At the end of the day, the red shirt version of democracy seems to be that if a person or party is popular enough, then they should not be judged by the rule of the law, they should be judged by popularity. Thaksin was popular, so therefore he should be not guilty.
To many of the reds, he's Super Thaksin... incapable of being guilty of anything untoward and oh yes, he's also savior of the Universe
-
Thaksin added that Abhisit may be eloquent, but he lacks sincerity.
As opposed to himself who is not eloquent AND lacks sincerity.

I'm wondering how the 3 (Veera, Weng, Jatuporn) were chosen to represent the red side, to the exclusion of the 4th founding member of the organization, Jakrapob.
Also, over the past several weeks, Seh Daeng had announced he was the ultimate leader of the reds with no comments to the contrary from Thaksin who he meets with regularly; so why was he also not included in these talks?
Other key red members like Arisaman and Giles and Suporn and Kwanchai were also not present yesterday, so I was just wondering how it was decided who would sit opposite the PM?
It couldn't just be that these individuals (Jakrapob, Seh Daeng, Arisaman, Giles, Suporn, and Kwanchai) all have current criminal charges they are facing as that would have also excluded Jatuporn and Veera from participating.
-
What are the constitutional changes the reds want. I understand they want to remove party dissolution as a punishment for vote buying/fraud organized by the party leadership.
What are the other changes they want?
Free Elections,Democracy....................and other things that we cant discuss....
Amnesty for Thaksin's crimes is one of the changes they want and that's freely discussable.

I look forward to the day when The YesDavy Daily Herald is unveiled in Thailand.

I do not see how the present situation can be described as anything but civil war.Civil war? That is laughable.
well, the overwhelming majority puny minority of respondents agreed with the OP's assessment.
I don't think I've encountered a poll here yet where there was as much disagreement with the poll starter's point of view.
17% is laughable.

^ in case you can't imagine why some people might not care for the red shirts

The fact he's left it until now (the very last day) is also quite telling. I personally think this indicates it was his last option on the list...
And heading into the last hour of the very last day to do so. I hope the lawyers haven't been delayed by red traffic jams to get the appeal in just under the wire.

Prolonged anti-government protests could cost the Thai economy up to 100 Billion Baht, an economist at UTCC, Thanavath Phonvichai, said today. He said the the rallies now affect consumption and tourism the most.

I hear heads exploding on the red propaganda apparatus side.
That just may be some spare M-79 grenades they had laying about.

He is so good looking. Don't we all just love him, especially the army boys.
And the song is great too.
quite a stark contrast from the red ravings that typify the "passes the point of no return"

PTP has 180+ MP's , where are the 80 others ?
At least two are inside Parliament. The others.........
Here's what one of them had to say:
Pheu Thai MPs Represent Who?
Friday, March 26, 2010
Pheu Thai MP for Samut Prakarn Natee Suthinpuek, who is better known by his stage name Krung Srivilai, became a hero overnight by going against the consensus of his own party in boycotting the House session. He showed up on Wednesday to attend the meeting saying he came to do his job as described by the Constitution, to work for the people, and to live up to the expectations of those who have elected him to represent them. He also reprimanded the MPs who decided not to attend the meeting, saying they should resign and stop wasting taxpayer’s money.
His statement has been met with much applause from the overall public who has become so bored of being let down by the irresponsible behaviors of their MPs. They demanded that the MPs must sort themselves out. They must serve the country, the people and not a single person. They are not supposed to protect their personal interests and that of their friends, but leave the suffering of many people across the nation unaddressed.
Natee’s action is a slap in the face for the majority of his Pheu Thai colleagues who decided to boycott House session over the claim that deploying soldiers to stand guard around the Parliament is inappropriate. Although the government tried to explain that the security officers were there to provide extra safety for all and minimize circumstances that could lead to a bloody saga similar to the October 7 clash, Pheu Thai MPs weren’t listening.
Not only they did not listen, but also about ten of them behaved as if they were thugs by blocking the entrance of the Parliament compound with their cars.

The protesters want the elite to get the same treatment under law like the rest of us.
unless the elite offender's initials are TS

... Not taking your mum's phone calls. I'd hardly call that despicable and shameful.
It goes much further than that, completely abandoning, both financially and emotionally, a 91 year-old woman that gave birth to you would not normally pass muster within this culture or most other world cultures.

blood one week, hair the next, maybe toenails next week?
Considering the ample girth of the rotund Suporn leading the way for the hair trimming today, I guess there's not much chance of a starvation protest next week.
in lieu of the not eating protest
-
Yes, so do I. For example, they could ask him about the despicable and shameful manner in which he treats his own mother and also if he ever plans to return to Surat Thani to address the rape allegations against him.
Details? (A link is fine)

Does the law really stipulate that he must personally lodge the appeal?
No, his lawyers plan to do so today, although, as stated above, I don't think they really understand the concept of "new" evidence. It seems to be the same old tripe that he lost the case on.
-
With Thaksin about to lodge an appeal with new evidence we could see this little round calm down now pending further court deliberationj on acceptance or not and if accepted on hearings. Ho Hum
Yes, considering the endless line of witnesses and mountains of documents presented over the course of that lengthy trial, it will be interesting to see what "new" evidence he presents. What did he uncover in the past 30 days that he didn't know about in the peceding however many days of the trial?
Read about his planned basis for the appeal in the paper this morning and it would seem he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hel_l when his lawyers file it with the court today.
Another mystery I'm still waiting for is the "world shocking" picture of the prime minister the red leaders said they would release two days ago.http://www.thailandoutlook.tv/tan/ViewData...?DataID=1026583
and still no word on day 3 of this "world shocking" picture being published.
You don't suppose the red leaders would lie about something, do you?

Revised version ... "PM-Abhisit doesn't receive the support of a single PAD/NPP MP, because there are none, but one of the Democrat MPs did appear on a PAD-stage a few times, wearing a yellow jacket."
No need revise your statement, Ricardo, as Kasit is not an MP.

The same Suthep who was warning about bombs likely to be planted in up to 40 locations by Red Shirts, claiming that Thaksin was really in Cambodia not Montenegro, who warning of a armed army of red shirts descending on Bangkok etc etc
He probably got that from listening to red shirt leader Arisman saying he was going to have one million red shirts descend on Bangkok and burn it to the ground.

I wish you would think and relay accurate information.
The court didn't declare the government "in no confidence"
If you have a link to credible news source that uses that terminology, please post it, because that's not something courts do here.
