card, depending on the option, one also can connect to the operator's own public wifi that is secure, when available, On the whole, never had any issue in paying by Qr scan. But again, never have more then you can afford to loose in your account. Cash ultimately rules if not.
