  1. Same for me. The Thai translation option to English that used to appear on every Thai language post has not been available for the past 2 or 3 days.

Very frustrating as I am married to a Thai a0nd have many Thai friends.

Is FB doing anything about this?

Yes I spotted that. But the funds from the sale are destined for their account in Australia which means they must be sent from an account in Thailand that includes his name, even though they might technically be her funds. I also assumed that he had funded her business from the outset, perhaps incorrectly.

Here are the BOT regs. on this subject, perhaps the OP can look at them and find a way to export the cash that best suits his circumstances, I don't believe it's a big issue at all and should be easily accomplished.

    Thanks!

    We are with Bangkok Bank.

I funded the original purchase and my name and signature is on the Chanote although I am not sure why but the local land office asked me when we transferred the title documents originally?

It has also nearly doubled in value and is worth multiple million THB. My wife has it with an agent and will travel back to Thailand to finalise. Don't know if I also need to go?

I will check the link provided.

    ????????

  3. Seasons Greetings to all forum members!

My wife and I have moved back to Australia.  We have a commercial property in Thailand (in my Thai wife's name) which we want to sell and then transfer the proceeds back to one of our personal bank accounts in Australia.

I am looking for advice of any rules and whether we can do a single large transfer or how this is best approached if there are limits on how much and how often we can do a transfer?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Unless you own the property it is a very difficult issue to deal with.  You would need the body corporate (or equivalent in Thailand) to allocate and spend money on the issue.

Nobody needs to be feeding them, it just needs to be a quiet secluded place to roost.

My wife and I own a 5 level shop house and had the problem for a long time before solving it.

Forget artificial birds, they don't work. Reflective streamers dont last and the birds come back after they get used to them being there.

There are very good unobtrusive netting products and other products to stop them landing like metal spikes you can attach to window ledges and balcony walls.

I used spikes on the walls on the roof and had netting installed on balconies.  I also created and deployed my own solution to keep them from landing or sitting on the tops of eaves and roof edges.  It seems only these physical barriers work. I am aware of paints too but not sure how effective they would be. Same for the electronic deterrents.

    Good luck!

Kind of. Because there are limits on prescription drugs, that is why it is called prescription. 3 month supply is often a max.

In Australia if you will be travelling your doctor can issue a special prescription to enable you to have more supplies. Have you checked if you can do this?

  6. @Russell17au

You were lucky. We got our 2 when we moved to Thailand and can't bring ourselves to leave them there so going thru the process now. I think it is 5 weeks quarantine and testing in Singapore or Malaysia before 3 months in Melbourne. Singapore seems the more expensive of the two and we haven't made our minds up yet. Hence the original post to try to find others experiences.

We are using Eagles to do a couple of Personal effects shipments to Australia. First one is done and we have been very happy with the service provided and the cost.

Not sure about shipping to the UK but it should not be a problem.

Duang speaks good English and is great to deal with. Tell her that Andrew recommended them to you.

Aĺl the best with the move.

  8. I use a LOT of apps and after a Win 7 to Win 8 Pro failure followed by a Win 7 to WIn 10 upgrade fail I will be waiting until the Win 7 support death knell before I attempt to upgrade again and not looking forward to that either.  Resistance to changer has nothing to do with it just a lack of faith.

I work in I.T. and have been using PCs since Commodore 64 days and for business since the original IBM XT in '81 (if I remember correctly).

  9. I thought I was discussing "thainess"?  It's the same with the road surface repairs.  Gee, maybe they could even move onto improvement or beautification projects once they do these basic infrastructure works properly?

It's not as if there isn't plenty to do here.

  10. I will never really understand the mentality of the "quick fix" here.  You see the same problems over and over again and in this case many other countries seem to be able to create long term fixes for issues such as this as they realise the bigger long term costs of the quick fix approach.  Sad but TiT.

  11. I have Type 2 diabetes and due to their use of sugar in all things in Thailand plus me not getting enough exercise my pin prick tests shot up after a couple of years here to 11 or 12!  I used to just take metformin but since the levels shot up the doctors added Glipizide to the list.

I go to the doc here every 4 months for a checkup, blood tests and prescription meds.

The thing I find weird about my BSL is that my long term average is now only 5.8 HbA1c but the pin prick tests I do average about 7.6-7.8.  Not sure how that works?

  12. I have been very well looked after by EaglesThai for various shipping requirements over the years.  They were originally referred by an Aussie mate in the freight forwarding business.

I am dealing with them at present so if you get in touch tell Khun Duang Andrew (from Pattaya) told you they would look after you.   Her English is very good.

  13. As a related aside, my CD collection now sits gathering dust in a cabinet after I transferred all of my music to digital storage.  Whenever I want to listen I just access the digital storage from whatever device I am using.  Even my receiver has wifi and connects to my PC or the internet for music/movies.

In the car it all comes off a USB drive or local radio.

  14. Pattaya: I stopped using Chrome some months ago and now use Opera which is better but has recently slowed down also.  YouTube has also recently slowed down and now lags occasionally also.   Not sure whats going on and done all the usual maintenance (cleared caches/cookies browsing history etc) too.
