  1. I use IPSTAR for my internet as we have no ADSL in my neck of the woods. It is notoriously unreliable during the rainy time, often there is no connection. I am told that this is due to bad weather either at the Bangkok end or my end - so I cannot see it being much use as a real time flood surveillance system if every time the rains which cause the floods also knock out the signal to/from IPSTAR!

  2. safe travels my friend

finally someone is honest about thailand and the culture,,i lived for on 3yrs,,that was enough,,,lots of old farlangs paying for their young brides,,treating the family to save face,,comon guys what planet do you live

just a quickie,,,one day i was asked to do the so called buda day at the temple,,thought well yeah,,give it a go,,anyway 1 hour before leaving the whole tribe of leeches turn up with pick up to go,,i get on motorbike to go and the so called g/friend says lets go by car,,when i ask why,,only 2kms she reply's she wants to travel with mum and the many thousand that turned up to go,,thinking to myself and looking at saying good bye to 3000bt i thought <deleted>?k it and said i'm not going,,watched the many scroungers put there head down and sulk off,,the driver even asked for 300bt for fuel as travelled 200metres down the road,,after a great arguement and people telling me i have black heart and have lost my face,,i kept my money,,went into town,,booked a hotel and had a proper holiday

this is one of many stories i can tell,,the morals in thailand on a scale of 1-10 are -50,,again good on yer,,safe journeys and try to save your son,,don't worry to much about the leeches as they only care of one thing,,and i think we all know what that is

It seems you only joined TV after you had done your three years here and left - if you'd had enough why bother to join a forum based in Thailand about all things Thai - just to slag it off as you are doing here? You look to be someone who came here and failed, what were you doing for three years - teaching English? Having failed in that and in your relationship with your so called girl friend (not to mention your cultural experience at the Temple and the opportunity to ride back with her parents) you think it gives you the right to write such rubbish as this! The Farlang [sic] community in Thailand is clearly better off without you and any others like you who leave and then throw mud.

  3. What are these old pensioners talking about. If you're a young man go out and blow a shit load of baht, fall in love, drink at 7am and let some little hottie/honey drive you crazy, make your way to the islands and enjoy the sun surf and hospitality. Everybody here did that and we all lived through it. Many here have all become too jaded boring old farts...complaining about their dwindling pensions. And to hel_l with Boston...let it go...the grinders will be there when you get back..but your head won't.

:) What an ignorant stupid post. In none of the above posts does anyone say anything that could even remotely be described as coming from an "old pensioner" - I doubt if there are too many pensioners testing their pulse rates in Eden - and I don't see any "jaded boring old farts complaining about their dwindling pensions" so why do you mention it?

  4. LOL trying to leave the impression 'thai passport' lines are actually shorter then the others or even the several 100k baht for the PR was worth it for something...

Ha, Jealousy :) . If you read the posts you will see everyone says the lines for Thai passport are shorter so it's not me "trying to leave impression" what's more my PR cost me less than 100k NOT "several". Ergo : You're all Bullsh_t!!! :D

  5. The immigration lines were never bad (nearly non-existent) and because I had an extension of stay, I went straight to Thai passport.

Huh? Is that the proper procedure: if one has an extension of stay, they should go to the Thai Passport lines?

    No, it's not.

Immigration Officers will sometimes allow you to enter via the Thai passport lines if you are with a Thai partner, and ask politely, but they can, and sometimes do refuse. I suppose that you could try and enter via the Thai lines if you have an extention of stay, either by asking politely or by fronting it out, but if you are not a Thai passport holder you are not supposed to use the Thai lines.

If you have a Certificate of Permanent Residence (PR) you use the Thai Passport lines regardless of your nationality. It's great, just one of the benefits of having a PR watching all you short timers and tourists queueing up at the Foreign Passport lines. :) I have seen the immigration guys turn away queue-jumpers who try to use the wrong lines, so best you don't try it.
