  1. The S. Court will be giving it,s decision on the 26-02-10

RE several reports of the decision already seemingly having been made....................................

Speculation is surely at fault and openly debating misleading information is not only damaging but also very dangerous, especially in the present powder keg scenario within Thailand and it,s potential to go off for the slightest excuse or reason.

Best to take a step back until it is officially announced, one way or the other.

This is what should have happened following the posting of the thread giving the impression Thaksins assets are already confiscated.

What will members debate about when the announcement is made is yet to be seen,

Surely repeatative views that have already been posted aren,t going to find there way onto a new thread.

    marshbags :D:)

I,m only surprised T.Visa hasn,t been approached already re unintentional, misleading information and the debating thereof

IMHO and voiced as a concerned member of the forum.

There's so much false and/or misleading information being put out by all sides right now, I can see your point about not commenting on the issue. But, where do you draw the line in cases like this?

We all know what happens (in Thailand) when people are prevented from openly discussing issues - don't we ?

The bush telegraph is a very and I say more dangerous tool, than allowing all in sundry to voice their opinions, on forums such as this.

There are a couple of posts on this thread - yours included - which have enlightened me, as to the workings of the system and made me think about issues in regard to the sought "gag", I hadn't previously considered.

There are also some posts from some of our "less enlightened" members. But even their opinions help me and I hope others, put a more knowledgable perspective on things - as outrageous and ignorant as I think they might be. Perhaps they too read the other more informed posts and come away knowing a little more about what is going on. Put a gag on that and you'll end up with lots more ignorance than there is already.

  2. Don't be so flippant about a very serious issue.

The poster I quoted asked a question about freedom of speech in Thailand. My "flippant" reply summed it up in my humble opinion. I think locking somebody up for a decade for posting a video is slightly more of a "serious issue" of freedom of speech than Thaksin's brood whining about people speculating about a court verdict.

Sorry for the thread hijack folks.

    Agree.

But, this is also an important issue, as I believe it shows the true colours of the man.

Let's not get this "gag" topic confused with something very "serious".

Let's also hope, one day we'll be able to debate the other issue as we are this one, now.

    Thanks for the response.

  3. Gag order - well that's a shame. It's sad that governments (not just in Thailand) do not understand the importance of transparency..unless they have something to hide of course.. which again is a shame

    totster :)

Before you say "that's a shame" - which it is - you should read who has asked for the "gag".

I think it says a lot about one man's "desire" for democracy and belief in freedom of speech.

You might even say he's "returning to type"...

Noted..whichever way it happens.. it is a shame, and I hope the Supreme Court does the right thing

    totster :D

Yes, it is a shame. But perhaps it also shows the true colours of Thaksin.

Like you, let's hope the court decides the request independantly, on its merits.

But you have to feel sorry for the judiciary in these things - damned if they do, damned if they don't ...who'd want to be a judge !?

  4. What happened to the freedom of the press and freedom of speech?

I'll ask Suwicha Thakor when he gets out of the nick in about 2019.

Don't be so flippant about a very serious issue.

This is not related to the topic here, where in Thaksin's children - not the government - have aksed for a gag to be placed on discussion of the court's verdict of the current trial of their father.

  5. Gag order - well that's a shame. It's sad that governments (not just in Thailand) do not understand the importance of transparency..unless they have something to hide of course.. which again is a shame

  6. He's the best PM for the country, and he will come out of this month (and the assets verdict) strong. You guys said he would'nt last 5 months. He keeps laughing at you and doing his best to push the country forward (albeit with little help from his coalition "partners").

...and if this does come to pass, those on this forum who keep yelling out about "legitimacy", will still yell out about "legitimacy".

Others (like me) will say, "let's move on"...

  7. This is a rumour emanating form the red side and pushed through all media sources and bloggers sympathetic to them especially those that use ex-TRT people as sources. That doesnt mean it isnt true. It could be information, misinformation or disinformation.

It is all poltics and if it happened of course they wouldnt complain about it. They are all hypocrites and liars anyway. After all they are polticiains;) Of course whether true or not it may also be intended to cause Abhsiit to panic and disolve the house or to make judges feel very very nervous.

Everything is a mind game right now with the big issue being the assets

I agree with most of what you say, but I think you missed my point. This question is directed at the posters on this site who go on and on, and on, about the "legitimacy" of this government and Abhisit as PM.

If one accepts the current rules for forming governments and electing the PM (which I do, until a better system comes along), I am asking all these "naysayer" posters to provide an opinion. If the answer is, that this would be okay, because it puts the PTP back in government, I would question their double standards i.e. it's not okay for others to do this, but for the PTP, it would be.

  8. There is a rumor doing the rounds in the blogosphere today, that an alliance is being talked about with Sanan's group (who are in the current government) and the PTP to form a new government - with Sanan as the PM (he was once a Democrat but not any more). This could happen as a result of the upcoming censure motion.

The point of my comment is to ask all these posters who continually babble on about Abihisit being a so called "un-elected" PM, how they would view Sanan as PM and leader of a very minor party, in a coalition?

Would we hear the same "rigged" catch cries ?
